The location to some of the parks was good. The kitchen had to be cleaned by me when we got there. Sticky messes in the fridge, crumbs on counters and tables. We were sad to discover there was no toaster. The morning we were trying to pack up, get some breakfast, and leave, a worker showed up to work in the house. We felt very uncomfortable and rushed. The house was large and had plenty of room. The yard was set up for nice picnics and outdoor sitting. Plenty of blankets and towels for the hot tub.
We had a fabulous stay at Kicking Horse Kabins! Itâs about 12-15 minutes outside of Golden, a perfect location for hikes, access to parks and an overall peaceful stay! And a quick drive into town for dinners etc. The cabin is as advertised and has everything we needed. Brought our 2 dogs who had the time of their life!! The cabin is vey close to some awesome trails that are sparsely populated, if anyone. Karen is a gracious host and checked on us a couple of times. Loved everything about it.
Our family of 5 based ourselves in Golden when we visited the Canadian Natâl Parks in the area. Although it was a little far to the popular Banff park and nearby attractions we loved exploring the town of Golden. The cabin was roomy and comfortable. Only two caveats: the cabin doesnât have a washing machine in the unit as noted in the listing. And although we were asked to leave the kitchen orderly and clean we really werenât given sufficient cleaning supplies - (kitchen sponges, Comet, scrubbers etc) to do so. Just a worn scrubbing brush. I made do as best I could. It was a minor inconvenience. Loved being woken up to the serenade of the wolves at the nearby sanctuary. Be sure and pay them a visit!
For a small family reunion of 6 adults, The Lodge was an outstanding choice. Loved that the 3 bedrooms all had king size beds that were so comfortable. We made use of the hot tub while listening to the wolves howling.A beautiful private and quiet location that I would recommend to anyone. Thanks Karen!
Great place! Amazing location with beautiful views! The cabin was clean, with a well stocked kitchen and was spacious with plenty of room for 7 of us and a puppy. We loved that the Wolf Centre and Buffalo ranch were within walking distance! It was a pleasure to meet our host Karen, her hospitality was outstanding and she made us feel so welcome! We would definitely recommend staying here!
The cabin was well decorated, clean, and well stocked. The owners have notes for every question you might have! The back deck and hot tub were a nice place to hang out. We were able to hear the wolves howl, and saw a fox and deer!
Hot tub was great, especially with such a good view, cabin was an excellent standard and we loved the location. My daughter loved the woodpecker door knocker!
We visited in the winter, the place was nice, I missed the email with checkin instructions, but it worked out well with the host. We did think from the listing there was a clothes washer but only has a dish washer.
Cabin was spacious and clean. Beds were comfortable and King Beds are our favourite. Lots of amenities and the hot tub was a real treat after sledding or skiing all day. The host was available to help with any issues we had and they were dealt with in a timely manner. Great holiday for the family.
We stayed two nights as our base for skiing in Rogers Pass and Kicking Horse. The Lodge was perfect for two small families with lots of space for hanging out and a big yard to play in the snow.
We had a wonderful 2 night stay for a bachelorette. Lots of space, the beds and linens were wonderful. Really enjoyed the hot tub and listening to the wolves at night. Karen was wonderful and quick to respond to any questions!
My family came to visit Canada for a couple weeks from South Africa so we chose to spend a couple days at the Kicking Horse Kabins and do some sightseeing with a 4 month old baby and a weiner dog. We arrived around 7pm at check in and it was a breeze. We didnt have to bother with keys and everything was available. We had to bath our baby as soon as we got there, and thats the only negative thing, the bath plug was leaking so we had to bath baby very quickly before the water ran out. Beda were comfy and soft and nicely decorated. Rooms are the oerfect size. Kitchen was fully equipped and couches were great. The thunderstorm hit out the wifi and Karen quickly came running to fix it for us. The hot tub was AMAZING and we enjoyed it so much, with a drink in hand watching the beautiful sunset through the clouds and view of the mountains thst surrounds the property. We also made a little camp fire and Karen was so nice to offer marshmallows, which were delicious. On the last day (and checkout day) we booked to go see Boo the bear and Eagle Eye restaurant, however we could take our weiner dog with us and Karen offered to watch her while we go exploring. We only picked her up at 2pm the afternoon when we came back from all our activities, I dont know of many hosts that would do that for their guests. To put the cherry on the cake, she baked us some choc chip muffins for the road back to Red Deer Alberta. I would definitely recommend Karenâs place as I will always cherish the memories made there and the great hostessâ hospitality
This is a great property, outfitted with everything you need to enjoy your stay, The property is spacious and laid out in a great manner. Everything has been thought of and the hosts are gracious in their communications and helpful in suggesting things to do.
Since moving to Canada in 2007 from Britain, we wanted to build the perfect mountain getaway - somewhere we would want to stay in on vacation. We've achieved that - and more! After the hustle and bustle of corporate life in London, mountain living is great! We have not yet found that we want to stop smiling!
We expanded our 'portfolio' in 2018 by adding The Kabin at Kicking Horse Kabins, a 435 sq ft, open plan Kabin finished to a very high standard. This completed our ambition to provide (we hope) everything for our guests to have a perfect time here.
First we had to find, the perfect place in the Blaeberry. We then built the 1200 sq ft log lodge, on the land where we live. Our vacation getaway offering is close enough to the house for us to provide a great service, but far enough away for you to have complete privacy from us! We positioned The Lodge and The Kabin so you can see the fantastic mountain scenery from the deck areas, whilst not being overlooked by each other, or us You can sit and relax on the individual decks or in the hot tubs taking in the fabulous views, especially the strong and imposing stance of Goat Mountain, literally at the end of the road!
By adding The Kabin in 2018, we completed our aim to offer guests an option for the perfect mountain escape.
