Wendy was a great host. This is a converted schoolhouse! Unique and impressive with high ceilings, nicely renovated rooms and lots of antiques and history! We would definitely stay there again.
This was an absolute EXPERIENCE from start to finish! If you are a history/antique enthusiast you will be mesmerized by what the Storybook School has to offer. Wendy, the owner, was gracious and accomodating, with a knack for knowing how to make your stay something magical! I canât wait to return!
Above and beyond! Can't say enough about this magical weekend!
Pictures don't do it justice. This is a hidden treasure. Every inch is beautiful, and so interesting. Wendy has curated it all with such love and we are the lucky ones who get to experience it! It was a privilege to stay here. Clean, quiet and absolutely wonderful. Take time to notice all the little Easter Eggs, treasures everywhere. Very quiet neighborhood and close the the charming Verde Valley Railroad depot. TV with free Netflix was a nice bonus!
Instantly we loved our new home! Wendy is so charming! She has artistically designed and decorated this old school! I couldn't stop smiling! It was very comfortable and we loved the quiet location! Highly recommend!!!
This schoolhouse apartment is our first time staying at this charming and welcoming place. It was a relaxing, very comfortable, and quiet place with plenty of privacy. We loved the room we stayed in, a comfortable bed, and plenty to do and readâa great getaway from city life. We loved using the bathtub with a warm faux fireplaceâplenty of kitchen supplies, tasty teas, and pretty tea cups and saucers. Our hostess was friendly and even gave us a tour of the place. We can tell how much they care about their place.
We are very much looking forward to coming back soon.
Beautiful grounds and gardens, interesting, fun and unusual artifacts, beautiful furnishings and artwork, nice amenities and appliances all made for a wonderful stay for the folks at the historic yellow schoolhouse. We live nearby, and rented a suite at the school for our parents who were visiting Clarkdale. Very spacious, well appointed. Tall ceilings, big bathroom. Their suite was comprised of 2 former class rooms and an adjacent bathroom with tub. Full kitchen and big dining room meant we enjoyed a grand meal together every night. Daddio also grilled out back where there is a gas grill and picnic table. Really a fun and fascinating place. The owner is lovely and kind, artistic and cool.
Unique, fine furnishings, great deal, tons of space to spread out. 30 min max dive to all the best hikes and to Sedona. Super comfortable bed and towels were luxurious. I personally would have preferred a shower option but the claw foot tub worked just fine
Room 3 was so amazing and there was so much attention to detail throughout the property. Great for a romantic getaway with its clawfoot tub and drapery everywhere. Wendy has really done an amazing job restoring this schoolhouse into a beautiful home.
Storybook School house a story of elegance and luxury wrapped in history....
This property was lovely! The historical character of the Spanish style school house is maintained from the outside to the interior. Our space, #3 was very spacious and elegantly appointed. I felt like I stepped into the luxury of a historic villa combined with fun and eclectic details from the past that remind you of the properties origins. The owner has created an amazing holiday experience for travellers.
I would stay at the story book schoolhouse again in a heartbeat and would very highly recommend a stay here for anyone who wants to experience the Verde Valley and Sedona areas.

Reserved this for my parents. Overall a very cool and unique place. They had a great time and we enjoyed the spaciousness. The large bathroom is across the hall and my mom complained that it was too cold. Otherwise it was great! Thank you Wendy for your hospitality. You definitely went above and beyond!
Beautiful furnishings! From the antique furniture, unique lamps and light fixtures to the many and varied collections, this VRBO is a sight to behold!!! This old schoolhouse keeps it's historical significance while providing a warm and comfortable place to stay! The "private" bath is a bit deceiving although very large and beautiful. Guests need to exit their space and cross a common hallway to enter the bath. A little inconvenient!
Wendy has a love of historical buildings and relaxing retreats. After traveling the world and exploring architecture and atmospheres that leave a lasting impression, Wendy settled here in the Verde Valley, finding a home in the comfort of grand landscape and historical buildings. Lovingly restoring each home to creating unique environments that provide a space to unwind. These visions have been combined, with luxurious restoration, to provide upscale hideaways that will be as memorable as the magnificent landscape of the Verde Valley, Sedona and the Grand Canyon.
The Storybook Schoolhouse is one of the most unique buildings in this historic town, a few moments from the Verde River. Over a hundred years old, this beautiful Schoolhouse has been lovingly restored to provide a couple of spacious suites to unwind and retreat. Every detail in the interiors has charm and character. All of the income from ours guests goes directly into the schoolhouse restoration.
The two available suites at the Historic Schoolhouse are grand and provide ample space too linger for weeks on end. Come relax, kick your shoes off, and enjoy comfort and peace and quiet. Rest, unwind and feel the restoration that this environment provides.
