A wonderful getaway less than 1 hour from Baltimore
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Just a short drive from Baltimore, we were able to reset in nature which was very needed. The house is very clean, well-maintained and well-stocked. It's perfect for a couple. We can't wait to hopefully return in warmer months and spend some time on the deck.
My wife and I really enjoyed outmr stay at the Old Mill House. It was exactly what we were looking for: away from the city, but with all the amenities if home. We especially enjoyed the use of the chimnea and grill on the patio, and the hammock on the balcony. Would definitely stay again!
The property was beautiful and well maintained. It is quiet and secluded, tucked in the woods. The host left everything for us to have a perfect, quiet weekend. The house is nearby to breweries and hiking trails.
The Mill House is wonderful! So charming, peaceful, and clean! Check-in was a breeze and the host was quick to answer any questions that we had. We look forward to staying again when we return to Maryland!
Beautiful, peaceful property. This was the perfect home base for me as I was attending a nearby training immersed in nature. Host was generous and responsive. Can't wait to return with my husband for another getaway.
We had such a wonderful time at this property. The house itself is quaint and comfortable. The surrounding areas are beautiful. I could not think of a better place to get away from it all. We will definitely be returning!
Traveled from Ohio to Maryland for our sonâs wedding. This is our second time staying at the Mill House. It was once again a beautiful, peaceful and perfect retreat! Thank you David for your quick response to any questions we had. We hope to stay again soon!
A superior place to stay. We especially loved the second-floor porch (where we spent hours every day, reading in the morning and watching deer at dusk). Just one very small suggestion: better pillows for the bed and cushions for the outside seats.
This is our third time visiting the Mill House and the reason is simple: it is consistently always clean, quiet, relaxing, and a beautiful place to spend a sunny weekend. We enjoy coming to the Mill House when we want to "disconnect from reality" an recharge. This visit, we made sure to make it and hike some of the great trails in the area which there are many. We'll definitely be returning again in the future.
A lovely home with even lovelier art and amenities nestled in the woods for all the privacy one could want while being surrounded by nature. All one needs for a very relaxing get away. We were in town for a wedding and I only wish I had more time to explore and enjoy.
I was so happy to find this listing close enough for a weekend trip from Baltimore, but far enough that it felt like a million miles away (while still being able to watch the Orioles at a nearby restaurant!) This is a lovely property that feels very private, but not isolated. Everything you'd need was available. Perfect early autumn location with great foliage and hiking trails nearby. We felt at home and are already talking about a return visit!
Everything was lovely, tucked away in a 19th century stone Miller's house in a little valley by a stream. Perfect renovation with all details thought out. We were very comfortable & it was very quiet like being far into the woods, yet so convenient. Splurged to eat at the old Milton Inn in nearby Sparks, also a stone house, for an old fashioned weekend, back in time.
If you get the opportunity to rent this house, do it! The house was beautifully decorated and so comfortable. It had everything we needed. The host was good with communication. The house is located in a quiet and beautiful area with many things to see and do and places to eat nearby. Our favorite part of our stay was taking walks along the road in front of the house. No traffic and a beautiful stream runs alongside the road.
Jackie and David are native Marylanders who love the outdoors. David grew up in Baltimore County and spent many days fishing the trout streams of northern Baltimore County. Both of us love rivers and kayaking and enjoy hiking and camping.
We both fell in love with the Mill House, its peaceful setting and unique history. The previous owners did a beautiful job restoring this circa 1856 house in keeping with its historic character but with modern amenities and conveniences. The original art on the walls was painted by a prior owner. Note the thickness of the house's stone walls, built by human hands over160 years ago.
Solitude and beauty surround you. Be sure to walk down the road past beautiful farms to Little Falls and look for small trout and crayfish in the clear, flowing waters.
