We saw the local elk herd every day and the location was perfect- it was so easy to get to downtown Cannon Beach and Ecola State Park. Loved this place!
Absolutely a delightful spot! Such a good location to be able to walk everywhere! Major nature right out the front door with elk walking by! We loved it. Thank you.
Great location, walking distance to the beach and town! Plenty of space for the 4 of us with a fireplace to cozy up to when the weather was uncooperative. The perfect beach cabin feel!
Annual Cannon beach get away with family and friends
This home is the perfect location for us when we visit Cannon beach. Just a few steps to the beach and the occasional sighting of the local Elk herd makes it special for us. The home was a nice space for us to hang out and enjoy chatting and eating together. Our host communicated right away and was very helpful. I would highly recommend staying at this home for a Cannon beach getaway!
We have been coming to Cannon Beach for 32 years for Thanksgiving. This house was so perfect for my family, quiet, close to beach and town. A great retreat! Thank uou
My friends and I, all 65+, loved this cozy home. 2blocks from the beach, close to downtown, quiet neighborhood. Hose outside to wash the sand from your feet before entering the house. Spacious bedrooms upstairs and down, very cozy living room. Have to go up steps to enter house, so I would not recommend it to someone using a walker or wheelchair, but great for families. Owner was very responsive to all our questions.
The house was as advertised but second 1/2 bath was hard to find until we went out to the back porch with all the cleaning supplies and found a doorway somewaht hidden.. You wouldn't want to use it unless desperate. The wi fi didn't work and we called the owner in Canada. She didn't know what to do and said she could call provider, and it seemed too big a hassle so we tried to use a wi if in the neighborhood that didn't have a lock. Went to bin where there were supposed to be towels for dogs but nothing was there. Other than these items and that the actual ocean was two blocks up a steep hill, it was great.vvthe kitchen was pretty well stocked with dishes and utensils and all appliances were fine. The owner seemed like the nicest agreeable person, just not familiar with her house.
We occupied 3 out of the 4 bedrooms this house had. Beds were ok, the upstairs King bed was funny as when 2 people laid in it, we tended to roll into each other in the middle (a little saggy). This was a last minute reservation for us and considering it was Jazz Festival and Wine Festival in Seaside, I'm glad we found something in our destination area.
So heres the advice I think you should know before staying here, the 1/2 bath they mention is off the kitchen and does have a heater in it. But knowing my husband is an electrical contractor we were sketchy on using it due to its age and knowing the dated wiring in the house. So it was like going to the bathroom outside since the "back" door leading outside, was right next to the bathroom and you felt this breeze sweeping across you. I do understand that in old homes your going to get these "charms" in these houses but I'm a safety nut so it does bother me knowing it had old wiring and a Zinsco breaker box. There is only one electrical outlet upstairs, so for those of you who have small children and like a night light, there isn't any plug ins. This house is pet friendly, even though we didn't bring our dog I could definetly tell there have been dogs there previously due to certain smells and some black dog hair in the kitchen.
Overall the house is charming, I love the overall feel in the home and the small creek beside the house. It does have a lovely fireplace and really close to the beach, Ecola State Park and you really can walk to town, great location. I think the price is a little on the high end considering all the things the house does lack. I would also hope a good cleaning of the old wood floors to get odors out.
We loved the character of the home. Fireplace worked great! The kitchen had everything we needed. Short weekend trip for a wedding in Cannon Beach. Was a wonderful family weekend full of board games, fires in home and at the beach, good food and conversation! Great locationđ Kind and thorough host, no surprises, will definitely stay here again!
The location offers beach and park access within 10 min walk, town within 15 min walk, very quiet neighborhood, and entertaining bunnies and elk. The owner, Nancy, is very responsive and helpful but mildew smells are a problem. Some of the cabin is modern - the shower, kitchen, and front porch have been renovated. The electrical hasn't been updated so almost all lights are operated with pull switches and you'll want to bring extension cords and power strips to deal with the single outlet per room. There are lots of windows on the ground floor but all except two are secured by storm windows leaving little ventilation. The whole cabin smelled of mildew on our arrival which required purchasing plug-in airwicks and candles to cover up. The worst smell comes from a closet-sized bathroom behind the kitchen and you're best off closing the door to that area unless cooking because there's no range hood or operable windows to the otherwise well-equipped kitchen. Mattress toppers help but beds need replacement. A tip jar for personal laundry? The cabin seems to be well loved by most, and it has tremendous potential, but the odors were a deal breaker for us.
Had a wonderful, relaxing week long stay. Very quiet neighborhood and an extremely well stocked house. A welcome relief from the raucous 4th of July mayhem, for 8 days, in Long Beach, WA.
The modest exterior doesn't hint at the beautiful wooden features of the interior. We had all the amenities we needed.
If the weather had been better, we would have enjoyed the back yard. The neighborhood is quiet, and the wild bunnies are fun.
Cozy home. Quiet neighborhood. Kitchen is stocked with everything you need. Family had a great time. Great host's great communication. Would recommend.
What a great place for family; we enjoyed the bunnies and a herd of elk! Our lab/ retriever loved the close park for endless fetching and the close beach. If you want a clean, rustic, cabin type place this is it.
