Island Getaway on BBI - Beautiful Log Home with Sandy Beachfront on Lake Huron

This gorgeous log home has a million dollar view of Gull Island and the Straits of Mackinac, located on Michigan's best kept secret; Bois Blanc Island. 3 bedroom home, 2 baths, 265' of sandy beachfront, with a private dock. A must see one of a kind experience!

Come explore Bois Blanc Island, a 45 minute ferry ride from Cheboygan Mi.

This unique log home, we call the BBI Lake Effect Lodge, is constructed of 18" logs and is magnificent to behold. The setting is very private with no nearby neighbors, yet the location is close to the Tavern, Diner, Ferry, and other attractions. A large private dock with good fishing for smallmouth bass is right out front. A campfire in the firepit is always a popular gathering spot.

The kitchen is fully stocked, just bring your own food. A washer and drier is available for use.

BBI offers many trails for hiking , 4-wheeling, and bicycle riding. Side-by-side vehicles are available for rent nearby.

Fishermen and hunters are welcome. Fish for salmon, lake trout, smallmouth bass in Lake Huron or try one of 4 large inland lakes for perch, walleye, pike, bullheads, and small mouth bass. BBI has hundreds of acres of state owned hunting land and has a plentiful deer population. BBI is also a popular destination for duck hunters.

Natural Beauty

This is an impressive log home on a secluded stretch of Lake Huron beach. We saw bald eagles every day along with a sweeping view of the lake. It is definitely a great place for a relaxing getaway.

Amazing Stay

I cannot say enough great things about this property. The house itself was very spacious, beautiful, and comfortable. It had everything you could need in terms of cooking and cleaning supplies. Everything was in perfect condition. The property was unbelievable. We spent time relaxing on the porch, watching wildlife including bald eagles every morning, we enjoyed relaxing, kayaking, and fishing. In the evenings, we enjoyed a bonfire and stargazing. It’s quiet and great location close to the ferry dock as well as to the restaurant or general store if you wanted to visit those places. I would highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

I had an amazing stay at the Lake Effect Lodge. The cabin was spotless, well-stocked, and thoughtfully prepared—it had everything I needed and then some. The setting was peaceful and secluded, the perfect place to disconnect and recharge. Bois Blanc Island itself is a hidden gem, full of natural beauty, quiet charm, and scenic trails. Robert was a great host—communicative, welcoming, and clearly cares about his guests’ experience. Two nights weren’t enough, and I’m already planning a return trip. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for a relaxing escape into nature.

A little slice of heaven!

The location of this property is bliss. Nothing but relaxation watching the eagles, ferry and freighters pass by. Got to watch the osprey fish every and and the eagle chase it out of it's territory. Mornings spent on the porch are a special start to each day. A short walk along the beach takes you to a sand bar where the swimming is spectacular. Nice sandy beach with shallow water perfect for kids of all ages. Take a chair, sit or lay in the water and work on your tan. The house had everything you think of from linens, towels, soaps, and food staples. All the pots and pans needed to create a simple or gourmet meal are provided. The owner graciously allows garbage to go to the transfer station which other renters do not allow. Also, pop cans may be left. This was great! We didn't have to plan space for transporting trash & bottles off the island like in past years. Would definitely stay again! The owner was a pleasure to work with. Ready to plan next year's trip!

Great Location!

We loved the location, the Gull island right across from the house. Lots of wildlife to see. The property could use some minor upgrades on pans and towels, but everything has been great otherwise!

Beautiful house and setting.

Our whole group (ages 5-61) enjoyed being at BBI Lake Effect Lodge. Beautiful, spacious, log home in a stunning location. The kids enjoyed playing in the sand and water along the sand bar. Great fishing off the dock. Nice lakeside fire pit and plenty of seating available. 100% recommend.

Superb Cabin

A very nice getaway cabin. Quiet. Relaxing. Nicely accessorized. Great view and lake access. Beautiful property and the cabin is comfortable and very outdoor oriented. Liked the lsland in total. Friendly folks. The Outpost general store and restaurant was a nice place with great pizza.

Family Vacation

I stayed at this property with my almost 2 year old daughter, teenage stepsons, husband, sister-in-law and mother-in-law. The property was beautiful! We loved that the water was mostly shallow so we didn't have to worry too much about our 2 year old getting into water over her head. BBI is a really fun island to explore. The highlight for the boys was the ATV rental day-- Robert provided contact information for ATV rentals and some other activities, which was a really nice touch. We can't wait to come back!

This was an amazing house and property. Clean and had everything we needed. Was a 2 family vacation with our pets. Was very happy and would recommend this rental to anyone that wants solitude and an amazing view. The bunkhouse will forever be Hawkes own special house

Relaxing Stay on Bob-lo

The Lodge was a terrific place for a long family weekend. We found the property to be very roomy for 3 couples plus a dog. The front porch facing Lake Huron - with a porch swing, chairs, and picnic table - was one of our favorite spots. We found the Gas Grill clean and ready to go and used several times during our stay. The firepit came with a stack of dry wood which we really appreciated! We brought our kayaks and were very happy to launch from the beach for an easy paddle. This was the first time to BBI for most of us (my daughter had been once before), and we loved the slower, quieter pace of the Island. The Lodge was a great accommodation for our time there.

Perfect getaway!

This was our 6th girls only island getaway and it was perfect. Mr. Cochran has everything you could need in the kitchen, bedroom, cleaning supplies, games, working wifi
.. It was so well equipped that I took notes as host for our own rental. The 6 of us highly recommend this cottage.

Charming Lakefront Log House for Our Family Getaway

We had an amazing time at this cozy log house on Lake Huron! From the moment we walked in, we felt very comfortable and relaxed. The house was perfect for our family, and we loved every minute of our stay. We spent our days paddle boating on the lake, exploring the island, and just soaking in the beautiful surroundings. One of the highlights was celebrating my birthday under the strawberry moon—so cool! The kids had a blast filming their own movie, and we all enjoyed hanging out around the campfire and playing card games together. This place has a unique lakefront location and was the perfect getaway from the everyday busy life. Falling asleep to the sound of waves and waking up to the birds was just what we needed. We left feeling totally refreshed and with so many great memories. We can’t wait to come back!

Spacious modern cabin on the water

Stayed with a group of seven adults and at no time did the cabin feel at all cramped. One of the highlights of the trip was the amount of wildlife that we were able to see just from the back yard of the cabin including hummingbirds, bald eagles, deer, and a beaver that swam past in the lake one evening. This cabin, and Bois Blanc Island, are perfect for any person, group, or family that really wants to get away and out into nature in a truly unique setting.

Lakefront stay

This cabin was everything our family wanted and more! We had 5 adults, 1 teenager, and 3 kiddos ages 9 and 11 and all of us loved it! There was fishing, bird watching, nightly campfires, yard games, etc. There was plenty of room for all of us to sleep and be comfortable. We arrived on the island early and the property owner was very flexible with letting us drop some items off. Would stay there again in a heartbeat and would highly recommend to anyone!

Even better than expected

Beautiful, secluded one of a kind cabin that was clean, fresh smelling and roomy. Great small mouth bass fishing right off the dock. Local host very informative and responsive to questions and requests. Large yard for family games and wonderful covered front porch with swing to gather, view lake and watch the freighters go through The Straights.
