I am happy you had a great time with your family at Mama Bear Cabin. The Guidebook, as well as the posted notice on the front door explained we use the dumpster on the northwest corner next to Papa Bear Lodge and not the west neighbor's private garbage can. We provide 4 double rolls of paper towels for each group visiting and there is an entire drawer of kitchen towels which is also labeled for convenience in locating them. We have a very strict 'NO Pet" policy. In the 5 years I have owned Mama Bear Cabin, there have been only 2 times a dog was allowed in the cabin. Both times they were Certified Service Animals. I will check with the cleaners, who work very hard to make certain the cabin is always sanitized and professionally cleaned about this comment. As to the dead bugs, I will also mention this to them.

When it rains, or when it is a windy day, which it had been prior to your arrival, the large pine trees, surrounding the patio, will drop pine needles onto the porches and outdoor furniture. We provide a leaf blower for our guests to use should this happen. We are happy your wedding was enjoyable and hope you return anytime.

Thank you for your review. I will pass on your feedback to the person who takes care of our hot tub. The hot tub fee is $100 of the total $600 cleaning fee, which should have been spotless. The 50' pinetree hanging over our fence next to the hot tub and in our neighbor's yard, has had some issues this spring with tiny sap droplets blowing into the hottub when the cover is off. These droplets are so small, one cannot even tell when it occurs but with the cover on, the weather outside warm, and the hot tub continuing to be heated to 104 degrees, there has been, on occasion, a musty smell when you first take off the cover. We have cut the limbs back on our side but will probably need to come up with some other ideas how to solve this as the wind continues to blow sap droplets our direction. Our price is a flat fee which includes our cleaning fees. VRBO adds their additional fees, which also includes the 15% taxes required by Garden City and the County. They do charge commissions to both parties, and processing fees to both parties, which I have no control over. The total costs are given to you prior to your booking. They offer a great service but I agree with you. Their fees are alot. Again, thank you for staying at Mama Bear Cabin. We would love having you come anytime again. Janece

We provide 1 towel plus a washcloth and several handtowels per guest. We addition, we have towels especially for the hot tub. We suggest you bring your own beach towels although our towels can and have been used at the beach. We have found that no matter how many towels we put out, they are NEVER enough. Rather than having endless towels lying wet around the cabin etc (which means endless laundry for our cleaners), it is much easier for us to provide towels in this manner. I loved having your wonderful family at Mama Bear Cabin. Right from the time you first emailed me, I felt you were the perfect people to enjoy Mama Bear. You left it so nice and clean, making it much easier for the cleaners to get ready for the following group who arrived just a few hours after you left. That means so much! Please come back!

Thank you for your feedback. I was not aware the cornhoe was broken and had mildew. We have had a very wet summer but no one had notified me of the condition of it. It was new this summer but has had non-stop usage. We will get a metal one to replace it. We will also repair the wagon wheel, which again, was not reported prior to us. Thank you for letting me know. I will ask the cleaners to include sweeping the front porch as time allows. We have LOTS of beautiful pine trees, quakies and other "forested" landscaping that often blows debree into the driveway and front porch from both our property and the neighboring yard. It also blows on the patio furniture, and around the hottub, which can be a nuisance at times. However, the tall stately, mature landscaping is also a favorite with everyone who enjoys being so close to all the fun of Garden City but being in a private forested and natural surrounding. We do provide a blower, and lots of brooms but I will include the information about it and where to locate them in the main laundry room in our "Welcome Guide" in the future, as well as inform our arriving guests that they are stepping into a very "woody, but beautiful property" when they come down the 250' lane. Please come back anytime!

It was so wonderful having Jared bring his family for some "RNR" (Rest and Recovery) at Mama Bear Cabin. They even helped by eating some of all the abundant fruit, which was overflowing...Please come again and bring those darling kids!

I doubled this cedar siding and full log cabin in size enclosing the old garage, and adding the second level into the new addition when I bought it the end in 2020. It went from 4 bedrooms and 3 baths to 10 bedrooms and 5 baths and from 2300 sq feet to 4800 sq feet. This new addition includes the 2nd kitchen, the office area, two bathrooms, 4 bedrooms and The Great Room. It was not structually possible to have a connection on the 2nd floor between the new addition and the original cabin, hence two stairways. Although I find your comments interesting, I disagree that the cabin is best suited for families with kids 10 and under. I designed the cabin to accommodate groups as a place of enjoyment for all ages from 1 to 100. I personally have 6 adult married children, 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren who range in age from newborn to me at age 76! With over 2000 guests we have hosted during the past 3 years, Mama Bear Cabin has had all age groups. Several of our guests have returned numerous times and continue doing so. We have hosted Single Adult only groups; Married Adults with no children groups, including Seniors who appreciate having 1/2 the bedrooms on the main floor; youth groups for teenagers with their adult leaders who have appreciated having two bunk rooms and lots of activites both inside and out when not at the lake; families with small children only, as well as familes with teenagers and/or young adults only; and families like mine, with newborn to great-grandparents enjoying Mama Bear Cabin together. Several of our reviews indicate the cabin is ideal for ALL AGES. We agree! We continue to invite and Include EVERYONE of all AGES and all varieties of groups to come, play and stay at Mama Bear Cabin!
