Lovely home, beautifully appointed, lovely patio and views. We were there with some rain but this was thee perfect retreat location. Will return again.
Great views, beautifully furnished home, new immaculate kitchen and bathrooms, lovely gardens. Margaret has everything organized and is always available. A terrific place to stay.
We loved our month here. Delightful, well maintained 2 bedroom home in the Lower Riviera adjacent to the MIssion. Quiet and private. Great neighborhood for walking. Can't wait to return.
This is a beautiful home that has been tastefully and artfully furnished. It is ideal for a couple, and the guest room is adequate for two guests. There is a lower grass terrace that is ideal for an evening drink with a good view of Santa Barbara and the waterfront, a middle terrace off the living room that works well for lunch and dinner for 4 or fewer, and an upper terrace that seats 6-10 for meals. The kitchen is well appointed with a good supply of beautiful dinnerware. The owner was very accommodating. We suggest two areas of caution: First, the first floor guest bath has a free standing tub and shower curtain ring that can be annoying for guests who prefer showers to baths (although the upstairs master bath is beautiful and can be made available to guests, as we did. Second, the home is at the top of a steep hill and accessed by 30+ steps. We are septuagenarians and hosted three other septuagenarians as guests for short periods and had no issues accessing the house or navigating the neighborhood on long walks. If these arenât an issue, as they were not for us, then this is an ideal property for an extended stay in the lower American Riviera near the mission .
I cannot say enough wonderful things about this property. The grounds, the view, the cozy interior all contributed to a spectacular 2-week stay with family. The neighborhood is quiet and we enjoyed exploring during sunset walks. It was perfect for two couples with ample space to remotely work a portion of the week. We took every opportunity to enjoy the fireplace during cool evenings and patio during the day. The home is a short walk to the mission, 15-min walk to the courthouse and a 10-min drive to the water. The owner provided excellent communication before arrival and during the stay. We hope to return soon!
Margaret and her home were beyond expectations. Beautiful view and a home with a lot of character. Margaret was great and so helpful and accommodating. Would love to stay there again.
We had the perfect month in Santa Barbara and this home really added to our experience. The patio is beautiful and a great place for morning coffee and evening gatherings. Margaret is so helpful and responsive. We canât wait to return.
A Magical Manifestation of Santa Barbara Grace and Charm
What a spectacular home! Perched on the Riviera, the views are amazing and the location is ideal. The abundant outdoor space flows seamlessly with the well appointed interior rooms. The charm of the decor matched with the high quality amenities gives the impression of a luxurious European boutique hotel. Margaret was a dream to work with, striking that delicate balance between offering autonomy and providing support. We feel like we have discovered our home away from home in Santa Barbara!
This property, it's location as well as any/all communications needed with the owner were just amazing. We were blown away. This is a HOME not a grungy VRBO rental. It is in a VERY quiet neighborhood so not the spot to stay for loud activity. My Family includes a 3.5 year old and an infant-- families like ours should be mindful that the house also has many beautiful but fragile items throughout (art, china etc) so be aware as my wife and I were about what is "off limits" to the kids. We hope to stay here again and can't express how stunning the property is.
This home is beautiful. The location is very central, perfect for walks to the mission or just around the neighborhood. The outdoor areas are expansive and serene. The home was thoughtfully stocked with most essentials, not to mention very clean. Iâd definitely recommend staying here. We really enjoyed our stay!
Quintessentially Santa Barbara. My husband and I loved the location, and I did walks in a loop up to and around the Mission, and Natural History Museum daily. We walked into town and up to the Riviera Theatre. The house is simply lovely. Each morning we enjoyed one of the outdoor patios for breakfast and lovely evenings overlooking Santa Barbara, and it was a wonderful place to host a dinner with friend. The house is beautifully appointed and fully and thoughtfully supplied with whatever we needed and beyond. Margaret, the owner was prompt and helpful and very caring. We simply loved our stay and hope to come back.
Beautifully appointed home full of charm and coziness! Gorgeous Views to the ocean. I have never felt so much at home in a rental property, perfect base for exploring Santa Barbara and the surrounding areas. The host was very helpfull and generous with information about the house which made our stay very easy! Would definitely recommend this property!
Beautiful home, gorgeous neighborhood, and wonderful owners!
I cannot say enough about this home and its gracious owners! The house is quintessential Santa Barbara - from the architecture to the furnishings. The home is very spacious and clean, with a fantastic layout for families. The side and back patios are beautiful, and with breathtaking views. And even more so, Margarat is so responsive and hospitable. She was very communicative, and went above and beyond to ensure a great experience. She even suggested local day trip options when the weather was inclement. We cannot wait to come back, and hope to make this rental home a tradition!
We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful house. Truly a home away from home:), everything was perfect ... the bedding, the linens, the kitchen, the living room, the lovely dining room and last but not least the beautiful outdoor seating area. Communication with Margaret could not have been better and we hope to be able to return. I highly recommend this beautiful house to anyone as long as you have no problems using stairs to get from the street to the house. It would be a shame that this great property gets negative reviews because of the steps.
This house is impeccably maintained by Margaret and her husband. It is the quintessential Santa Barbara Riveria house built in the 20's but updated for today's amenities. My wife and I stayed with our 18 month old daughter and it was absolutely lovely. We highly recommend.
We loved staying here! The home has everything you need and the landscaping is incredible. Margaret and Richard were so easy to communicate with. We will be back!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful house on top of a hill in a peaceful area of Santa Barbara. The house has so much character and is very comfy, it quickly felt like home. We enjoyed cooking in the well equipped kitchen, and lounging in the patio, with the relaxing sounds of the fountain and the wonderful smells from the garden.
It was very easy to communicate with Margaret, who made sure everything was OK throughout our stay.
You can readily believe the prior reviews of this property. It is a wonderful place to stay. We fully enjoyed our time here and the outside living spaces are an absolute joy and come with extraordinary views. We believe the House was designed by Edwards & Plunkett who are famous 1920âs architects in Santa Barbara. Among a large number of buildings & residences they designed the famous Arlington theater on State Street downtown, which can be seen from the wonderful deck off of the master bedroom on the second floor.
The owner was very accommodating and was always responsive to our questions and needs. We stayed in SB over a dozen times and this property has been the best.
Having read the other reviews, they have summed this house up perfectly! The photographs really don't do it justice. It is extremely comfortable with wonderful outdoor seating areas. The kitchen is well appointed, the beds are comfortable, the neighbourhood is quiet and we loved the architecture and stylish furnishings. Margaret was excellent to work with. We were very disappointed not to be ale to stay longer. Highly recommended for beautiful Santa Barbara.
I love this house and I wish it was mine! After a long flight from the UK to find this waiting for us was fantastic. It only has two bedrooms but is actually very spacious, the master bedroom upstairs is enormous with a very generous sitting area. It is very well furnished, lovely comfortable sofas, big dining table, beautiful bits of artwork around the house. The owners obviously love and cherish this house and you can tell, it is not your average holiday let. We have travelled a lot, often renting holiday homes which we much prefer to a hotel room for long stays and this house has to be one of our favourites. Everything was beautifully clean and welcoming. Margaret, the owner, was a joy to to correspond with, all during the booking process she replied immediately and made everything so easy. She made sure we could get into the house immediately on our arrival, no having to pick up a key from a managing agent In another city, which has happened with us before! I felt that I would have been able to call her at any time with any query and she would have responded immediately. The house is located in a very quiet and peaceful residential area, tucked away but very easy to find (Margaret gave excellent directions). We walked into town a number of times, about a 20 minute walk. Some of the highlights for me were having breakfast looking out over Santa Barbara with the sea glinting in the distance, sometimes looking down onto the 'marine layer', which to us Brits is fog, feeling smug because we would be sitting in beautiful sunshine, and relaxing on the terrace, on a comfortable sun lounger with the fountain tinkling and just soaking up the beautiful atmosphere. I would highly recommend this home and we would certainly return. Thanks Margaret for an absolutely perfect stay.
