We had such a wonderful stay at Gregâs condo! It was perfect for a family vacation- our three year old granddaughter loved running out on to the lawn every morning to say good morning to the birds and look for lizards. We ended up cooking for the majority of the stay, making good use of the communal BBQâs on the property. Overall a very quiet property, lots of couples and families staying there. We would stay again with no hesitation!
Very close to the water. We could see whales from the porch! Green sea turtles came to the beach just below this property to rest! A great spot for excursions leaving from Lahaina. I'd definitely rent this again.
We were two couples travelling together on our honeymoons and this was an absolutely wonderful stay. The bedrooms/bathrooms are modest but comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped. The view from the lanai - amazing! Watching whales from the lanai, and even from the sofa, priceless! Definitely would stay here again.
Everything about this place was wonderful! The host was so nice, informative and helpful! Great snorkeling beach with so many turtles! The neighbors were all friendly. There is a lovely lady that teaches water aerobics in the pool every morning! Wonderful!
The place was dungi with mold in the window shades, and stains on the sheets. I had to fold a dryer of towels before I unpacked my own bag. There were 4 of us for 7 days and we had one 1 wash only box of laundry soap, watered down dish soap and one dishwasher load of soap. Makes it hard to clean up!
The complex was extremely nice, but the condo could use a little TLC. The beds were a little mushy and the pullout couch was terrible. My son had a hard time sleeping on it. There is no air conditioner and it was hot Some fans worked well and some were too slow but there are nice breezeâs through the many windows. Paint lightbulbs and screens need work. But overall it is in a great location. Good sunsets, snorkeling and many many turtles. Iâd still go back there but would bring a sleeping mat for the pullout
We have stayed at this property many times over the last 30 years and love the location however, the state of the condo continues to deteriorate. The cleanliness of the property was terrible. There was glass on the floor, previous tenants belongings were on coffee table, hadn't been swept, vacuumed or mopped. I told the owner on the first day and he fired the housekeepers but offered no cleaning for our 2 week stay. The lock on one door was broken and reported to owner and he said it would be repaired. It was not. We bought a skillet to use because the ones in condo were worn out and washed everything before using due to the lack of cleanliness upon arrival.
This is a fabulous unit but definitely needs some TLC. Hopefully the owners will invest a bit of money and time and get this condo back to where it should be for the price.
We just returned home today from what was an amazing stay for us at the Polynesian Shores Unit 126, owned by Greg Salmon. We really couldn't have asked for better.
We arrived late the first night to find the unit opened up, the lights on and the beds ready for my 4 person family. We tucked the little ones into each of their own twin beds and then we were off to slumber in our own king bed in the well appointed master bedroom. The sounds of waves crashing on the beach came through our louvered windows along with the ocean breezes. It was perfect and alluded to what we would see in the morning.
Because of the 4 hour time difference for us, we woke early the next day to two walls of sliding doors just off our kitchen and living room. Our two sided lanai provided for an amazing view of the wide open sea. An amazing treat from this corner unit. I drove off to the local Times Market (much nicer and cheaper than Safeway) and picked up breakfast ingredients and was back in a flash making breakfast in our well appointed and fairly new kitchen with stainless appliances. It was perfect.
Each evening the sunsets from our patio, the well appointed and lovely cared for grounds, and ocean deck were AMAZING.Speaking of the the grounds, look for Andy! He is a great guy, there almost every day and bonded immediately with our kids, who sought him out every day to say good morning.
The majority of Polynesian Shores is rented out as vacation rentals with only a few full time residents. Most guests stay for several days, so you start to make friends with some. It's fun and gave the kids some friends to play with at night. We never used the pool, but many did and it looked lovely.
The location is pretty nice, with nothing being too far away and the best beach we found for our 4 and 2 year old was Baby beach and it was only 5 minutes away.
Are there problems here? Not really. Yes, you will find bugs and occasional ants. It is a warm tropical island, expect that anywhere. They aren't a huge problem, but you will see them. Don't like bugs? Don't come to an island. Noise is not a problem, unless you don't like the ocean. They have quiet hours from 10-8 each day and they are pretty well respected. Rude smokers occasionally will sneak a puff on the walkways and pollute your space, but only they are to blame. There is a designated smoking area well away from the units, but some smokers can't seem to walk.
We loved our stay.
Condo as described. Very clean and all amenities in working order. Sat on the patio and watched whales and green turtles just off shore. Definitely recommend this property.
Brought kids and grandkids to Gregâs condo. It did not disappoint. Unit was well furnished and nice⊠but the location and view were spectacular!!
Resort is great⊠quiet and has a real Aloha feeling.
Great whale watching and we were greeted by the best rainbow ever on our last day.
The best part of the condo is the wrap around lanai. It was wonderful to walk out the sliding door and be right by the ocean. The sandy beach is very small and you need to use caution when entering the water due to so many rocks and coral. We saw many snorkelers in front of the property. So many turtles!
The kitchen is compact, but very easy to work in. Both my husband and I could comfortably prep meals together. We had everything we needed, except a can opener.
The living room furniture and beds were comfortable. We were able to fall asleep listening to the waves.
The fan in the master bathroom didnât work and the shower curtain had mildew. The curtain in the living room also had some mildew. I realize the condo is near the water and it must be hard to control the moisture, but having a fan in the bathroom should help.
The only problem we had was that the front door lock did not work because the battery was low. We got locked out and had to wait in the rain for an hour waiting for someone to come. I had contacted the owner that morning, and offered to change the battery, he responded very quickly and said he would contact the manager. We gave the owner our contact number and waited around the condo all day, but no one came. When we returned from dinner the door would not unlock. I contacted the owner, but got no response. My husband called the condo manager, who was not on property. I called the owner again, who answered and said that someone was supposed to come out that day. Then he called the condo manager and called us back saying it would be just a few minutes later. In total, we were locked out for close to an hour. I was disappointed the owner offered no apology, nor did he check to see if we got in.
Views were amazing, property was also very well maintained. It was very hot and humid.
We enjoyed our stay. We were not expecting it to be as hot and humid during the stay. Fans helped a little. But we had to go find AC or to a different ocean view to get cool each day between 3-6 pm. There is direct sun on the condo and very little shade on the property. We also made the mistake of pulling up Maui weather before booking, which is abut 7-10 degrees cooler than where the condo is located. The condo and property is as described, Condo interior is dated and could use a few upgrades.
yeah, the proximity to the water is amazing; no major problems
I chose this place because of its proximity to the water, and it delivered. The mere pictures and video of the unit can't capture the true essence of the place. You have to really be there to experience how amazing you will feel, when you are in the place and taking in the view and sounds of the ocean, sunsets, rocks, and immaculate foliage & landscaping. My favorite view was actually from the inside of the condo (you have to pull the curtains all the way back), while eating dinner around sunset time. Mornings were great, too, while simply hanging out on the back porch. (Don't feed the many birds that hang out with you in the early morning.) The two bathrooms were very important to my family and they were great, with the exception of the mold stains on curtain in the master bathroom. They didn't bother me because they were just stains, but they bothered my SO. Beds and furniture were all very comfortable. One of my kids loved the hot tub by the pool. The pool was very nice, too. Unlike what some previous posters have mentioned, it's not unbearably hot in the unit. In fact, it's very moderate in terms of temperature. Just open the windows and run the fans and you will be fine (although I couldn't get one of the fans in the main living area to work--but I didn't need it anyway). Evenings are actually kid of chilly, if you let the cross-breeze go through the condo. Also, unlike what a few previous posters mentioned, it was very quiet for the entire duration of our stay. Kitchen has all the utensils and cooking items that you will need, if you are one that prefers to cook all your meals. The host was very responsive and helped quickly resolve minor problems. I thought it was weird that I got the code to the lock via a packet in an email attachment, rather than through the VRBO site, and the lock brand is actually different from the one described in the packet, but the minor difference is easy to figure out. The so-called small sandy beach near the condo unit is washed out, which I'm guessing happened during the hurricane/tropical storm that happened a few weeks before we arrived. I didn't go snorkeling or surfing in the water near the condo, but I saw a few (not many) doing so, and I thought they were insane because of how the waves crashed into the rocky shoreline. I thank VRBO and the host for providing a stay that will be a lifetime of good memories for my entire family.
This is a perfect place to rest and enjoy incredible views. The condo was clean, even after a small snafu with the cleaners - it was corrected immediately. The property is well maintained and the noise is monitored so no one is partying all night. What a perfect vacation place.
Condo and location were great. Corner front unit. We had a slight delay checking in, the cleaning crew was still there at 3pm... check in time... and were finished by 3:45pm. Rest of the stay was perfect.
We have stayed in several resort locations when visiting maui. This by far was our best experience. The unit was well stocked the view was phenomenal we enjoyed the sunrises and sunsets. The location was perfect we enjoyed the 5 minute walk to a snorkel beach. The unit had boogie boards, beach chairs and snorkel gear. It felt like a home away from home it was hard to leave. Suggestions not deal breakers, Escalating fans would have helped since the unit has no air. The trade winds made it comfortable and the back room has a jungle vibe so it was the coolest room in the house. The Box fans didn't work very well. My suggestion would be to put in some barbecue tools as there was only one and it was broken. I almost feel like I didn't want to mention it because our stay was so perfect. Our next trip to maui will definitely be at Greg's place.
The location and views at this property would be difficult to beat. The turtle watching, sunsets, and views of Molok'ai and Lanai are amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting outside at night after sight-seeing during the day. The people were friendly, and the pool and hot tub were added bonuses. All the necessities were provided. We would have given this property 5 stars if it weren't for the lack of cleanliness. We highly recommend this property for a wonderful Maui vacation.
Walking down the path to our condo we were met with a Monarch Butterfly breeding ground. With dozens of butterflies welcoming and fluttering around us each day. The condo and grounds were a clean open air space to relax. While there was a little repair needed, Greg responded and we didn't let it affect our stay in paradise. The turtles, whales, tropical birds and perfect scenery never stopped amazing us. Great location! We were referred by family and now its our turn to refer others.
Beautiful and relaxing location right on the water. Perfect for whale watching and sipping cocktails on the lanai. Could use a little maintenance, but well worth the cost for the location! You're not really in Hawaii for the room, right?!
