The house was perfect for our large family. It was so peaceful and quiet, a great time to laugh, play and relax. So well stocked with the necessities , best we have ever had in a rental.

This was a fantastic family getaway. We celebrated our mom’s 90th birthday and it was wonderful. We went for walks, explored the island and had a great time talking over the campfire.Highly recommend this place.

This property was absolutely amazing. The Douglas and VanHorn families thought of everything. From games and puzzles and beach towels to cookware-whatever we needed we found! Michelle was attentive and extremely helpful. The home and surroundings were clean and tidy. A 5 star experience in every way.

This home is lovely. My sister & I started vacationing together when our kids were small. We live several states away from one another and wanted our kids to grow up knowing their cousins, The kids are now all in their twenties and we’ve had some great trips together—but this one ranks #1. The location is unique and the house is wonderful. It was immaculate and we wanted for nothing. It was by far the best stocked property we’ve stayed at. Hosts were very responsive and the house manager, who was local, was friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend this property!

Great Place for Families

This is our second stay at this location and it was just as enjoyable as the first. Beautiful view with lots of area for kids to swim as well as ample area for sleeping for a large family. The owner is very responsive and accommodating. The property manager is as well!

This was our second year staying at Bonum Est. The house is beautiful and plenty big for our group of 13. The view of the bridge is spectacular, and we all had a great time kayaking to Round Island and exploring.

Awesome Place!!!

We had a fabulous time staying at your place. It was so peaceful and such a great space to have our whole family...all 15 of us. The view is fabulous and the sunsets were perfect for pregnancy and senior pictures!!! The grandkids had a blast exploring and just playing outside. Thanks so much for sharing this blessed space!

Stunning views, Lovely property

A huge thanks to our hosts for a fantastic stay!! The house, location and views are phenomenal. We were a group of 15 here for our annual family vacation… ages 7 weeks to 90 years. It was perfect for everyone. The house is gorgeous and very well appointed. It was nice having the property manager meet us there at check-in and checkout. Her orientation to the house and island established a good start to a wonderful week! We are planning to return next year.

Island Getaway

The views are spectacular! Our family enjoyed the extremes, from literally just sitting and freighter watching to kayaking in Lake Huron. Fireworks and sunsets were picture worthy, the screened in fire pit was a great place to end the day. The kitchen was thoughtfully stocked. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves making memories!!

A beautiful place to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary with our kids and grandchildren! Weather was terrific, except for the haze from the Canadian wildfires, ruined the sunsets, but on our last night there, it cleared, and we had a beautiful sunset! Home is well stocked, property manager was exceptional! Sleeping arrangements were tight, would have been nice to have a bedroom with bunks, and, or, hide a bed couches, teenage boys slept on couches. Overall a beautiful home, wonderful memories!

Great time

Our family had a perfect week. Everything in the house is excellent quality construction, very impressive to accomplish on a island with limited resources. The property is very large, impressive, peaceful, beautiful, among other flattering adjectives. The views from the house are honestly one of a kind. We had 8 adults and 5 kids for the week and we were very comfortable. Definitely recommend.

A slice of heaven on earth!

Wow! What an amazing week in one of the neatest, most beautiful places on the planet! The home is stunning, and can accommodate a large group. Having Lake Huron as the backyard provides peace and serenity. The lighthouse feature is one of a kind! Wendy is amazing to work with, and property manager Michelle is so helpful! Bonum Est has become our favorite place for family vacation. We will be back!!

Awesome Beautiful Quiet Location

This was an awesome, beautiful, quiet location. That is, until our family of 15 arrived. Then the swimming, canoeing, fishing, biking, running, walking, campfires started. There were all age ranges from 7-70 and we all kept actively engaged. The beauty of the area was awe inspiring. And the house….very comfortable and appropriate for the area. The lighthouse was a great vantage point. The bedrooms (6) and bathrooms were very nicely appointed. It was a family vacation that we will remember forever.

Can’t beat the views!

We had a great time here. The beach area is very rocky, like no sand, so definitely bring water shoes! Outside of that the place and the sunsets with the Mackinaw Bridge in the background were stunning. They provided everything you would expect and beach toys too. We made good use of the new screened in fire pit too. Very relaxing and beautiful place just be prepared for a 25 minute drive to get more ice for coolers and a few critters around - some of our kids loved that part though.

50th Wedding Anniversary Relaxation

My In-laws love the area of St. Ignace and Mackinaw…So finding this home and being able to stay here was a perfect way to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary. The Little dudes had so much fun catching the reptiles and amphibians…and there was a ton to catch. The solitude of the point allowed the family to become tighter; tournaments of Corn Hole, Wiffle Ball Home Run Derby, and Euchre (when it was raining).The indoor/outdoor fire area was amazing…. Though the weather was great and we did not have to use much. To end the week…. 4th of July in the Straits of Mackinac…. Truly beautiful!
