Fact #1: All fees are provided by VRBO prior to booking. Our rental agreement and house rules are included in our VRBO listing and are available for any guest to review prior to booking. We ask that these two documents be signed and returned prior to arrival. The only additional fees charged would be for pets that are disclosed after the booking has been paid for. We charge an additional cleaning fee of $75.00/dog/stay with a maximum of two dogs allowed. We do not charge extra for the number of guests but do have a maximum of 8 guests per stay. We do ask for the number of guests during the stay so our cleaners can budget there time accordingly during the post stay cleaning. Fact #2: We do have a chain across our driveway that we ask the guests to open upon arrival and put back up when departing. Our cabin is on 10 acres, very secluded and located on a dead-end gravel road with little traffic. We do not live at our cabin and we have the chain up to discourage people from driving up our driveway when we are away. Fact #3: Prior to this review, we have all 5-Star reviews with no one every suggesting the cabin was dirty. We have professional cleaners that clean our cabin upon every guest’s departure. The cabin was cleaned 7 days prior to your arrival. During that time, some bugs may have entered the cabin. Bugs become more active in May and June in this area as the temperature warms up and humidity climbs. We do spray the exterior of the cabin to prevent bugs from entering and the exterior of the property was treated a few weeks prior to your stay. Fact #4: In our rental agreement we ask for the number of adults, children and dogs that will be at the property during your stay. Your signed rental agreement states there would be two adults, two children and zero dogs. We do have a camera on the exterior of the property for security purposes as with the chain across the driveway. Since we are not located in the immediate area, we rely on this camera for security and to confirm who and what is at our property, included the number of people and number of pets. After reviewing the camera feed, we noticed there were two dogs that were not disclosed prior to your arrival. We did not email regarding the dogs and additional guests until the following day. Not only did you not disclose bringing two dogs, your two additional guests brought one dog as well for a total of three undisclosed dogs with you during your stay. The only assumption we can make is you were trying to circumvent the pet fees and the number of dogs allowed, which is two. You were not charged $75 additional fee for a dog and two additional guests, you were charged $225 additional cleaning for having three dogs in the property during your stay, which violates the maximum number of dogs allowed. You did pay the additional cleaning fee for the three dogs during your stay. Fact #5: We have received only 5-Star reviews until your review. We will let all our prior reviews stand on their own merits and let people reading this response and draw their own conclusions on who is telling the truth. Fact #6: Laundry is by special request and no additional fee is required. Our laundry room is locked as it contains many of our cleaning and household supplies. The laundry machines take instructions to be able to operate during a guests stay and the door needs to be unlocked, so that is why we require a special request from guests. Unfortunately, it is guests like yourselves that have owners like us considering not offering our million+ dollar luxury cabin as a short-term vacation rental anymore. It is sad that you can outright lie and slander us in a review and not be held accountable. Karma has a funny way of catching up to people like yourselves. Shame on you.
