Nice home

Great house

This house was perfect for our family: my husband and me with 3 grown children and a fiancé. The layout was conducive for cooking, visiting, and working 3 puzzles during our stay. Beds and living room furniture were very comfortable.

Lovely Island Home

Roomy and clean space. Photos accurately show the home interior. The bunk bed mattresses were a bit uncomfortable the other beds were fine. Walk to beach not too far even with kids. Neighborhood very safe. Easy check in and out. It would have been nice to have a “What to bring” list ahead of time. There is limited shopping on the island. Example: if you are going to cook bring foil and plastic wrap, spices, extra paper towels. (1 roll provided). Dishwasher pods (3 provided) etc. our family had a wonderful visit and would definitely stay here again.

Excellent stay during a busy PCS

We came and stayed two weeks between duty stations. We love Dauphin Island and this house was great. Plenty of space and amenities. Loved the grill downstairs and the large kitchen. Beach access was easy and the pool was a great bonus. Only drawback was the internet. Was sometimes inconsistent. However, this is a common issue on Dauphin Island. And we were there for the beach anyway Great stay! Would stay again!

Turtle Cove July 2024

One of the best family vacations we’ve had. Comfortable house. Dauphin Island is small with limited restaurant options so eating at the rental can save a lot of time. Turtle Cove is reasonably close (walking distance) to the boardwalk to get to the beach but too far to tote a lot of beach toys without a wagon. The house was very nice and comfortable for 4 adults and a few kids, but I would not recommend it for someone with mobility limitations due to the stairs. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. Not a beach view property but still very close to the water. Plenty of parking below the house.

Beautiful beach house in quiet neighborhood

The beach house was lovely - clean and very comfortable. The location was excellent. It was in a quiet neighborhood with a short walk to the beach. It was also a short drive to the ferry and the bird sanctuary. We had a wonderful visit and would like to return at another time.

Us and our dogs

It was a good stay, we arrived to the island early, hoping for an early checkin, ended up not getting in until 415 due to cleaning staff. The house was in good order, the area to the dog pen/run was great! The side deck has a couple spots where a small animal/child could get stuck or fall thru if not warned/monitored. The back (north) closed in porch with AC was beautiful. Bed was comfortable. The shower unit in the master bath was standard, but could be enlarged/improved. Could honestly use a few “beach extras” to minimize renters packing… We have stayed in this gated community previously, we love the area & the island!

Loved every moment

We had a great time and this home was perfect. It was a short enjoyable walk to the private beach. There were games available in the unit for evening fun. The kitchen was stocked and every aspect was smooth. We also loved the covered parking on site. I highly recommend this rental.

Beautiful & Quiet

We very much enjoyed our stay at Turtle Cove. Our goal was rest and relaxation which was exactly what we found. The home is lovely but we found it a bit lacking in a few things we generally find in a beach front home. First there was not a hair dryer. We had to go purchase a hair dryer, having never stayed anywhere where one wasn't provided. We were also disappointed that there was nothing in the home except for a couple of beach towels for use on the beach. We made due with what we brought, but would have loved to have a couple of chairs and maybe an umbrella. So if the beach is your thing just remember to bring anything you'll need for a relaxing time listening to the waves. The closed in porch on the back of the home was lovely as well as the front porch facing the ocean.

Practically Perfect in Every Way!

We really loved the house! Had everything we needed as far as what we expected to be provided (except a hair dryer, but I brought my own because I had read previous reviews). The ONLY thing that bothered us at all in the house was that the AC couldn’t seem to keep the living room and kitchen area as cool as the rest of the house, it felt about 10+ degrees warmer in that area, although bedrooms and baths were just right! The thermostat would say that it was 75 degrees even when it had been set to 68 all day, and we kept all the curtains closed in that room all day to try to keep some sunlight and heat out, but I’m not sure if that room will just always be hotter because there’s not as much insulation in the ceiling or what, but it did get pretty uncomfortable by the afternoon/evening. And since some previous renters must have accidentally broken the tower fan that was in living room, we could turn it on but we couldn’t move it closer to where we were sitting or it would fall over. If we had realized how hot it was going to get in there we would have requested another fan to be brought over when we first got there, but it wasn’t as noticeable then and the local team did offer to come into the house, but we just didn’t realize how much we would need the fan. I would just recommend getting at least one more fan in there, a taller one that rotates would be really helpful. We did have the ceiling fan on as well. Maybe some blackout material with curtains would also help keep the heat out. But that would not keep me from staying there again if I knew that would be addressed! Really everything else was great and extremely clean and comfortable! Would be nice if there were some extra beach chairs that you could carry to beach if you can’t bring your own, but I know those are not always provided everywhere. But it’s a great location and pool was very well maintained as well, such a nice, beautiful, quiet neighborhood. We stayed a few streets over years ago and were pleased that the neighborhood was still as nice as we remembered. An easy walk to beach (although not right out the front door if that’s what you are looking for), and great for riding bikes. At first it was confusing about the trash pickup because there is more than one company who picks up, and when we got there the previous renters had left our trash can completely full but it was not picked up that day, probably because they thought it was on the same schedule as the next door neighbors’, which it is not! So at first we thought the trash that wasn’t ours would be picked up soon, but it wasn’t for several days so that was frustrating because there was no room in the outside can for our trash that needed to be taken out. But the app turned out to be correct in the instructions for the pickup days. If we had understood, we would have asked for help with getting that trash removed since previous renters didn’t get it out on time and that wasn’t our fault. But it worked out!!

We had a great time

Super nice community and uncrowded beach

We absolutely loved our stay here from the moment of checking in to the moment of checking out everything was made very easy and efficient! This house is absolutely beautiful and the beaches are so peaceful and uncrowded! The only thing that could have made it more perfect would it had been oceanfront. It was a little bit of a stroll with 4 kids and all the beach items but we made do! We will definitely be back!

Great week stay

Tips: get groceries and other medical supplies at Greer’s before hitting the island. There are not many restaurants on the island, so be prepared for a wait if you’re wanting to eat out. House was in a great location. I enjoyed hearing the frogs at night.

Nice getaway

The house is beautiful and well kept. It is a close bike ride/walk to pool and beach. I never got a response to questions from management while on vacation, nor could I ever get them on the phone.

Island House getaway

Overall we enjoyed our stay in this house. It was cute and spacious. The bed was fairly comfortable. The back sunroom is a nice feature. There were plenty of cooking items and dishes. No hair dryer. We liked the ceramic tile in some of the house. Good location on the island. Probably would not choose to stay here again for several reasons. The gated community is well maintained however our street ran open in the back to an apartment complex with access into the development by walking across the grass so not a gated community really. One evening several teens came across the neighboring house backyard and were messing around with the house. We heard them talking about the possibility of security cameras so they continued into the development and went on down to the private beach within our community. Upon their return they messed around behind our house in the dunes before going back to the apartments. Maintenance at this house was disappointing. Several ceiling lights were burned out including one in the kitchen ceiling fan. One sink stopper in the master was broken and a tub stopper was pulled out and laying in the tub. The rugs in the master bath were a matted mess with long strings everywhere on the floor and tracked in the bed. All of the windows that we tried to open stuck except 2. Bedrooms had gross stains on the carpet which were numerous and had obviously been there for sometime. I called to let management know we were reporting them upon arrival. Air conditioner did not work well. This house was an expensive rental and we felt like it should have been better maintained. The Roku was awful. Poor reception with lots of buffering.

Wow. Everything and more!

I can’t even begin to say enough great things about Vacasa. We will never rent through any other company again. They are quick to respond, professional, friendly, and make you feel like family. We had an AMAZING time at dauphin island. I’ve been renting condos/houses on the beach for years and have never stayed at a house so well equipped. They have everything you could possibly need and more. Vacasa made our trip so much fun, worry free, and easy as pie. The self check in was flawless. The pool and beach access are steps away. The house was HUGE and had so many great common areas. We will definitely stay at this house again and like I said, never rent from another company again. Our family of 5 had more than enough room and our three young boys were never bored. There were so many board games, card games, TV apps, etc. it was never crowded at the pool and most days we had the entire beach to ourselves. The gated community made us feel safe and everyone we did run into was friendly and welcoming. Wonderful stay! The house was very clean although I will say, I have extremely high standards when it comes to cleanliness and I do wish the bathrooms had been just a bit better. There were small black hairs throughout the entire place (I assume from a dog that had stayed the week before) but after a quick vacuum (provided by the house in a closet), we were good to go. Since we too brought our dog, I really didn’t mind. We appreciate being able to include our pooch on the family vaca and we understand how hard it is to get every single hair 😂. It was a wonderful week and we can’t wait to come back!

Nice stay

This home is a nice place to stay. We loved the back room (sunroom). The master bed is comfortable. Plenty of towels and linens. Everything you will need. We wish we would have had access to a larger pool, however our original home had sold and this rental was our next option. Our kids didn't complain about the beds so they must have been comfortable as well. Its a good place if you want to relax. The management was very responsive as well.

Great experience!

This was a great place for a nice get away. The private beach and friendly neighbors really just made it perfect. This is definitely the place to be if you're looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of summer vacationers.

Fun on Dauphin Island

Lots of great outdoor spaces, porch, balcony, pool, beach etc. The house was very clean. Kitchen was well stocked. Great access to the grill. Mattress were very comfortable. Owners were very quick to respond to issues.
