Just 5 min from Keeneland & Bluegrass Airport, surrounded by horse farms, this restful retreat offers a convenient spot from which to explore central KY. Visit stops on the Bourbon Trail, tour the state capitol in Frankfort (30 min), or venture further afield to Louisville (~1 hr). Feel free to hike our 250+ acre farm or bring your bike to ride Pisgah Pike, a nationally recognized "scenic byway." There's plenty to do.
Owners live onsite. May encounter owners' dogs. No small children, please.
My daughter and I stayed at this property ehile she was competing at the horse park. It was a lovely, restful place for us to start and end our busy days. The property is impeccably maintained, the hosts are wonderful, and the location in the heart of horse country was exactly what we needed. Thank you!
This wonderful property is in the heart of lovely horse farms. Minutes from the airport, Keeneland Race Track and downtown Lexington. Super easy to find and so warm and welcoming. Just perfect for adventures.
We have stayed at many places in the area, as we visit family at least once a yearâthis was, by far, the best place we have stayed. The host had everything set up, including water in the refrigerator, coffee for Keurig, and a basket of breakfast goodies and snacksâall ready for our arrival. The host was very friendly and easygoing, and it was an absolute pleasure to stay there! 10/10 for sure!
My friend and I stayed here for a big event at the Kentucky Horse Park . It was about a 20-25 min drive but so worth it ! This cute cottage is tucked on a pristine farm located close to Keeneland . While it sits adjacent to the owners home you enjoy complete privacy . Jennifer was the perfect host and went above & beyond to make our stay just perfect . We would love to return !
Charming cozy cottage in beautiful horse country. Pleasant and peaceful setting with warm welcome by host who ensured that we had everything that we needed to make our stay enjoyable.
This place is top notch. Beautiful place, amazing surroundings, extremely friendly cat on site. Had an amazing stay and cannot recommend this place enough!
Everything you need plus things you didnât know you needed!
This is by far one of the most thoughtful, curated, charming VRBOâs weâve visited. The space was perfect, intuitive and the grounds and view were like a Bluegrass landscape painting.
My wife and I had a great stay at this property. It is set in a beautiful area surrounded by horse farms. The cottage itself is very comfortable and is decorated with original art. The hosts provide great hospitality with tons of fruit, snacks, and coffee waiting for us on our arrival. The champagne was a great touch for the New Years holiday.
Jennifer and Ben's property was just beautiful and exactly as listed. We so enjoyed our stay at Soggy Bottom Cottage! The grounds were lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our daily walks along the property. The location was perfect as we visited a few distilleries during our stay. Jennifer gave us some wonderful restaurant recommendations that were close by. Both Jennifer and Ben were so welcoming but yet completely respected our privacy. The cottage had everything we needed and we appreciated the extra touches like the basket of fruit/munchies that we grabbed for our daily excursions. We would definitely stay here again!
Thank you to Jennifer for your amazing hospitality!! What a comfortable cottage with an interesting history. My boys and I enjoyed our time and had everything we needed. The neighborhood is beautiful!!
The owner extended warm hospitality during my stay and was very gracious and accommodating with a scheduling issue I had. The cottage was pristinely clean, decorated beautifully and the surrounding area was peaceful. It was a true pleasure and highly recommend this for your stay. Only 20 minutes from the KY Horse Park and easy access to Lexington.
Our 2-night stay at Soggy Bottom Cottage couldn't have been more perfect. It's in a lovely quiet setting; secluded but close to Keeneland, distilleries, and restaurants.
The cottage is so cozy and welcoming that we could have stayed there relaxing the entire time.
Our hosts next door were kind and accommodating without being the least bit intrusive.
Expect an occasional visit from the resident pups and a cat with the air of a true Southern gentleman. We nicknamed him The Colonel.
We are already looking forward to our next stay.
Charm and originality abound at Soggy Bottom Cottage. Immaculate, thoughtfully decorated, and well supplied, this lovely little house stands under old hemlocks in a well preserved Bluegrass landscape. (Tom Kimmererâs book Venerable Trees explains this kind of landscape for those interested in knowing more about it). Original art by a beloved local artist adds to the cottageâs charm. The host was gracious and generous. Booking and checkin/checkout were painless. Despite its rural setting, the cottage is convenient to Keeneland, to Woodford Reserve Distillery, to Lexington, and to just about any other area attraction, as well as to the airport. Everyone in my group thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Soggy Bottom Cottage.
This rental is a jewel, from the location to the decor!! We loved everything about it! The cottage can be found on a beautiful Kentucky farm. The drive to the cottage is equally as gorgeous as you travel on a winding road flanked with stone "fencing" and horse farms. The cottage is decorated with the most unique and though provoking paintings by the owners mother. The bed is very comfortable, the shower is gorgeous with tile work and a large glass, while bourbon bottles and books about Kentucky adorn the cottage. The kitchen is very well stocked and our gracious host had cookies & a birthday balloon for me! Not to mention snacks and goodies for breakfast, milk and water in the fridge and a large assortment of coffees & teas. We enjoyed our time so much and will very likely book again in the future!!! Rent it....you will NOT be disappointed!
Love the charm of the cottage. Peaceful. Highly recommend. Reasons for 4 vs 5 star are as follows: while place was a five star in the big scheme of things I did not realize that their main house was 30
Yards away ie right next door. On VRBO one would think you had complete isolation. 2. The pictures make you dream of sitting outside under the hemlocks in those chairs however they donât really make this inviting. Chairs are not cleaned off. Outdoor eating table not cleaned off or inviting. Door to outside area on side has no stepping stones or pavers. So just stayed inside and enjoyed the amazing charm of the cottage itself. Also while I love dogs I donât love dogs that jump on me when Iâm getting out of the car and they have wet paws and I have on white.
