Chicopee Rose Cottage - Pet & Family Friendly, Back Deck, Near Downtown & UGA
Adorable cozy 1940's cottage! Located in the historic Chicopee Dudley neighborhood - less than a mile from downtown, UGA, Classic Center and all that downtown has to offer. Backs up to the 113 acre Walker Park with 5 miles of biking & walking trails, playground, public splash pad, and easy walk to the North Oconee River Greenway and Dudley Park! Enjoy shopping, dining, live music, festivals, art galleries. Nice private porch, deck & fenced yard. $7 Lyft /Uber ride downtown. No Parties allowed.
The beds were really comfortable and it was a great amount of space. The full backyard was a perfect addition. In a cute neighborhood that was close to downtown but very quiet and beautiful.
The cottage was also very close to Walker Park, which had great trails for walking our dogs. Loads of restaurants and shops were within just a couple of miles. We really enjoyed our stay in Athens!
This is a very nicely appointed, compact little cottage in a great location. Our focus was on entertaining our 8-year-old and our puppy, but it's also close to UGA and a bunch of great restaurants and bars if that's your thing.
We stayed for a week while my daughter was attending an intensive at UGA. 5 minutes to campus. Lots of bed space, only one tiny bathroom but it worked for us. Owners were easy to work with and friendly and the home was spotlessly clean.
Chicopee Rose cottage is cute, clean and very well appointed. The cottage is near a park with lots of paved and dirt trails which is why we chose itâŠwe brought our beagle and he enjoyed the trails and woods. We were able to walk to downtown with all its shops and restaurants. Neighbors were all friendly. The street was busy but there are sidewalks.
The host Gwyneth could not be nicer. The house was charming and as listed by the host. We were more than pleased with all the check-in and check-out detail. It is a stress reliever knowing just what needs to be done so all parties have a good transaction. Good backyard for a dog as it has a six foot fence. Not a bad walk to downtown or stadium on cool fall evenings Cheers, Jim
We loved this comfortable quirky home. It is so close to the park and Oconnee Greenway. We could walk and run right there. You are within a mile or mile and half from everything you want to do. Loved the peaceful back porch and screened front porch. The directions were really easy no problems checking in. We are very eclectic and artistic so we loved the fun artistic touches. Also my husband is a huge fan of labeling the host has everything labeled to make it so easy to find everything. We would definitely stay here on another Athens weekend. This was a birthday trip for my husband and this home was a great addition to the weekend
No power when arrived.
Lots of roaches... Palmetto and German.
Both showers were not properly functioning.
Not fully air-conditioned.
"Beds" were uncomfortable [futons for 2 of 3 we were allowed to use.
Laundry soap had bugs in it.
Large slugs in the indoor shower.
Red wasps all over the ground outside... Not pet friendly.
Ant killer on large ant beds in the front yard... Not pet friendly.
No coffee beans to grind for fresh coffee or grinder and no tea any where.
1 roll of toilet paper ... had to message for another roll.
Toys were broken or non functioning.
Overall I would not recommend.
Property is a quaint cottage 1.4 miles from downtown Athens. Easy walk across the river and up the hill to town. Donât use kitchen etc but seemed to have everything you need. Slept and showered there basically.
It's okay to choose doing the right thing over money!
I rented this place because my daughter was invited to the Honor Chorus in Athens, GAâan achievement we were so excited to celebrate. Unfortunately, the event was canceled due to a snowstorm, and with ice covering the roads, traveling was simply not safe. Hundreds of drivers were stranded, and Iâm grateful we didnât take the risk. Given the circumstances, I reached out to the owner, hoping for some understanding and the possibility of rescheduling. Instead, I was told that because it was too close to our arrival date, switching dates wasnât an option. The only offer was a partial refundâhalf of the 800âif I canceled and if someone else booked the stay. Itâs disappointing when policies are prioritized over peopleâs safety, but I hope this message encourages more kindness and flexibility when unexpected circumstances arise.
This reminded me of my grandmotherâs house. It has a musty smell, the tiny place was cluttered with old mix-matched furniture. It reminded me of a hoarderâs home. We found live and dead bugs all over. The home is barely visible from the street as it is hidden behind trees and bushes. A few lamps and ceiling lights needed light bulbs. The home lacks even heating as the central heat does not uniformly spread throughout the entire home. Walls are all covered with paintings and pictures that donât match ch and just add to the clutter. I called the kw er about the lighting and the bugs. She did bring me lightbulbs and told me that bugs are just part of Georgia living. I would not stay here again.
Met up with my sister for a long weekend. First time in Athens, attended a show at the Georgia Theater (great margaritas on the rooftop) and loved the town! We made the most of a rainy day hanging in the cozy back room. The outside shower made the stay even better. If we ever return to Athens I would absolutely book again!
Very cute and clean. We enjoyed the front screened in porch and the back deck.
Upon arrival, we couldn't get a light on in the kitchen using the two light switches. When I pulled the ceiling fan cord, a fan blade hit a wood beam because they were too close together and the ceiling fan was wobbly. I notified the host immediately. After departure, we were charged for the replacement and repair before the work was even done. Then, I received a partial credit once it was completed.
The beds and sofas were uncomfortable. We actually left one night early because the blue room bed lacked support and caved in in the middle and my husband didn't sleep the 3 nights we were there. The sofas lacked support as well and appear to be worn out. This is probably okay for younger people but not a family with grandparents.
We enjoyed staying here. The property is conveniently located near downtown Athens. The backyard is fenced in so you can let your dogs run around. They had as good of a time as we did. Property was clean. Would definitely stay again.
My husband and l were very impressed and quite pleased with both the house/fenced in back yard (for our pups) and the location.
We were very comfortable and felt very much 'at home'... and the neighborhood was pleasantly quiet
