Entire house two blocks from Lake Erie beach & one block from park/playground
We spent 8 months rehabbing this home! We saw much potential in this 3 bedroom home within walking distance to beautiful Lake Erie (.2 miles), the Port Clinton city park/playground (.1 mile), downtown restaurants, bars, shopping, the Jet Express ferry. and fishing charters (1.0 mile). It has new flooring and paint, fully upgraded kitchen, stacked washer/dryer in laundry room , and new bathroom/shower. On the outside patio, is a gas grill, fire pit, and outdoor table with seating for 6 and an overhead umbrella that can be lit at night. Please do not park on the Patio or drivewayâŠ. there is plenty of parking at the street. This place is a safe and quiet neighborhood with lovely neighbors but there is a train track a block away with frequent traffic but usually not that loud. This home is air conditioned, each bedroom has a ceiling fan and lighted closets. Kitchen has seating for 8 people to dine comfortably, coffee machine, microwave, dishwasher, smooth top electric stove and water/ice through the door side by side refrigerator. Will comfortably sleep six with possibilities for more, using living room couch. Fishermen are welcome but cleaning of fish and disposing of fish waste is not allowed and will have to be done elsewhere.
It was honestly everything we wanted and more for a short notice family getaway. The property was great, the hosts were responsive and helpful. Perfect location for the activities we were looking for, like the water park, the beach, the ferry, and fishing. We will definitely stay there again if we go back to that area.
Overall, we had a great stay. House was cute and perfect size for a small family (3-5 people). The outdoor area was a huge plus and the location was perfect. Owners were very responsive.
Port Clinton is a perfect half way point to visit some family! We enjoyed our stay, especially with the park and lake so close! Thanks for a great getaway!
We were traveling to Cedar Point for Halloweekend's. The house was perfect for us. Roomy and comfortable. I loved the sun porch. It had everything we needed.
Several of us stayed here for the National Matches. Accommodations were clean, well maintained, and the hosts were extremely communicative. Will look for this place again next year!
Property was just as described, clean, and at a great location to get on the lake every day. Excellent communication with property owner. Would rent from again.
We both grew up in a town called Fremont, which is south of Port Clinton about 18 miles (near Ohio Turnpike). Even though Dennis graduated in 1970 and Susan graduated in 1971 from Fremont Ross High School, we did not know each other until many years later. Dennis went into the Army (549th Military Police) in Panama for two years. When discharged Dennis got a job in his hometown of Fremont, got married and worked for county water and wastewater for over 31 years, then retired and since then have worked in heavy construction, new house construction in electrical, got divorced (after 20 years) and moved to Show Low, Arizona to help run a bed & breakfast place for three years before moving back to Ohio and meeting Susan. Susan went to college in Bowling Green, Ohio, graduated and moved to Cleveland area, got a job teaching art in Cleveland high school area for over 30 years (got married and had 3 kids during that time, then divorced after 20 plus years). We both met through facebook (friends of friends) and Susan remembered Dennis because he went to state in Wrestling while in high school and saw that he was going to throw a party and was inviting friends so she decided to show up. We both hit it off immediately, dated for 2 years and then married in 2017. Since then the two of us have been involved in renovating houses, raising honey bees, are members in bike cycle club and canoeing.
We started renting out rooms in our home in Berea, Ohio in about 2017 to Airbnb people and has been a great experience so when Covid-19 hit we didn't want to sit around in the house all day so we decided to look around Port Clinton, Ohio to buy a house. Both of us spent a lot of time in that area when we were young and enjoyed the lake with our families. We found this place and bought it but had to put in about 8 months of working on almost complete renovation of it, driving back and forth each time until we had a bedroom finished, so we could stay and work on it. We have since put a scrapbook together showing what it looked like when bought, then while working on it and then what it looks like now. That book can be found in the living room if you care to look at it. We also have built or rehabbed other furnishings or made quilts that hang on walls at the cottage as well as some canoe memories. We want people to see the transformation and the huge difference it has made for all to enjoy.
We chose this house because it was so close to all the local activities during the summer and winter. It's close to downtown Port Clinton and jet express (about 1 mile away) that can take you to the Islands in Lake Erie, Cedar Point is only about 18 miles away in Sandusky, the Port Clinton city beach and park is only 1/5 of a mile away. East Harbor State Park and beach is only 7 1/2 miles away. Liberty Aviation Museum is only 3 miles away, African safari wildlife park is only 4 1/2 miles away and Lagoon Deer Park is only 9 1/2 miles away, Marblehead lighthouse (oldest one on the great lakes) is only 12 1/2 miles away. When it comes to eating out there is a lot of great eating places, from only 1/2 mile to 8 mile driving distance, that you can find in our cottage rules booklet that has a long list eating places and mileage to them. Fishermen are welcome because it is close by where boats can be put in and out of Lake Erie! But we ask that you do not clean or dispose of fish guts on our property or trash cans and we do not want you to park your boat trailer, car or truck on the driveway (blocks sidewalk and might leave oil stains) or patio surface. There is plenty of parking in front of house and the neighborhood is safe to be in. For those who don't know, there is a fish cleaning business downtown that is fast and not too expensive. The patio has a shade umbrella what can be erected when wanting to use for shade from the hot sun and has lights on it to use at night over the table. The storage box on patio next to house has life jackets and inflatables in it and a water board located between storage box and house. Please return to same area when finished using them.
