Great Stay at the Shore

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My family and I stayed at Sleepy Hollow for a long weekend with extended family from Arizona, North Carolina and Chicago. We enjoyed our stay very much! Our only wish would have been for warmer weather!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Very pleased with our vacation rental. The house was very clean and well equipped with pots, pans, dishes, glasses, cups etc. Also the location of the house is excellent as it overlooks the lake and is a short walk to the beach. We saw plenty of gorgeous sunsets, just sitting on the porch. There were lots of activities for our grandchildren including a large swimming pool (with excellent lifeguards), playground, organized activies for kids etc. A very nice touch is housekeeping changing our towels midweek. The staff is very friendly and helped us move things to the car as we moved out. All in all, we had an excellent time. The only disappointment was that when we tried to reserve the same house for the same weekend next year, it wasn't available

The management staff is fantastic and will do anything to make your stay a great one. The amenities offer something for all ages in our group. It is a hidden gem in the South Haven beach community!

Excellent Location, Unit Condition Poor

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is a tough property to review because Sleepy Hollow overall and the view of the lake from this property is spectacular. My issue with this unit is that for this price point, it could NEVER get this high of a review on Airbnb because the unit condition leaves something to be desired every year. We've been going for years, and there is a lamp in one room (the only lamp, btw) that never works, one of the bathroom medicine cabinets was straight up dirty from the prior guests, faucets hadn't been thoroughly cleaned, there was toothpaste spit on the bathroom walls and the door to the microwave was both filthy and falling off. This is the fault of the cleaning staff, who need better training and oversight--and perhaps more time to tend to each unit on turnaround days. The rest of the resort, from front office to pool crew to grounds crew are fantastic. We keep coming back because the rest of my family loves it here. So now I bring cleaning supplies, do my own once-over when I arrive (terrible, I know--I do it for the kids) and then sit and enjoy the view.

Shore 38 had an awesome view of the lake, was very comfortable, and was a wonderful gathering place for others in our group (4 other units on the property were rented). We made use of the resort provided tennis courts, pool, bikes and activities for kids. The beach was very nice, but a bit of a hike down the steps.

We were a little disappointed with the cleaning. When we arrived, coffee grounds from the last tenant had not been removed from the coffee maker and had molded over. In addition, one of the guest toilets had not been scrubbed as there was a mess left behind from the previous tenants.

Awesome unit!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We spent a week in Shore 38, and couldn't have asked for a better experience! The unit was better than described. On arrival, we were awed by the spacious, bright interior. The cleaning crew had done a superb job! The unit was well stocked with anything you might need, and the staff responded very promptly to any additional needs. Beds were very comfortable; linens and towels were of good quality. Furniture was comfortable and plentiful. There was plenty of hot water to allow showers for all. The only issues we experienced were a non-functioning porch light, which both resort maintenance and a local electrician tried to fix, to no avail, but I'm sure this will be taken care of. And, we did have to frequently reboot the wi-fi router due to loss of signal. Other than these two minor concerns, everything was perfect!Guests should be aware this unit is on the ground level rear (lake-facing side) of a multi unit building. It does require descending and ascending 15 steps, which might be an issue for elderly or mobility-limited guests.The unit offers the ability to walk out the rear sliding doors onto an expansive deck with plenty of seating, overlooking the lake. One could easily spend the day on the deck sipping your favorite beverage and watching the boat traffic go by!The resort grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. For swimmers, the large pool is only a short walk away. Beach access is a short walk uphill from the unit, then down approximately 70 steps.In summary, we highly recommend this unit, and wouldn't hesitate to return!

Hugely disappointing

Reviewer Comments: Having stayed at Sleepy Hollow many times long ago, I was very disappointed in the condition in which I found it this time. The unit was very dirty; floors had not been swept nor washed, cobwebs in ceiling corners and on fans, bugs on windowsills, the refrigerator had not been emptied nor cleaned between tenants. Some of the porch furniture was broken, the dishwasher was not mounted properly, one of the shower doors was broken. The kitchen was very poorly equipped; dull knives and no cutting boards. The unit has a great setting, but there has been no attention paid to maintenance and cleaning. Beds were comfortable. Management was not especially responsive, though I did eventually get a refund for part of my stay.

I do have to comment that some porch furniture was broken and should be replaced and also inconvenience of the smoke alarms going off for no reason. The people who checked on them didn’t seem to know how to correct the problem.

The property is beautifully landscaped.Our unit was poorly cleaned...especially the kitchen. Floors were dusty except in bathrooms which were well kept. Utility room was very dirty. Kitchen contained canned/boxed leftover food stuff from LONG ago. Drawers were dirty as was stove. Refrigerator was clean.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location of the unit is terrific - with a view of the lake the most appealing. The Sleepy Hollow staff - in all instances - was most attentive and responsive. While there were minor issues with #38 (broken washing machine and blinds that did not function in one of the bedrooms) we were able to overlook them and had another super week. One highlight, with twin 6-year olds, was the activity coordinators for morning arts and crafts and afternoon activities. The twins LOVED them! That alone made for a super week. Thank you!
