We stayed here for 6 nights during our sonâs naval RTC graduation. Very convenient if your sailor is staying in GL for A school and has liberty all weekend. So close to the base. Plenty of space for lots of family members. Older home but it is clean, communication with owner was good and they allowed us a late check out to spend as much time with our sailor.
The owner of the property was easy to communicate with and very helpful. Our family has stayed at two houses from the owner and each house is beautiful and well taken care of. Two graduations from Navy boot camp and two pleasant stays! I would recommend this house or any other of the owners properties.
Very large house. Great for families. Lots of room. Ideas for improvement- offer more dishes, silverware, etc. since large groups can stay there. Offer basic cleaning supplies so people can clean countertops after using. Offer extra hand towels and kitchen towels for cleaning. Have directions for tv use. Recommendations for places to eat/things to do.
The house is old and in need of updates. We arrived at night, and the house was difficult to locate because it did not have a numbered address on the house. We had to use the process of elimination. The owners reached out once, only asking, "Have you checked into your VRBO?" I asked them several questions without a reply. It is close to the Naval Base, but if I could do it again, I would rent in Libertyville or Forest Lakes.
These people have no idea what clean means! Theyâre rude and despicable! Donât stay at this property unless you want sour garbage cans, old condiments in the fridge, hair everywhere, dirty dishes, pots and pans, spiders, and bed bugs! BEWARE OF THE CASH GRAB! The owner doesnât care about sanitation or comfort of his guest. Yet, he will tell you how amoral and unethical you are for reporting him to Vrbo for misrepresenting the condition of the property.
The home was exactly as describedâa basic roof over our heads with no real luxury. It was relatively clean, though nothing special. We had just enough towels for the duration of our stay, and the beds werenât particularly comfortable. The biggest advantage was its location, just down the street from the Navy Base where my son was graduating. Aside from that, there wasnât much else to highlight, though the space itself was quite large.Check-in was easy, and the management company was accommodating when I spoke with them. Overall, it was a decent deal for the price and convenience. However, the neighborhood felt a bit sketchy. That said, it served its purpose for what we needed.
This property was not equipped for the weather we experienced. We could not keep a consistent heat. The downstairs bedroom was literally freezing. I reached out twice to the owner and mgr and NO response. Iwould not stay again or
The home is very close to base and was clean. The stairs to the second floor are old and not straight which can be a hazard. It worked for what we needed.
This was a nice spacious home for our family to get together and celebrate Navy boot camp graduation. Very close to base and the NEX to pick up graduation tickets the night before.
We were in town for my sons Boot Camp graduation and the location was perfect. Weâre were 8 minutes from the base and the location of the family meet & greet the night before. The neighborhood was quiet and we were able to enjoy a relaxing day with our new Sailor. If he ever ends up in Great Lakes again, I would definitely book this house again when visiting! The owners were great to communicate with for anything.
Thank you for a perfect spot for our awesome weekend
Lots of room and home was clean. Beds were comfortable. Sam who was our contact was responsive about troubles using the coded door knob. We had an issue with the fridge/freezer not working at arrival, but we had some tools with us and were able to remedy it on our own after we notified Sam. It is close to the base but noise isn't a big issue other some traffic noise to front from upstairs bedroom - it didn't impede our sleep.
It was a roof over your head. The only compliment is that the beds were good. Entry into the house was difficult. The only TV that worked was in the living room. The laundry room was locked, so a 5 day stay with no accommodations to laundry.
If youâre looking for a place thatâs clean and no communication from the owners then this is the place for you.
We would not have booked if we would have seen outside pictures that showed the boarded up house next door. The drive way is fully fenced in and difficult to navigate. Neighborhood is a bit questionable.
The house is on a super busy street which was noisy.
We did not receive check in details until we reached out to VRBO to obtain the hosts contact information an hour before our check in time and never received any check out instructions.
The house was decently clean. It was very close to the Naval base which made it convenient for pick up and drop off of our graduate so it worked for our basic needs.
All would have been completely 5âïžif it wasnât for the location. The hosts were very responsive and helpful! The home was spacious. Stairs are hard to navigate to the second floor. Great to have streaming services instead of local cable. Definite plus! I should have looked at the crime stats before booking. My son and his very young family decided to leave and stay at a hotel. We did see open drug use and heard late evening gunfire. That is just not what we are used to. A little on edge with that considered.
I agree with all of the reviews that the location to Recruit Training Command is second to none. We picked up and dropped off my son every day no problem. It was extremely convenient.
What people should be aware of is the neighborhood is a bit rough. The place is on a fairly major road, so road noise and street lighting is a constant presence. The place is definitely "humble" in the beds are not the most comfortable, and odd things like the hot and cold water are swapped in a couple faucets. You will not sneak up on anyone in this place as the floorboards creak everywhere!
Having said that, I had zero issues. I ran into one of the neighbors who was very friendly. I would stay there again.
AC does not work well - too hot the whole time. had to clean lots of things including lights and floors and bathrooms. not many supplies - had to bring a lot of our own things. need to have fans for every bedroom. half bath on 1st floor does not drain properly. the door lock/combo is not very good - not easy and cannot see when the sun is shining on it. although we had sufficient space I would not recommend.
The only thing good about this house was the location. It was horrible in every other way. First thing was that we never recieved a code to disarm the alarm system so for 3 minutes we heard the siren. We had to call to get the code to shut it off. Then when we made our way into the house we noticed not one but two holes in the master bathroom celling not little ones either. Thirdly when making our way up the stairs my whole family tripped up them because of the unevenness of the stair lengths no warning was given for this before arriving. Now on to how dirty it actually was. We encounter clumps of hair on the living room floor, hair on the sheets, and stains throughout the house. It was a challenge to find outlets that worked. The description stated a quiet neighborhood however the neighbors were sitting in their car at all hours blaring music. My children could not sleep due to the constant noises the house was making. Now to the worst of the worst, we found mouse droppings on the counter and a cheese stick had been chewed through the middle. The counter top pattern was obviously chosen to hide this but it was very clearly seen by us all. We came to have a happy occasion with our son graduating bootcamp and it turned in to a nightmare with the accommodation.
Thank you very much! This was the perfect location for my sonâs navy graduation it accommodated everyone and I was able to do all my cooking for a huge friend and family meal. The rooms were very spacious and the living area was perfect for hosting the extra friends and family That came over to celebrate the navy graduation Thanksgiving and Christmas all wrapped up into one. The location was only four minutes for pick up and drop off, which was absolutely perfect. There was no time wasted on the road not getting to see my son. I want to personally thank the host for accommodating our needs. It was very much appreciated.!!!
Perfect for Navy graduation. Minutes from the base. Cozy home in a quiet neighborhood. Plenty of room and very clean. An older house that's been well taken care of. For me, it felt like visiting 'grandma's house'. Very homey and comfortable. The host is great too.
