Paradise found overlooking beautiful mountain laurels. Laurel Overlook Lodge is a beautiful 2 bedroom (queen beds and TV's) two bath, 2 story, with loft. (Loft has a single fold out, suitable for a child), dog friendly (no cats please) cabin with a covered porch, small screened porch, lounging deck. The living room offers a wood-burning fireplace, leather furniture and a desk. The dining table is very roomy for 4 people. The covered porch offers a gas grill and dining area, while the hot tub deck has a comfortable lounging area. Inside the fenced yard there is an earthen firepit to enjoy smores and a true crackling fire. PLEASE NOTE CANCELLATION POLICY BELOW.

This cabin is accessed by private mountain roads that aren’t county-maintained. For the smoothest arrival, and for preservation of the roadway, the Road Committee recommends 4-Wheel Drive, with All-Wheel Drive as a minimum.

CANCELLATION/RESCHEDULING/NO SHOW/EARLY DEPARTURE: Each cabin is privately owned and cancellations affect owners significantly. Cancellations, rescheduling, or changes must be submitted in writing and confirmed received by Sliding Rock Cabins® more than thirty-one (31) days prior to the original check-in date in order to receive refund, less a Sixty Five Dollar ($65) cancellation fee. Said changes regardless of reason made within thirty-one (31) days of your original check-in date will result in a forfeiture of all moneys paid. All moneys paid are non-transferable to another rescheduled date. Refunds will be given if Agent can re-book said dates with another guest limited to the extent of rebooking. Agents are not responsible for Guests inability to arrive or if Guests chooses to depart early for any reason, or if members of Guests party do not show up. Love sliding rock cabins ..but not this one

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Although the cabin was beautiful i only stayed one night of my stay. The bed was at least 4 feet off the floor and i could not get up in it so ended up on the couch. If i had known the beds were that high i would have chosen another property.

THE PERFECT CABIN AND SO PRIVATE!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Laurel Overlook is such a great cabin! As soon as we walked in, my husband, our pups and I felt right at home. The furnishings, decorations and property were amazing. I have to say, this is the cleanest cabin we have stayed in to date and so comfy. We love that we had no traffic passing the cabin and that we were able to hike down to the stream below. We brought our dog crate, dog beds, bowls, etc. but ended up not needing the crate as there was one waiting for us. There was also a dog bed, toys, blanket and treats. The kitchen was nicely stocked with nice pots, pans, dishes, coffee maker, etc. We went into town several times to explore the Antiques stores, local restaurants and businesses. This is not our first time staying with Sliding Rock Cabins and we have always been very pleased with the cabins and the staff. Thank you for always being top notch! Bobby and Wanda-North Port, FL

Peace and Quiet

Reviewer Comments: Having rented a different cabin on that mountain before, we knew how tricky the drive could be in the dark and during rainstorms so we shopped for groceries at Ingle’s before checking in. This cabin, our 9th, turned out to be the most well-appointed one we have rented. The owners very generously supplied all of the kitchen equipment you could need. I never needed to use the knives and saute pan that I always bring with us. The only problem for us and our smaller dogs were the high beds though they were very comfortable. If you want peace and quiet, this is one of the nicer places to get that. We enjoyed pizza from Cucinella’s in Blue Ridge and stocking up on our favorite beef and Berkshire pork at Mountain Valley Farm. Did I mention how beautiful and roomy the kitchen is?

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was somewhat unhappy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall, good. The road to get to the cabin was long and rough going up the mountain. The beds are very high and require small step to get into the beds. The downstairs bed is also very squeaky.We had a lot of trouble accessing the TV thru YouTube as we don't have a YouTube account and although NetFlix was available, we weren't able to log in with our credentials.Lastly, the gas stove igniters would continuously run when you lit one of the burners and never shut off until you turned off the burner which was quite annoying. this needs to be repaired if not already done.

LOL Fun

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed every minute of our time at LOL. The drive was exciting, bumpy, & steep- but totally worth it. The cabin was beautiful & so well equipped for people like me & my mom who didn't plan to leave for the whole trip. The grill worked great & we had many meals prepared on it. The kitchen was very well stocked- & we love to cook. They had multiple coffee makers including a Keurig, we had brought our own but we didn't need to unpack it :) They also had a blender, which I don't find often in the cabins I rent. The beds, although high, were very comfortable & stools were provided for getting in & out of them. The best thing about the cabin was how well suited it was for our dogs! The fenced in yard was great, it came with a large crate, with a crate pad, a dog bed that one of our Dachshunds loved, food & water bowls a plenty, & a basket overflowing with toys. Our pups might've had more fun than we did. We would love to come back in the winter to enjoy the hot tub & outdoor fire pit (which we did start & it was easy). All in All out Fourth of July at LOL was wonderful, although far too short lived. We can't wait to get back!

Pets Heaven

I'm a little late with the review, but hey it's better late than never for such wonderful cabin. We stayed at the cabin late March. This cabin is made for pet lovers. The fenced yard creates a no stress staying for pet owners. I was pleasantly surprise with all the amenities for pets. The pet bed, toys, blanket, treats, enclosure and gate are provided. It was peaceful, secluded and clean. The enclosed back porch with a mini built in table overlooking a small stream is a plus. We had dinner on the porch every night. We hiked down one day and enjoyed collecting rocks from the stream. Overall it was an amazing stay. We will definitely be back!

Peaceful and Refreshing

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This cabin was perfect for my daughter and me. 2 bedrooms and 2 full baths. One upstairs and one downstairs. the upstairs bedroom has a screened porch too. The bacalony at main level runs full length of the cabin. Beautiful cathedral ceiling. Knotted pine ceiling walls and flooring. Kitchen well equipped with the conveniences of home. Loved the fenced front yard. This was great for our 3 dogs , one lab mix and two toy dogs. The road up to the cabin is dicey at night. We came in after sunset and it was a bit scary. Narrow gravel roads indicative of mountain roads,some steep and drop offs on the sides. You go at a slow pace for sure due to the pot holes ang bumps in the gravel roads. Get your groceries BEFORE you go there. You will not want to 'run' to the store for a butter stick or milk. We took two different days for excursions to Blue Ridge and East Ellijay walking trails. Mainly we stayed put and enjoyed the peace, quiet and songs of the night. We had the windows open, it was just right for us even though it got up to the 90's in the lower leveled towns. Hot Tub is a must do at night. The beds were some of the BEST Sleeping beds I have slept on. I travel and sometimes the beds are not so good. But these mattresses were super comfy, but very supportive. We loved our stay. We will come back for sure.Beautiful area!

Amazing Getaway

The kitchen is awesome! Stocked better than my own kitchen at home!! All you need to bring is your food/beverages. The bed was comfortable and provided restful sleep. The bed is high but steps are provided. The hot tub was fantastic after a day of golfing or just exploring the nearby towns. Our favorite spot was the back porch. We had our meals at the high top overlooking the trees. Each morning we enjoyed listening to the multiple birds that were beautifully singing. In the evenings, the rocking chairs were our reading chairs. The staff had made preparations for our pups however they decided to stay home with our son. They would have loved it here. A nice worry free fenced area is provided for your fur babies. The area is very secluded which we appreciated. Very peaceful!! We will definitely book again when in the area. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Secluded Dog Heaven Getaway

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The cabin was immaculate and well-equipped for both humans and dogs. The dogs had treats waiting for them along with a doggy bed, blanket, kennel and water/food dishes. We all loved the fenced yard, which was directly off the front door, for easy morning outings. Our daily hot tub soaks under the tree canopy and sitting on the porch listening to the birds was relaxing. The cabin is secluded and we enjoyed walks along the dirt roads to the path along Amy Creek. We had never been to the area and were looking forward to exploring both Ellijay and Blue Ridge. We arrived on a rainy day and the roughly 3 1/2 mile drive, on steep dirt roads to the cabin was bumpy with deep washout holes which were difficult to see in the rain. We adjusted our itinerary to have limited trips up and down the mountain. Our quiet days at the cabin were wonderful as the cabin has everything you need and with nature all around, the dogs enjoyed their extra walks. We visited four breweries, opting to share sampler flights and bring a crowler of our favorite back to the cabin. Grumpy Old Men brewery in Blue Ridge was our favorite, being a bit more upscale and having a bigger range of beers to sample. Cartecay River Brewing has old school video games to play for free including Nintendo Mario Kart which was an enjoyable trip back in time. Cartecay Bike and Brewery has a bike trail behind the shop (we wish we had brought our bikes). The blackberry wheat was my favorite. Both cities have plenty of shops and dining options and the cabin is mid-way between the two. Sliding Rock management was very prompt and helpful when we couldn’t figure out how to find local stations on the TV. It was a relaxing, enjoyable trip and would have been perfect if we wanted to just stay at the cabin. Be aware, the beds are extremely high. I’m 5’3” and did not feel comfortable getting on/off the bed. I’m also 60 so maybe this wouldn’t even be a concern with a younger person. Th

So peaceful!

The dogs loved it! The cabin was well stocked with all the kitchen things you need! One of our dogs loved all the toys! The others are older and don’t play much anymore, so they just enjoyed napping and taking walks. The front step was a bit hard for our older 2 dogs, but we found a couple 4x4’s and made another lower first step and all was good. The people beds are VERY high, we had to use the steps to get it, which might be the only “issue” with the cabin. Great place and LOVE the fact we could bring our large dogs (77-90 lbs). U

My wife saw a few bears while walking our dogs but the bears couldn't have cared less.We had a problem when a contractor severed the water line while upgrading the cable in the area but when I notified Sliding Rock they sent someone promptly to replace the filter which became clogged with sediment.

Enjoyed the porch; ate all meals out there & used the grill. The steps to get in bed could use some non-slip tape or something. They were very slippery. Great spot for the dogs; they loved the fenced area. We walked the roads; met nice people. Tried to hike to the creek; couldn’t find a trail down there. Thank you for sharing your lovely home.
