We were attending a 60th family reunion. Many were staying down the beach near stump pass. We decided to check out off site bookings Everything was perfect. The gentleman even showed upbto jump one of our cars when we were checking out!
Manasota Key is the perfect destination for long walks on the beach, dolphin watching, beach sunsets, island bike rides and more. Oh and yoga on the beach every morning!
The unit comes with bike and kayak access which we thoroughly enjoyed. It is well equipped and Heather was an amazing host! I highly recommend the property.
Fabulous in every way possible! Words canât describe the wonderful owners, beautiful location, adorable home away from home!! Beaches close, restaurants close (or use Stump Pass Trolley), Stump Pass Park, and more! We just loved our stay! We want to come back!!!
Great location walk to restaurants and beach. Free shuttle around town via Stumpy's. Owners live around the corner and very attentive to a couple of minor issues.
My husband, myself, and our 11mo old stayed in one side while my mother and father-in-law rented the other side. This house is perfect for smaller families that also need their own space! Great location to bay side and ocean (maybe 5min walk). We rode bikes everywhere. The only downfall I could see with this house is if you only rented one side and had to share the back yard. This may not be a big deal for anyone, weâve just had bad experiences with it in the past (NOT HERE THOUGH). Highly recommend this house. The owners are very kind and laid back. There were a few pieces of furniture getting exchanged while we were there but it wasnât a problem at all!
We can't say enough about this property and the owners. Everything was wonderful. There was everything that we could need or want here and the location is perfect!!!!
My wife and I stayed for a long weekend on her 50th birthday!! We could not have asked for a more perfect retreat. The property is a very short walk from the beach, it is immaculate on the inside, the fridge had Coke/Pepsi and a few beers already stocked, there were also goodies to munch on beachside. One of the best perks was the kayaks, paddle board and all the beach equipment. We look forward to the next time we stay and bringing company to rent out the sister unit next door. We have found our new retreat from home only an hour and a half away. We canât wait to come back. Thank you Heather for your hospitality.
We were impressed with all the amenities included in this little shack. Restaurants were closeby & if we wanted to stay home the kitchen was well stocked with pots & pans etc...
We stayed in the Seashell Shanty for 5 days on this first trip to Manasota Key. I cannot say enough good things about this beautiful, just-right-sized, vacation rental. It was clean and very comfortable for our stay. The kitchen is well stocked, including a regular coffee maker and a Keurig (Coffee is a staple in my familyđ). Rod and Heather are excellent hosts and really took care of small details that we have never seen at other rentals. They left us plenty of savory snacks, a bottle of wine, a couple of beers, coffee pods for the Keurig, Coke, and any soaps you may need (plenty of cleaning products and laundry soap too). The wifi speed is better than at our own house, and we enjoyed the extra TV channels, as we have no satellite/cable TV at our home. The highlights of the week were using the free kayaks, trying the stand up paddle board for the first time, and enjoying the Brisket Melt Sandwich (a MUST) at The Sandbar Tiki and Grille. The Seashell Shanty is located about midway between the restaurants and the state park, thus an easy walk in either direction. The deeded beach access is only about 350 yards from the unit. We highly recommend a stay here and we are already planning a return trip. â€ïž
This is the one you want! If you are looking for a super clean and very nice little place, this is it. It is located in a nice quiet area and has everything you could possibly need to enjoy your stay. The many extra touches were so appreciated. It is very obvious that the owners truly want to provide a nice place for their guests. 10 stars! We will be back very soon, for sure :-)
We have stayed at other properties but this one took the cake! The room was very clean and had everything you could possibly need and then some. Heather paid attention to every detail. She was quick to respond to all of my inquiries.. It was a short walk to the beach and close to restaurants and grocery stores. We canât wait to book our next vacay!
I would give this place 10 stars if I could. You can tell that the owners really thought about who was going to stay here. The amenities - bikes, kayaks, chairs, screened in patio, (a must for Florida!), chairs out front, and the outdoor shower - all amazing. The âshackâ was clean, and I mean clean! And the little goodies, snacks, drinks, the book with local information and menus, everything you needed to feel welcome and have a great time. There are even pictures showing what it looked like before renovations! Will definitely be coming back, highly recommend!!
Rod and I are northern transplants from Ohio and Pennsylvania (respectively) that moved to Florida back in 1990. We have been married for going on 25 years and have two wonderful sons- Conor and Quinn who have kept us busy for the majority of these years with school activities, Club soccer and Boy Scouts. As we move into the empty nest stage of our lives in a few years we are working on our "Nest". We look forward to sharing this "Nest" with you as well.
Spending time with friends on Manasota Key led us to fall in love with the island. The quaint community of visitors gives you a sense of belonging. When you drive over the small draw bridge that takes you on to the island your eyes sneak a peak to the water to see if the dolphins are in view - you can't help but let out a breath of calmness as you have entered your relaxing destination. Many travelers come from the North during the winter months to beat the cold weather and stay for months on end- year after year. Others that live in Florida or the warmer areas come to get away from our everyday life even if just a short drive. While at the Beach Shack you will feel at home whether it is for a weekend -a week - or a month. The warm "Good Mornings" from those on the beach looking for Shark's Teeth (which are abundant if you look) or those you pass while walking/biking just makes you feel like you have found your Home Away from Home. The Beach Shack of Manasota Key will become a favorite and repeat destination for you- Promise!!
