It was an unpleasant stay. The house had a strong musty smell throughout, and there were cobwebs on the living room ceiling fan and near the upstairs bathroom entrance. I developed allergies and had to cut my vacation short because of it. The upstairs bathroom is also very small and not suitable for adults.Iâve attached photos for reference. I would not recommend this property if youâre traveling with more than two adults, or if cleanliness is important to you.
The property was very clean and neat. Unfortunately, I did not realize when I looked at the property that we were in the top unit which required going up a flight of stairs which is hard on my husband's knees. And while the property is very close to the little Village, one must walk on the edge of a windy road. So most of my issues for an 'average' rating were due to my inexperience with VRBO. I should have asked more questions. The host, Roberta, was very gracious and helpful so 5 stars for her!
I booked this cabin for a weekend getaway for my family. We arrived at the property at 6:00 pm and as soon as we opened the door we noticed a strong dusty/musty smell. We proceed to the living room and we noticed dust webs on the table lamp, ceiling fan and on the big sofa. We couldn't believed it. It seemed like it hasn't been cleaned for a long time. We went upstairs to also noticed dust webs on the ceiling fans and the bed covers smelled like dust. They weren't recently washed bed covers. This is completely unacceptable. The place was organized but dusty and musty smelled told us that it wasn't ready. It definitely needed cleaning and ventilation. We couldn't stay. My kid started coughing. We had to go back. We were totally disappointed. I contacted Roberta and explained the situation. She was understanding and refund us the rest of your stay.
We had a great time on our first visit to Lake Arrowhead. This cabin was 5 minutes drive to the shops and restaurants. There was another little town not too far from this location. We went to Big Bear one of our days there which was also a short drive. We preferred lake arrowhead. We will definitely be back when there is snow. The cabin has everything you need!
Roberta was a wonderful host. The place is even better in person. Truly a 10 minute walk to the Village or the Lake Arrowhead resort (best drinks and ambiance by far). We walked everywhere we went from grabbing a tea or coffee and going to the little antique shops along the road. My friends and I needed a 2 day getaway from kids and husbands and we thoroughly enjoyed being cozy in the cabin and the mountain fresh air sitting on the deck. Definitely coming back.
The property was nice with some apparent evidence of its age. The waterbed in the upstairs bedroom was a throwback to an era long past. The appliances provided were adequate with the exception of a blender to make the morning smoothie or afternoon margaritas. I think adding paper plates and a better quality TP would not hurt either.
This place is a 10/10! The home was very cozy, super clean, great kitchen dishes and cookware to use. The location was amazing too! Very close to Lake Village. We loved the cozy vibe and will definitely be retuning! Super nice that the TVs were easy to use as well! Kid approved too!
Our family had a wonderful weekend getaway in Lake Arrowhead at Roberta's fantastic cabin. The location was so serene in the forrest but close enough to the village for a great selection of places to eat and things to see.
My best friend and I needed a quiet getaway from the busy life. We found this quiet cabin and it was everything as advertised. We forgot to make the second payment the day of checking in and Roberta gave us a call; she was so kind and considerate. She said she usually likes to have the blinds open for guests but didnât have a chance to do so. She kindly offered to drive (a long drive) to come down and open them for us. We told her it was completely fine and we thought we could manage.
Once we arrived, we parked right in front (there is a concrete slab nearby but that is the neighbors parking). Once we walked in, we were floored how clean and cozy the cabin was!!! We even walked in to a box of Godiva that did not last long. đ
We used the kitchen and it was so quaint and the cabin had everything we needed: towels, heating, cooking utensils, etc
At night, the area was so quiet and peaceful that we just had to start a fire in the fireplace. We donât drink but there was a really cool bar area that just needs a little bit of tlc for the lighting as I think one of the lights has a short. Itâs cold and Iâm really cold like comes in waves like Iâll be fine.
Roberta is an absolute delight. I hope we can stay in her cabin again
Great house, great communicaiton. Only downside was the upstairs show did not function well so everyone had to shower in bottom shower. Even though, I would stay there again!
I booked this cabin to have a couple nights away from my home and relax. My great grandfather built the original buildings around Lake Arrowhead and the last time I visited was in the late 70âs so I wanted to visit again. The cabin is rustic and super quaint. It is not overly remodeled and it has a mountain charm that brought us back to memories with our past loved ones. It was super quiet and it had a very cozy charm. Our host was easy to contact and everything we needed was supplied. I will be back with my grown daughter for a stay as it is so close but feels far away. I had booked another property that was a nightmare and cost me a lot of money. Roberta had rules posted all towels and bedding were clean and the bedding kept us very warm and cozy. Thank you for everything!
We enjoyed staying in this cozy home! Everything was pretty clean and instructions were easy to follow. Roberta was amazing with her communication! I Would stay here again.
Our family of 3 adults really enjoyed our stay here! The vintage two-level cabin was exactly as advertised. We found the 3 bedrooms very comfortable. We loved the big picture window in the main room. We were there during winter storms, so being close to the Village, shopping, and dining was a huge plus. It would be rather hazardous to walk, however, especially in winter and at night. There was only one heat outlet, which was in the main room, but it worked great. We really appreciated the electric blankets and space heater. We also made good use of the fireplace, which we didn't know in advance was even an option. As advertised, this is an older cabin, so there's no dishwasher, a cramped upstairs shower, and only a curtain separating the downstairs bedroom and main room. No big deal. Two minor quibbles: First, we were surprised there was no shovel to clear an exit for our car when blocked by snow. We bought one for $23 at CVS and left it for your next stay there! Second, I've had the same pet peeve in every rental this year. I hate the trend of BOYTV! The Roku setup was fine for streaming. But it's nearly impossible to find normal local, network, and cable/satellite programming, such as news and weather. A basic monthly cable or satellite subscription only costs about half of one night's rental and should be included, IMHO! That said, it's a sign of the times. The positives far outweighed any slight complaints and I'd gladly return to this cabin again!
Great lil cabin surrounded by tall trees seemingly visible through a window at every turn. Very close to the village but still felt isolated. Comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen and a rustic A frame cabin vibe. Best of all, a huge fireplace! Our host Roberta was great. Accessible and friendly, answered all our questions.
