Unwind at this beautifully restored 1932 cabin style home. This cozy house located in Challis Idaho is the perfect spot to relax, slow down, and unwind.
For adventure seekers, it is the ideal home base. We are about a 30 minute drive from Gold Bug Hot Springs.
We are in walking distance to local restaurants, bars, and the library. There is a local spring where you can fill your water bottles with fresh water.
Was perfect for our recent fishing trip. Wood provided for the wood stove. Furnace worked great. Beds were confu and place was clean. Owner responded quickly with questions. Definitely will use it again if available
Our stay was excellent. It was very clean and well kept. We had to locate the water heater to turn that on during our stay. I also want to make it known to other future guests that this is not as friendly of a pet home as it would seem with the description. They request that pets stay off of all furniture. While I respect their decision for this, I will admit it would be better to know that rule before hand in the event you don't have the proper items to adhere to that rule. I hope this information helps for future guests if they plan on staying here, especially if they bring their pets along.
Great place to stay! Stayed with friends to run the local River of No Return race and this was a great place to sleep and recover. Place was clean, bed was really comfortable and everything was great!
Only thing that could improve a little was I didn't receive the instructions to get in until the morning of our visit, which was a little unnerving. However, we got the instructions and got in just fine.
The home has been renovated. The master has a nice king sized bed. Home has microwave and even a washer and dryer (we didnt use them though). Very quiet neighborhood!
Nice property and everything needed. Owner responds. One thing being a few older women, the shower will be hard to get into and slippery.
great time thanks
Once we actually got into the house it was nice and clean. However, getting into the house was a challenge. No check in details were provided before the stay and I was unable to reach the owner at either phone number or through the messaging service on the app. We had to sit and ring the Ring doorbell constantly in order to get the code to get into the house. It took 3 hours to get into the house due to lack of response from the owner which should never happen. Even Vrbo customer service was unable to get ahold of him. So anyone planning on staying here in the future should attempt to obtain check in details prior to the day of arrival to avoid this happening to them. The host said the check in info is online but on the VRBO app and online and in the email I received it said the host has not provided check in details. Maybe he has on other sites but thatâs not what I used. Other than that the house was fine, no concerns with the property, just the lack of owner response.
Check-in time is at 2pm - I reached out to property owner/manager at 1:45pm day of check in, about the check-in details, because they had not been released yet. The phone number on the property to contact the owner was not in service so I had to message him through VRBO only.
There was some back and forth on what check-in time was now to be expected - the check in time was moved from 2pm to 6pm due to cleaner having some issues and owner revealed his working phone number at 4pm.
Upon arrival, the house was beautiful! 5/5 stars.
Some issues we had:
-Dishwasher was broken and that was not disclosed until 4:30pm on check-in day.
-The bedrooms are not centrally heated so the bedroom doors had to be open to get heat. Only heater was located in living room.
We would stay again, however, better communication would need to take place.
Nice place, clean and modern, comfy king bed. BUTâŠ.thereâs MANY RULES POSTED THAT ARENâT MENTIONED IN LISTINGâŠ.. dogs not allowed on carpet or furniture, no SHOES on carpet, must STRIP ALL SHEETS, couldnât use any dishes for dog. Had a detailed description of how exactly to close shower curtain.
Now Iâd never allow dogs on furniture but not on carpet?! And taking off shoes on carpet!!! Jeez!
Bathtub was cute as an old fashioned cattle watering metal tub but it was so high I couldnât step over to get in, although I have balance issues and a bum leg that canât raise that high. I wish I knew it was that high before booking. I could see picture but couldnât tell how tall it really was.
Bed was very tall, mattress nice and firm and supportive with a nice pillowtop type mattress pad. It was so nice to have a king bed!
Wood burning stove was nice and entire place has a nice rustic, but modern cabin feel.
Now in addition to $145 rate, I paid $50 for pets, $30 for cleaning and $20 service feeâŠ.so donât you think THEY could do the beddingâŠat LEAST? Isnât that exactly what Iâm PAYING FOR?
So overall, I wouldnât choose this place again. Not enough "service" offered and I think they need to change to NO PETS as itâs not really pet friendly.
I need to say my 2 dogs are 25lb extremely well trained and well behaved Australian Shepherds. Itâs not like I had two giant wild crazy dogs running around.
Funny how some of these ârulesâ really irked me and left a bad taste in my mouth. Iâve stayed in at least 20 VRBOs and never found any as fussy as this one. I have photos but don't see a way to attach them to this review.
Our stay at Jason's house was wonderful. With a party of four adults, two kids, and a dog, everybody had their own sleeping space, and plenty of room for lounging in the living room. The new appliances in the kitchen were a serious perk, and we really appreciated the on-demand water heater for providing us all with a great shower experience without having to worry about hot water supply. Jason was a joy to communicate with! He welcomed us warmly and gave us all the little tips needed to make our time in Challis the best possible. If you want to visit Goldbug Hotsprings, they Pahsimeroi Valley, or any of the many other natural beauties of the area, Jason's house makes a great base camp!
The mountain views from the property are gorgeous! Jason's place is clean, nice, and has everything you'd need. Especially loved the large sectional and the shower. The House Rules are only listed inside the home so be advised that you'll need to keep pets out of your bedrooms and off the furniture.
Challis is a small, quaint little town and finding a rental is difficult. We were lucky enough to find this little gem. Located within the town of Challis, too. From the outside it was not overly impressive, but the inside was very nice. It was clean. And it had all of the amenities we needed. I would stay here again.
Interior was very clean and comfortable. Great Kitchen! One bathroom with 5 people was tough. One of the twin beds sags. Quiet neighborhood close to town but not far from the golf course. No yard or decks. I would rent here again.
The property was very warm and welcoming and very clean. Very fun decor. We would definitely stay again. Two of the guests were first time VRBOers and they loved it.
The property was everything as advertised, except the tv's. They are smart tv's but without cable/internet/wifi, there's nothing smart about them.
Anyway, we fired up our mobile SONOS and had a wonderful evening listening to music and cooking dinner. If visiting Challis, it's a great place to stay.
We stayed as two families coming through town to explore the area. The house is cute inside, comfortable and well stocked. Jason was responsive and helpful. The area is pretty sleepy but is close to a lot of outdoor options. Goldbug Hot Springs was amazing. The house comfortably sleeps 6 and the couch, which can easily accommodate a couple kids, is super comfortable. It was a lovely stay.
