Quaint, Maryland Registered 1856 Mill House close to the NCR Trail, Gunpowder River, Little Falls and Prettyboy Reservoir. Enjoy a quiet retreat in our small but charming cottage near beautiful farms and wooded hills, with a flowing spring, two patios, and second floor porch. Almost five acres of grounds with a stream and small field. The house has a first floor modern kitchen with stone walls and dining area. The second floor is a truly magical log sided living room, bathroom and porch. The bedroom is located on the third floor. A quiet and peaceful retreat for relaxation and rejuvenation, far from the madding crowd (but not too far - Big Truck Farm Brewery is 3 miles away). The fireplace in the house is not presently operational.
A wonderful getaway less than 1 hour from Baltimore
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Just a short drive from Baltimore, we were able to reset in nature which was very needed. The house is very clean, well-maintained and well-stocked. It's perfect for a couple. We can't wait to hopefully return in warmer months and spend some time on the deck.
The property was beautiful and well maintained. It is quiet and secluded, tucked in the woods. The host left everything for us to have a perfect, quiet weekend. The house is nearby to breweries and hiking trails.
My wife and I really enjoyed outmr stay at the Old Mill House. It was exactly what we were looking for: away from the city, but with all the amenities if home. We especially enjoyed the use of the chimnea and grill on the patio, and the hammock on the balcony. Would definitely stay again!
The Mill House is wonderful! So charming, peaceful, and clean! Check-in was a breeze and the host was quick to answer any questions that we had. We look forward to staying again when we return to Maryland!
This is our third time visiting the Mill House and the reason is simple: it is consistently always clean, quiet, relaxing, and a beautiful place to spend a sunny weekend. We enjoy coming to the Mill House when we want to "disconnect from reality" an recharge. This visit, we made sure to make it and hike some of the great trails in the area which there are many. We'll definitely be returning again in the future.
We had such a wonderful time at this property. The house itself is quaint and comfortable. The surrounding areas are beautiful. I could not think of a better place to get away from it all. We will definitely be returning!
If you get the opportunity to rent this house, do it! The house was beautifully decorated and so comfortable. It had everything we needed. The host was good with communication. The house is located in a quiet and beautiful area with many things to see and do and places to eat nearby. Our favorite part of our stay was taking walks along the road in front of the house. No traffic and a beautiful stream runs alongside the road.
A superior place to stay. We especially loved the second-floor porch (where we spent hours every day, reading in the morning and watching deer at dusk). Just one very small suggestion: better pillows for the bed and cushions for the outside seats.
I was so happy to find this listing close enough for a weekend trip from Baltimore, but far enough that it felt like a million miles away (while still being able to watch the Orioles at a nearby restaurant!) This is a lovely property that feels very private, but not isolated. Everything you'd need was available. Perfect early autumn location with great foliage and hiking trails nearby. We felt at home and are already talking about a return visit!
Everything was lovely, tucked away in a 19th century stone Miller's house in a little valley by a stream. Perfect renovation with all details thought out. We were very comfortable & it was very quiet like being far into the woods, yet so convenient. Splurged to eat at the old Milton Inn in nearby Sparks, also a stone house, for an old fashioned weekend, back in time.
Hands down one of our favorite places we have ever booked! You can tell the owners take pride in their rental and donât cheapen out like many other rentals do. So comfy and cozy! The area is so peaceful and our dog loved exploring, including swimming in the creek down the street. Make sure to check out the brewery nearby, itâs great! Weâll definitely be back!
This was our second time at this wonderful place. First stay was in January, so this time we were able to enjoy the outdoor spaces, especially the front balcony & the chiminea.
The house is lovely and extremely comfortable for two people. The kitchen is spacious and well-stocked, the neighborhood is quiet and peaceful, yet close to amenities.
Everything you need for a restorative getaway weekend!
My girlfriend and I were attending a wedding in the area and needed a pet friendly place to stay. This mill house was phenomenal. Everything we could've needed was there including an eno-style hammock on the second floor porch (I spent most of my free time in that hammock.) David is an incredible host and quick to answer with any questions or issues we had. Highly recommend staying here if you're looking for a cozy getaway away from the hustle and bustle lifestyle.
This is the second time my girlfriend and I have stayed here with our dog. We both find so much peace in this property. Everything was perfect just as we remembered it. It was a bit too cold this time around to enjoy the deck as much as last time but the house is so cozy that it didn't bother us. David is a great property manager with punctual communication.
A Big slice of Heaven in a wonderfully well provisioned home. We immediately felt quite comfortable and cared for. Our dog Goose(Black Lab) settled in as if he has been there previously? David - You have done it all the right way! We also appreciated your quick response to messages. Would absolutely recommend the Mill House to family & friends.
Seriously, a 5 âïž place to get away and change your latitude.
My husband and I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Historic Mill House through VRBO for our wedding weekend, and we couldn't be happier with our choice! The house was exceptionally clean, and the kitchen and bathroom had been wonderfully updated. The host had thoughtfully stocked the kitchen with various essentials, which turned out to be a lifesaver when we realized we'd forgotten our shampoo on the morning of our wedding.
The property's yard is an absolute gem. Surrounded by trees, it offers a tranquil and private atmosphere, making it a perfect space for kids and pets to run around freely. One of our favorite moments was sipping coffee on the second-story balcony in the mornings, and then later enjoying evening grill sessions around the fire.
We wholeheartedly recommend this place and are already planning our return. It was an unforgettable experience!
Traveled from Ohio to Maryland for our sonâs wedding. This is our second time staying at the Mill House. It was once again a beautiful, peaceful and perfect retreat! Thank you David for your quick response to any questions we had. We hope to stay again soon!
Jackie and David are native Marylanders who love the outdoors. David grew up in Baltimore County and spent many days fishing the trout streams of northern Baltimore County. Both of us love rivers and kayaking and enjoy hiking and camping.
We both fell in love with the Mill House, its peaceful setting and unique history. The previous owners did a beautiful job restoring this circa 1856 house in keeping with its historic character but with modern amenities and conveniences. The original art on the walls was painted by a prior owner. Note the thickness of the house's stone walls, built by human hands over160 years ago.
Solitude and beauty surround you. Be sure to walk down the road past beautiful farms to Little Falls and look for small trout and crayfish in the clear, flowing waters.
