I was surprised to read such a negative review, particularly since the guest also noted that the home was clean, well kept, very close to the beach, and that communication with me was excellent throughout their stay. I inspected the bunk bed immediately after checkout. The only issue was that two slats from the upper bunk had slid off their rails. They were simply placed back into position, which took only a few seconds, and the bunk bed is fully functional. Regarding the air fryer, an air fryer is not advertised or included in our VRBO amenities. In fact, the guest specifically asked me about a week before arrival whether the house had one, and I clearly advised that it did not, so I am unsure why its absence was later considered a problem with the listing. The toaster was brand new. When the guest informed me that it was not working, I immediately let them know where they could find the additional toaster we keep in the house so they would not be inconvenienced. As for the air conditioning, August and early September are among the hottest periods of the year in Southwest Florida, and outdoor temperatures during this stay reached around 100°F. During the hottest part of the day, the home remained around 75°F, which is a very reasonable indoor temperature under those extreme conditions. Unlike many vacation rentals that restrict how low guests can set the thermostat, we allow guests more flexibility, and the thermostat was being set as low as 67°F overnight. I also think it is important to provide some context. Three days before arrival, the guest requested to cancel the Labor Day weekend reservation for a full refund. Unfortunately, this was outside our clearly stated seven-day cancellation/refund period. Labor Day is also a high-demand holiday weekend that is normally booked well in advance, making a last-minute cancellation particularly difficult to rebook. We always take guest feedback seriously and address legitimate issues promptly. I am nevertheless pleased that the guest acknowledged the home's cleanliness, location, value, and our communication, and that their family ultimately had a good time.
