Private Newly Built Woman Lake Cabin with Detached Barn Style Bunk House
Mark Twain once wrote that somethings are so difficult to explain, they must be experienced! Privacy and quiet rarely found on a major, pristine lake. Three sides of the property are either protected by a National Forest or the vast expansive lake shore of Women Lake. The other side is a buffer woods to the only other cabin close. Hear the quiet? My brother and I spent two years lovingly remodeling this generational property, adding modern conveniences while still preserving. Beamed screened porch and entry ceilings, expansive deck, two story great room with skip sawn pine with beam ceiling, reading loft with beautiful lake views, two story stone gas fireplace, and converted the curved Amish built barn into an upper deck bunkhouse with full bath including walk in shower. There are three rooms in the main cabin (2 queens and 1 king) with a queen pull out couch. The bunk room has three twin over queen bunks, smart TVâs, wifi. The pictures tell the rest... would sleep 17. We plan to share our treasure a few times each year. Read the reviews as they come as we so welcome them from those who appreciate this beauty!
We loved the house! I do wish there were a weed-free place for swimming but no beach was disclosed prior to booking. There was a water issue, flooding one bedroom and the lower level entryway which was temporarily taken care of while we were there. The negatives were that the house was not clean, there was a moldy wall in one bedroom that did not happen overnight. Some of the small appliances were actually moldy too.The floors needed to be swept and there were only 6 towels for 10 of us. We paid a high cleaning fee and had to clean when we got there.
The space was perfect for our multi-generational family. We had several college-age kids and teens in the bunkhouse which was a great private space for them to stay up late and sleep in away from parents and grandparents in the main house. We loved the serenity and beauty of the bay but the ability to quickly get to the big part of Woman Lake too. The dock is small and was a bit challenging for 2 boats but we made it work. We were surprised to find only silverware for about 8 when the house can sleep so many more than that. We made due with plastic ware. Overall, we can boast so many more positives than negatives about this space and are already considering another stay!
This cabin is in a great location off of Woman Lake. We loved the short drive to downtown Longville for any errands and the turtle races. Cabin was very clean, updated, with a beautiful view. We look forward to our stay next year!
Overall the house and bunkhouse was great! The six oldest grandchildren enjoyed the privacy of the bunkhouse. Air conditioning was a bonus. Could use more dock space.
12 of our family of 13 joined us for a week at this beautiful property. One adult son was traveling on business so could not make it but hoping to join us next summer since we already reserved for 2026! We have been taking our family for a week âUp Northâ for 14 years. This was our first week at this property and all agree this is our favorite for this stage of our lives. Ages range for 3-70. Great fishing for younger kids right from dock and walleye, northern, bass, crappies in our bay and around the chain of lakes. Kayaking was amazing and kids had a blast on the swimming raft. The lakehome was exactly as described. Gave our families their own space plus plenty room for all as a group togetherâŠmeals, games, campfire, deck, screened porch, outdoor running space. We have our own boat but pontoon was on site, available to rent. Longville is a quick 4 mile drive by car or about 10 minutes by boat. â Woodpileâ is a fun place to eat in Longville. Lake views from every room! Dan promptly answered any questions we had. We look forward to our next visit! Wonderful Northern Minnesota experience!
Third summer we have stayed here for a week. Love the place. The bunkhouse fits our 6 teenage boys to a T! Plenty to do with the lake right there. We hope to come back again some day! There are 12 of us and there is plenty of room for eating, watching a movie or playing games.đ
Our family of 6 (my husband, 2 kids and me, plus my dad and sister) thoroughly enjoyed our time at the cabin. Despite cool weather, we loved the fishing, spending time in the screened in porch, hanging out in the loft (the kids!), games at the big table, cooking delicious food, and boating and paddle-boarding on the lake (we rented a pontoon, which was also great!). Can't wait to head back next summer!
Our family loved this property. We really enjoyed the screened porch. We appreciated the swimming raft, Paddle board & kayaks & that they sprayed for mosquitoes. Nice job of landscaping around the house & plenty of parking.
WE REALLY ENJOYED OUR STAY AT THE CABIN AND BUNK HOUSE. VERY NICE HOUSE AND LOVED THE SECLUSION. THE LAKE WAS BEAUTIFUL HAD LOTS OF FUN SWIMMING. SCREENED IN PORCH WAS GREAT. HAD A GREAT TIME. THANK YOU
The property was great, the house was as advertised, the grandchildren loved staying in the bunkhouse. The yard was good sized, fire pit area was great for evening fires and smores, there was plenty of space for parking the vehicles and boat trailers. Woman Lake is a beautiful lake with plenty of loons and eagles to watch, great for swimming and tubing, and the fishing wasn't bad either. I would recomend this property.
We stayed with a multigenerational group and it was a wonderful set up for our needs. The screen porch was the most used room in the house! We also appreciated being able to use the AC as needed on very hot days. The swim raft was great for our older kids, but there wasn't a great place for the 3 year old to swim. The 2 fridges were very appreciated as well. It was a wonderful stay and we would highly recommend this property!
This is the second time we have stayed at this property, and it was even better than the first time. The location on the lake is wonderful (don't have to go into the big water to enjoy the lake or get into town), and it has everything you need for a fun, relaxing vacation. Next best thing to owning a lake home!
This property was everything we could ask for- space for everyone. The water toys were appreciated. The kitchen area was very nice. Boat dock was so nice- the littles fished there and caught some. The bedroom spaces were awesome.
The cabin and bunkhouse were both beautiful. We attended our daughterâs wedding across the lake so didnât spend very much time at the cabin. We did enjoy the screen porch in the evenings. Gorgeous view of the lake!
The house and property were great. Our favorite room in the entire house was the screened in porch. Rain or sun it was the perfect place to spend time. We knew that fishing was challenging on the lake so much of the time we fished other smaller lakes in the area and did well. We will book again.
We had a great time during our stay in Longville with minimal issues.
Pros: The cabin was beautiful and certainly met our needs. The property was lovely. Someone else mentioned that the incline from the lake was steeper than they thought it would be. I thought that the incline was pretty minimal and most people would do just fine with it. If you have elderly family members staying, it could be a bit difficult for them, but would likey be able to still make the trek down with a pit stop or two. I appreciated being able to see the dock and swimming area from the cabin so the adults could keep an eye on the kids while they fished, swam, and kayaked. The kids caught many sunfish off the dock. Plenty of room for everyone between the house and bunkhouse. The turtle races were fun for all! We had great weather and enjoyed many hours out on the screened in porch. The king mattress and pillows were very comfortable.
Cons: The bathroom rugs were wet and sandy when we arrived. They should have been washed and dried between guests. There was not enough paper towels or toilet paper. When I asked the owner he said they could not supply an "unlimited amount" of these. There were 11 of us staying here and we were left with only 2 rolls of paper towels for a week and 2 rolls of toilet paper in each bathroom. We had to run to town for more of these items. We were also left with only 3 hand towels for a week. A family member of the owners', graciously dropped off more hand towels for us midway through our stay. The full mattresses were not comfortable. While the kids caught plenty of sunfish off the dock, we had a hard time finding the fish on the lake despite going out at all times of the day and using various bait.
Overall we had a nice time with only a few minor issues with which the owner was responsive.
Thank you for sharing your lake home!
The cabin was beautiful and suited our family of 11 well. There were enough beds for everyone. It is in a beautiful setting. The lawn down to the lake is steeper than in the photographs. The screened in porch was a favorite place for us to hang out. The fire pit was nice and easy to use. There were plenty of chairs for our family to use on the property. During our stay there was a storm that caused the electricity to go out for 2 days. We contacted the host and let him know there had been a storm. We informed him that the electricity went out and that there were tree limbs and branches down. They let the electric company know. We asked about a generator and it was stated that they might be able to get one from a family member. We never heard anything again regarding a generator. We had to find our own generator so that we wouldn't lose 2 refrigerators full of food. Because the electricity went out, we also had to haul water up from the lake in order to use toilets. There were no pails to use. We fully understand that weather and unforeseen conditions cannot be controlled by anyone, but unfortunately our stay was impacted by everything that we had to handle ourselves with little help from the host.
