Enjoy amazing lake views from almost every room in this eclectic mid century bungalow. Savor every meal on the extensive deck overlooking the lake and watch spectacular sunrises from the colorful living room while sipping your morning coffee. Retreat to the den with your favorite beverage from the bar to watch a movie or play a game. The half acre property backs up to protected land with direct lake access. Bring your boat and AWD vehicle to drive down to the lake or use public boat ramp one street over.
The view from the balcony is breathtaking. The house has many movies and games to entertain and the lake is about 100-150 yard walk from the property. The owner was very responsive to my questions. There doesnât seem to be much to do in the town, but Truth or Consequences isnât a far drive away. The property is difficult to find with GPS.
Stayed here for work. The view from the deck is awesome. The houe is set up weirdly. It was clean and comfortable. The view was awesome and a shotrt walk to the lake. The parking was less then desired due to soft sand by the front door.
It was a beautiful bungalow with fantastic views from the deck . There was plenty of room , large open floorplsn . I was impressed with every area clean and neat ... i look forward to booking this place again . The perfect getaway location ..
My family really enjoyed our stay at this and the house is as beautiful as the pictures. I would stay again with my family had so many more new memories.
Michele's place has a lot of character and is very cozy. This was our first time visiting Elephant Butte Lake. We were surprised with how quiet it is there. Our 3 year old had a blast collecting rocks & shells by the lake. Michele was a great host. She was very kind, and promptly answered all of our questions.
My family really enjoyed our stay here. The house has lots of character : mid-century furniture, board games, comfortable couches and a large outdoor patio. We spent our time hiking from the property directly to the lake and swimming with our kiddos. Michele was extremely responsive and helpful during our stay.
Property was a little difficult to find with GPS but thanks to Michele's directions we found it fairly easy. Great view of the lake with direct walking access to the lake. Check in process was easy and contactless. House is older but fairly recently remodeled. Easily fit our family of 5 with our pets. Loved being so close to the lake, and again the views spectacular. Biggest issue we had was ants in the kitchen, but that was addressed by Michele quickly. Driveway is steep and unpaved but could get in and out with our minivan with little issue. Overall a good place to stay at a great location. Michele was a great host and would definitely come back again.
We stayed her for four weeks in January 2023 and would definitely stay again. The property is one of several âcottagesâ in the Rock Canyon enclave which is surrounded by Elephant Butte Lake State Park and has a variety of well kept properties from new adobe structures to smaller trailers. When we were there, it was very quiet, though seasonal activity was just starting to pick up when we left. Access to the property is from Hare Drive, and the driveway is literally on the corner Hare and Rock Canyon Road. There is a street sign for Hare Drive, but still a bit tricky to spot the first time. The host suggests parking a bit up the drive from the house unless the vehicle has awd because some of the sand is quite soft. We did not have awd, followed the hosts advice, and were fine. As someone else noted, there is a neighbor with dogs and the dogs frequently do get out of the neighbors enclosed yard. Fortunately they are very friendly if a bit rambunctious. We had our two dogs with us, so there was some occasional barking at first, but no confrontations etc. The host is well aware of the dog issue, and is actively trying to find a solution. Inside the space was very clean and larger than we anticipated. All appliances etc. worked well, including the wall mounted ac/heat units. Wi-Fi is via a cellular hot spot and worked very well for us, though we did exceed the data cap at one point, likely because we were streaming video. Fortunately the host added more capacity for us, and there are dozens of dvdâs to choose from rather than streaming movies. We canât speak to summer activity at the lake, but for our purposes (bird/wildlife photography in the area) it was a great location. If you visit, bring some bird seed to put out; we can guaranty you will see some nice birds, including several Gambelâs Quail.
We needed to get away for a few days and found this little gem. The house was very organized, exceptionally clean & excellent view of the lake. Make certain to bring binoculars!
We loved the mid century furnishings and the art on the wall was eclectic!
The property has a great view of the lake. The directions to get there were not as clear as they could be, and it was difficult to find. You really do need 4 wheel drive to park by the house, as the sand is very soft. We were met by a neighbor dog who escaped through the fence. This startled us quite a bit as it hung around the car while we unpacked, and there were dog feces around the house when we arrived. The house is well decorated, but lacks warmth and coziness. The bed was comfortable. There are a lot of windows that let in beautiful morning light. The sun rises from behind the lake, but there are no window coverings for privacy on any of the windows in the house. The kitchen is not well-appointed. The silverware looks like a doll house, tea party set they are so small and all of it was dirty. There was not a sponge in the house for dishes and we had to buy our own to clean up. The pots and pans were really old, worn, and dirty. There are several boards on the patio that have a hole in them, and they put a brick over them, but it definitely could be a safety concern. Lastly, the host charges a steep cleaning fee, and yet has a list of things they expect the guest to do before leaving, including hauling trash up a hill to the trash can. We left the house in great condition, but the host should reconsider asking guests to clean if they charge over $150 cleaning fee.
