This second floor walk up unit is in the heart of Charleston. it is off of King Street, slightly north of broad street. It is close to high end shopping, world class dining and other area attractions.
The location is the real advantage of this property. We could walk to just about any event, theatre or restaurant we wanted. And it has a free garage and finding parking places in the area can be very tricky otherwise.
The apartment is not without some disadvantages however. For one thing the living room window abuts with the lively restaurant next door and it can get noisy until about 10:30. Also, as you would expect in downtown Charleston, the building is old: the floors are slightly crooked, the walls could use a new coat of paint and the sofa is not even IKEA quality. On the other hand the bed is very comfortable, the shower has plenty of hot water and the kitchen will allow one to make good meals.
If you want a brand new apartment there are plenty of nice inns in the area but at slightly more than twice the price of this property.
So if you want location at a good price and are not fussy about having the smartest interior design, this property will suit you just fine.
I don't have enough great things to say about this property and Jane!
pros:
-the location absolutely cannot be beat. tip: put your name in at 167 Raw an hour or two before you want to dine, then go back home and get ready for dinner :)
-Jane is a super host. Her energy is infectious, she is so easy to get ahold of via text/phone call, and she provides everything you could need. I was travelling alone and she made me feel so comfortable and so excited to check out the city.
-the apartment is fully decked out with anything you could need if you plan on cooking or eating at home
-the place itself feels spacious if you plan on spending some downtime there, I had guests most of the time I was here and it never felt cramped in the least and there was more than enough room for a "WFH" set up
cons:
-it's hard for me to come up with one, but the only might be that the bedroom gets a ton of natural light (which is great, of couse) but if you are a light sleeper and want to sleep in, maybe think about bringing an eye mask :)
Can't wait to stay here again!!
What more do you need? A comfy bed, a clean space with a functional kitchen and eat in space, a nice private balcony, and enough room to spread out if necessary. ;-) All within a very short walk to pretty much all Charleston has to offer.
My partner and I stayed in Charleston to take sailing classes in the harbor. We wanted something close to the harbor and close to downtown so we could walk and bike everywhere. This location is perfectâŠwalk out the door and right onto King Street in half a block. We will be back!
The location of Janeâs place could not have been better. We were able to walk everywhere during our stay. The unit itself had so much character and charm but felt clean and comfortable. It was stocked with everything we possibly could have needed from coffee and water to basic toiletries. My favorite part was the little outdoor patio and courtyard. We will definitely have to come back!
