à propos de cet hébergement
New Island Cottage on Remote Daufuskie Island
Thanks for taking a look at our Daufuskie Island Home. You have lots of choices, and we hope you'll love what we have to offer.
Our home on Daufuskie Island is a traditional island cottage, completed in February of 2021. The 3 Bedroom, 2 Bath cottage is the perfect home away from home for the vacationer that wants to be a little away from it all, but not necessarily sacrifice any modern amenities.
Talk about curb appeal, I have to give credit to my wife for the color, but the deep Navy blue trimmed in white welcomes you to the property as you turn in off of Haig Point Rd. Once parked, the 340 square foot screened porch welcomes you. Is this the perfect place to start the day with a cup of coffee, or to relax after a long day at the beach. Could be both.
Using the electronic keypad for entry, you can step inside our mid-century modern living room and kitchen space. You'll immediately notice the 65" SmartTV and integrated sound bar. With plenty of comfortable seating for 6, what better way to spend the evening than catching up on your favorite TV shows, or sharing family movie night.
In the eat in kitchen, you'll be surrounded by plenty of cabinet space, brand new stainless steel appliances, and everything you need to make a meal for two or a feast for 6. I cook extensively, and my wife has done a great job outfitting this kitchen with all the things I have reached for in our travels. While we don't have a stand mixer or a blender, we have spent time making sure there are plenty of utensils, mixing bowls, storage containers, pots, pans, lids and measuring cups. I'm sure we're missing some things, but after three months of living here, hopefully they are few and far between.
Down the hallway, you'll find three tastefully decorated bedrooms. The first bedroom, the Main Bedroom, includes a queen size bed with a new memory foam mattress, comfortable sheets, and plenty of pillow options. The adjoining en suite bath includes a spacious walk in shower. This was my guilty pleasure in our new home. I love space in the shower. Also in the bedroom you'll see another 65" SmartTV identical to the one in the living room with integrated sound bar. For clothing, there is a dresser, two night stands, and a closet if necessary.
Across the hall from the Main Bedroom is the Teal Queen Guest Room. As the name might indicate, it has a queen sized bed topped with a memory foam mattress, and all the finery of the main bedroom sheet and pillow offerings. The TV is a bit smaller, only at 40", but all your SmartTv apps are also available here. On either side of the bed, you'll find night stands with storage and the room also offers a closet as well.
Finally, the Twin bedroom is perfect for the kids, or the more independent sleepers of your group. Same brand new memory foam mattress and pillow options make a good night sleep very easy. 40" SmartTV with HDMI connections for all the plug-ins you might want to bring, and plenty of storage in the closet and dresser as well.
Finally, the guest bath is a shared space, shared between the Teal Queen Bedroom and the Twin Bedroom. It has a tub, just in case you find yourself in the need of a nice relaxing soak, or if there are some little ones that need a more defined space to get clean.
Kim and I built this house to be our home. We love Daufuskie Island, and we hope you will too. Below are a few helpful tips and tricks to make your visit a little bit easier. We put together an entire Facebook Page to pull together some of the information that we found useful on our trips here before our house was finished. I'll link the to entire page here, but for specific information about part of your journey, I've linked the relevant portions below as well.

Boat Transportation - Daufuskie Island as you might guess, is an island. Unlike nearby Hilton Head or Tybee Island, however, there is no bridge. The only way to get here is by boat.
Ground Transportation - Well you've made it to the island, now how do you get to the house from the dock. You'll need transportation from the dock to the house.
Getting around on Daufuskie - With no bridge, that means no car. So you're going to need transportation. Most people opt for a golf cart, but there are other options. Keep in mind, while we do have our private golf cart in a couple of the pictures, we do not include it with our rental.
All the transportation ins and outs can be found here in the album linked below. Just click on any picture in the album for more information.

Food - Daufuskie is a small place, and because of it's isolation, you'll need to plan you meals ahead of time. There are some great restaurants on the island, but you're not gonna be able to hop into Publix to pick-up a roll of paper towels and if you find yourself here on a Monday or Tuesday the eating out options are very slim. Hopefully the information we have provided will help. Just click on any picture in the album listed below for more information.

Knowing that bringing a family's worth of stuff with you on a boat trip, we've tried to provide some help. We stock 6 Tommy Bahama beach chairs just behind the couch on the screened porch, as well as a Rock Bros 36 Can Soft sided cooler with shoulder strap to get you to the beach. We even have some sand toys for the kids just in case you don't want the hassle or forget your own.
Finally, please take a look at the information below for some more odds and ends about our house and this island. We trust you'll have a great time.
