We had an absolutely wonderful weekend at the cabin and enjoyed hiking the property. Luke's hill is a butt buster! We loved the fact that we could bring our dog and that there was no cell service or internet. Just family time and quietness.
Met friends from IL which was perfect halfway point from Twin Cities. We spent the our days hiking the many trails on the property and enjoying the beautiful views of the hills and valleys. Evenings on the deck watching the sunset and grilling. Beautiful location!
lovely location and facility. Lack of wi-fi and phone made communication with relatives somewhat complicated for our family reunion.
Narrow spiral staircase was challenging for us 2 couples over 60.
This place was very clean. And was well appointed. They had everything we needed, and we were 15 min from everything we wanted to do. There are some beautiful trout waters in that area! Thanks !
Perfect get away and place to relax and unwind. Loved hiking and sitting on the deck listening to the birds and staring up at the hills. Just what we needed.
My husband, my mom, my dog and I had a great a great weekend staying here. The property is beautiful. It was wonderful to have that many different trails around the property. The cabin is comfortable and is well equipped. The host James provided us with clear instructions about the checking. Thank you!
The Upper Place Cottage was a wonderful weekend escape. Our pups loved running the trails, and the leaves were at their peak for the season! The house was clean and had everything we needed for a long weekend. The staircase is a bit harrowing, but you get used to it. We would love to come back - especially in the winter to snowshoe or ski the trails.
This place was a needed step back from everyday life. Me, my husband and our two dogs had a wonderful and relaxing time, between looking out the big widows to hiking the many trails, it was perfect. There is nothing like throwing on VCRs & sipping coffee with fresh air surrounded by nature. Book it, you won't regret it.
Very scenic, cute cottage. Be aware, no cell service. Had no hot water for our stay. Staircase may not be suitable for older adults. Extremely well equipped. Worth the stay even with the negatives.
Really beautiful property!
There's no reception. Couldn't get reception in town to tell our family we were there. Everything closes at 8pm.
Was really excited to check out the trails but it rained all weekend and then we lost power for 4 hours while we were cooking my birthday dinner. In the morning our kid was sick and we had a 4 hour drive home, since we had no reception to reach the owner, check out was at 12pm and owner knocked around 1:15 pm telling us we had to leave without asking if everything was alright. I was tending to my sick child so I couldn't talk to him, as I was in the other room. Around 1130am prior to that, there was honking and a man and woman telling me to move my car (nothing was stated I couldn't park there) I apologized and they said nothing and had a mean look on their face.
Definitely a nice place to escape. Wish there was a way to contact owner with a walkie talkie or something for emergencies.
Cottage was as described.
Says Scott Wisconsin on the booking but its gays mills Wisconsin (1.5 hour more of a drive)
Would stay there again if there was a small back up generator. Especially having children with us and we had food in the fridge.
We loved that there was no internet or phone service. The owners have put a lot of TLC into the home and itâs shows. A few things to plan for - the water pressure in the shower isnât great but there is plenty of hot water. No washer/dryer. We didnât feel we needed those things.
We had a wonderful time. My wife and I were looking for some peaceful R&R and this was more than we could have hoped. We hiked every day, spent lots of time on the deck, sat by the fire pit, and generally enjoyed all of the beauty of this location. And the "wall of windows" makes you feel like you are outdoors even when you are inside the cozy and very unique cabin. We only left the property a couple of times over the entire 10 days because everything we needed and were looking for was right here.
Our family had a wonderful week of relaxing in the beautiful cabin and hiking the wooded trails. We saw lots of wildlife, played many games of dominoes and cards, and enjoyed the large lawn. Not having cell phone service for a week was a great way to recharge and enjoy the scenery. I would recommend everyone to come stay and recharge.
Had an amazing 5 day get-away with my husband, son and dog. We took daily walk on the trails. I would recommend bringing high boots for the walks. So relaxing and isolated.
Had a great time there in VERY rural Driftless cabin. My wife and boys loved trout fishing across the road (just ask neighbor for permission to fish his land). Great place to rest, relax, read, hike... I really enjoyed meeting the owner too!
