This cabin is located off the main road, about one mile down a gravel road. It feels very secluded but it’s not. Downtown Blue Ridge is a short drive away. The weekend we visited, there was an ice/snow warning, so we were a bit stressed about the extreme incline of the the paved driveway. We decided to park at the time of the driveway, across the road, in a little pull off area, as opposed to the driveway. Thank goodness we did or we would have been stuck!
Once at the cabin, we were very pleased! The cabin is very clean with anything you could need for a short stay. There is a decent sized living/kitchen area, with nice leather furniture and a fireplace. Beautiful views our all of the windows. There were also board games and s’mores makings- nice touch!
On the first floor there was a private room with a queen bed and another private bedroom with twin beds. The beds are for kids less than 12- otherwise there’s not enough room between the top and bottom bunk. My kids enjoyed them. The bathroom for these two bedrooms is the first level bathroom, off the living area. Upstairs, there’s a king size bed with a private bathroom. It is open air to the rest of the cabin. Nice view from this room.
The best parts of this retreat are the double decks and fireplace area. They all over look a running stream. It feels like a treehouse because the cabin is built into the hillside. In the summer, you could definitely get in the creek. The bottom deck is huge and a great place for kids to play! Lots of nice touches like strong lights which mad the nighttime feel magical. For dog lovers or people with little kids, the whole deck area is connected and gated in.
The outdoor areas would be challenging for people with mobility issues.
I would defiantly recommend this cabin- it is a serene break away from everyday life.
