Historical Home In East Austin with Soul
I AM NEW TO VRBO BUT HAVE A 4.97 RATING FROM 34 GUESTS ON AIRBNB
A historic home with love and soul - this turn of the century Victorian bungalow is located in vibrant East Austin. Hidden behind a wall of rosemary and olive trees, the space is welcoming, open and airy. Recently updated but true to retaining its craftsman characteristics, this two bedroom, one bath is a charming and romantic escape just within the downtown footprint.
The house is minimally decorated to keep it airy and sun drenched. High ceilings. Original pine flooring and early 1900 detailing that have been updated to feel cozy and new.
I call this area the "Brooklyn of Austin." Within two blocks of the house you have hip market store Quickie Pickie with grub and beer on tap, East Side Pies (arguably the best pizza in Austin), Micklethwait BBQ, Blue Dahlia Bistro and lots of lovely little shops. Within walking distance is East 6th Street which is packed with restaurants, food trailers, dive bars, and chic restaurants. Downtown proper is a stone's throw away and easily accessible by foot or ride shares.
Beyond charming and romantic.

Foire aux questions
Qui vous reçoit ?
Vous ĂȘtes reçu par Erika
I love traveling abroad or in my backyard and have found vacation rentals to be the best way to immerse yourself in a city/town. I take a great deal of care in my vacation rental property and take equal as much care for the homes I stay.
Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?
In an incredibly fast growing place like Austin, historic homes are rare and very protected by our city. The architecture, neighborhood and story of this house make it a unique stay where you can either cozy in or venture out to all the surrounding happenings.
Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?
Benjamin F. Lee House
The ca. 1902 Benjamin F. Lee House is an excellent representation of a vernacular transitional turn-of-the-century house and has great significance in the African-American history of Austin for its associations with Benjamin F. Lee, the proprietor of the Ideal Colored Mutual Aid Association, a vital institution in the cityâs African-American community.
In 1927, the house was purchased by Benjamin F. and Lizzie Lee. Lee was the president of the Ideal Colored Mutual Aid Association on 6th Street. Mutual aid societies grew out of the African-American churches, which had provided fellowship during times of illness and helped with funeral expenses. Mutual aid societies provided health and burial benefits for African-Americans who were denied insurance in the segregated society. Leeâs Ideal Colored Mutual Aid Association was one of Austinâs most prominent African-American businesses of it's time.
