Located in the highly desired Cave Heights Subdivision sits this beautiful newly renovated 5 bedroom 3 bath lake front home. We have managed Rough River Lake rentals for over 3 years and are happy to over our newest listing Rough's Sunset Retreat. The home has 7 total beds in 5 bedrooms along with 3 full baths. Two of the bathrooms are shower tubs and the 3rd bath is a newly tiled shower. This home has adequate patio furniture and deck space to help your family relax and enjoy the scenery.
This is an awesome house and property. Very private, relaxing, and quite with plenty of space and beds. The deck and lake views are amazing! My friends and I loved it and had a fabulous time. The owners were great to work with, and wonderful hosts! Would for sure book this house again.
This place was perfect for a family weekend. We keep our boat at Nickâs Boat Dock, so the location was convenient. The view was wonderful. The glassed in porch and the large living area were perfect for us to gather in.We also enjoyed sitting out on the deck and around the fire pit.Definitely a place we would be interested in renting again.
Great place to stay. Very clean. Great view! Only issues were: 2 of the beds did not have clean sheets⊠but plenty of extra sheets so not a huge deal. A cute little mouse ate through our bread bag on the counter l..might want to eradicate⊠other than that it really was perfect I would stay here again! Owner/manager very nice and responsive to any questions!
Your home was beautiful, and we really loved your renovations! Some of the bedrooms, needed side table lamps, because the ceiling fan lights did not work in the master bedroom and one of the upstairs bedroom.
Overall, great stay! Great views of lake. But there were some issues with cleanliness (previous towels left in bathrooms). Kitchen was missing a few necessary utensils (cutting board, knives). Would stay again for price though!
We had a guys weekend away that included grilling out, playing games, and hanging out. There were a large group of us and the house fit our needs perfectly while giving us an atmosphere that we could relax in and enjoy the natural beauty of Rough River. Mitch was an excellent hose and super easy to work with. My whole group and I would highly recommend!
We had a very nice experience at the property. Very clean and specious. Host communication was excellent. It is definetly at a location that screams relaxation, that might be our only small issue. Normally we like mixing excitement with our stays, but that was nothing a drive wouldnât fix. Absolutely recommend this place.
Seriously -- do not hesitate one second longer. This was the most amazing house we've ever rented. How can you beat 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and the view of the lake? You can't. Kitchen was great, bedrooms were plentiful, location was private but still felt safe in a great neighborhood just minutes from Rough River State Park. Can't wait to book this one again!
Rough River is beautiful and boat rentals are affordable. Lovely place to reconnect with family from all over the country but with roots in Breckinridge County. The house is spacious. Mitch is very accessible and responsive. We had a wonderful time. Only thing to be aware of: Wifi was not functioning which meant some couldn't telework as needed. I think this was due to a storm, so hopefully fine for others in the future. Kitchen lovely and will be even better for entertaining with a few more pots, pans, big bowls and platters.
To us little things doesnât matter, but to some it might be worth mentioning. NO Mitch your driveway IS Not motorcycle friendly,
The place is surfaced clean, and very decorative, but all the washrags are stained with women makeup the utensil drawers had a lot of mouse droppings. The pots and pans could be replaced with some that are not all burnt up. Mitch was very easy to get a hold of for questions. The neighbor was very generous with his firewood. Like I said it was just little things.
The cabin was great, and the location very nice. The view of the lake, especially at dawn and dusk is especially beautiful. The cabin itself was very clean and well equipped. It did get very cold in the evenings and night, especially at the far end of the house, but we also had a week of rain and cold, which is really nobodyâs fault. We turned down the AC a bit and that helped. We made good use of the provided grill and the nice kitchen. The big porch with the wicker furniture was my favorite place, but unfortunately due to the weather, we couldnât make much use of it. I do think that in the ad for the property it could be made clearer that there is no access to the lake.
Our host Mitch was very communicative and answered all my questions promptly and detailed. He gave us more tips of what to do than what we had time for!
Thereâs not much in terms of going out to eat in the area, but we like to grill and cook, so we didnât have any problems. Daveâs pizza is not far, and their pizza is great, and the staff fantastic.
We wanted a place within an hour of Louisville, which we thought this was, but it was actually more like an hour and 20-30 mins. This was disappointing because it kept us from traveling to L'ville for activities with our college son and his friends (too long a drive for a long weekend) other than the Derby itself which we were there for, so no big deal. The house itself was just wonderful and the location was beautiful! House was clean and comfortable ,definitely remote, definitely quiet , farmland drives. Supermarket and beer runs a little farther away than we liked, 20 mins. Its all relative, if your used to that no problem! We hiked one of the park trails along the lake one day very fun. We wanted to rent a pontoon boat but in May you had to have them back by 2 pm which was a shame because an evening exploring the lake would have been pleasant. Over all a beautiful and comfortable setting with a very clean environment. Can't say enough about our host Mitch he was available as needed. pleasant and peaceful place! I would recommend this listing to those just wanting to get away from it all!
Girls weekend trip, perfect for larger groups. Great communication and response from homeowner, including coming out to the property when there was an issue with sun porch lighting during our stay. Safe, quiet neighborhood to walk - about 3.5 miles if you go all the way around and back to house. I would stay here again but provide the following for others. Wifi was spotty at best. If you planned to be on the internet doing work, etc forget it. Cell service was also spotty. Fire pit area is down a slightly steep yard, not super safe when it's been raining (as it was for us) or if you have any knee/back problems. The housekeeping left a little to be desired (had to clean out a shower, clean off the large table, oven had crusted pizza in bottom, leftover condiments, etc in fridge and freezer). All of this was not a deal breaker for us, but just noting to complete the review (good and bad). The price for what you get was excellent and there are a few places to eat (and buy booze) very close so the location is convenient but feels really rustic.
We have been renting lake rentals for almost 4 years on the lake. We were so excited to see this property hit the market and can't wait to help your family make memories on Rough River.
Location, Location, Location!! Cave Heights has always been my favorite subdivision on the lake. The turnover is low and we were very lucky to catch this gem the day it came on the market.
