Snow is a common occurrence anytime from September-April in the Colorado Rockies.. We highly recommend 4 or all wheel drive vehicles during those months. There are occasional short term road closures due to weather where you may be delayed for a few hours. We do not offer refunds for these events. Most of the winter is sunny and mild with no snow.
Our cabin is located in Rainbow Valley, and is just below, and looks up at Sentinel Point which is the second highest spot atop Pikes Peak.
It's only:
35 minutes to Garden of the Gods
40 minutes to Colorado Springs
45 minutes to Royal Gorge,
12 minutes to Historic Cripple Creek/Victor
20 minutes to Florissant Fossil Fields National Monument
10 minutes to Mueller State Park
The last mile to the Blue Spruce Cabin is on county maintained gravel roads full of curves and steep in spots. We highly recommend 4 wheel or all wheel drive vehicles from October-April due to the possibility of snow.
We also will provide you with step by step directions and a map which you should print out, because your phone and possibly GPS probably won't work in spots up here. And if it does, it may send you to roads that don't exist.
You can switch to WIFI calling when you reach the cabin.
