This charming rustic home has a lot to offer. It has many nooks where your family can unite and create moments for their memory buckets. Florida room allows you to observe nature and is a perfect spot for your coffee. The house has one master bedroom (king size bed) with attached full bathroom. It has a second bedroom with two built-in beds (twin and full size). There is a separate shower room and a separate restroom. Upstairs it has a 3rd bedroom with 2 built in twin beds and a 1/2 bathroom.
Green friendly home built by original owner architect and his two sons in 1982. I would describe the home as rustic industrial. People often comment it feels like a Frank Lloyd Wright design. The home incorporates an "envelope" heating and cooling design to help naturally moderate the temperature in the house (in addition to central A/C and Heat). The home is located in residential historic area of Lake Helen. Bedroom 1 and 2 are located on the first floor and bedroom 3 is located on the second floor via spiral staircase. The second floor includes a separate gathering area (game room/reading area) and a half bath (sink/toilet).
All bedrooms have newer, high-quality mattresses. We use breathable organic-cotton sheets (GOTS-certified).
We are looking forward to host you in our place.
The entire house is available for the guests. Garage is not included.
The home is located on a quiet street in Lake Helen. The driveway can fit up to 4 cars fairly comfortably. Different vendors feature their products in the beautiful Artisan Alley in historic downtown Deland every Friday from 6-9 P.M.
BEAUTIFUL HOME! We really enjoyed our stay, so very homey. My boys immediately fell in love with the room upstairs, and the sun room was my personal favorite spot. The owners were super helpful. We ended up being a little late leaving because I couldn't find my key, they got out and helped! 10/10 Amazing stay would love to do again. The town is also super cute and has some really fun things to do. Again 5 star stay!!
We had a lovely stay at this home. I was very impressed with cleanliness. My children Loved staying upstairs in their own area. Most of all it was nice to see all the children's books - we felt very welcome. Thank you
The house was great. Perfect for our family. We were in town for our daughter's wedding that was at Bridal Oaks. The house was very close to the wedding venue but also easy to get into town. Alan was very responsive when we had questions and needed to make some minor changes in our reservation. Highly recommend the rustic retreat.

The property was our home for about 10 years before needing a bit more space for our growing family. We purchased the home from the original home owner and builder, they built the home in 1982. The original home owners were home builders from Massachusetts and built this originally as their winter home. They built the home with their sons who convinced them to utilize a green energy "envelope" concept which helps to self regulate the temperature in the home. There is a new article hanging on the foyer wall from a 1983 interview with the Deland Beacon (newspaper) which details this "envelope" concept.
The property has so many cool features such as a cool kids bedroom and game room upstairs, spiral staircase, sunroom and beautiful kitchen, but the thing that sticks with you is just how relaxing it is looking out over the back yard and watching nature.
