Hillside Haven Historic Vacation Home in Deersville by Tappan & Clendening Lakes
Step back in time when you stay at this charming, historic home in the small village of Deersville. Itâs located along the Moravian Trail as well as the Buckeye Trail, and is just minutes from Clendening Lake and Tappan Lake Park. Built in 1885, the home will remind you of simpler times. Enjoy life at a slower pace while taking advantage of the hot tub, sitting around the firepit in the large backyard and playing cards in the gamroom. Be sure to visit Deersville General Store for homemade ice cream!
We were there for family business. It was such a nice place that we plan to return for fun and relaxing. Amazing to stay in such an historical location.
My sons and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Laura and Kurtâs historical home, Hillside Haven. Itâs beautiful, in a quaint town with friendly residents. They truly make you feel like family. We will be back soon. We just LOVE Deersville.Thank you, Laura and Kurt for opening up your historical gem for all to enjoy.
House is old, so not in perfect shape. But everything was clean. So interesting to saty in a historical home. We loved that is was so close to the Deersville General Store where we walked to for their homeade ice cream. It is also close to Tappan Lake campground which is where other family members were staying.
Wonderful place to stay with family to reconnect and get away from our busy lives... the owners was very friendly and have a wonderful general store where you get everything you need and more! Fabulous ICE CREAM! WE WILL BE BACK
Absolutely beautiful home!! Lovely yard! Great for a family gathering or couples trip! Peaceful beautiful greenery! Amenities were above and beyond what we expected or needed! Ample space for a large family and children. Hot tub was absolutely perfect.
Check in and communications with the host was amazing. We contacted the hosts a few times with questions and got super prompt responses. The house was so cute and spacious, the game parlor was an added fantastic value. The television package was also amazing, I was able to watch college football on a television while away from home, instead of just on my phone. The amenities offered exceeded all of our needs! We loved these hosts and the house and hope to stay again soon! Also, the general store down the way has wonderful breakfast biscuits. The milkshakes and ice cream were delicious as well! Worth the stop in, and only 2 doors down!
This house has a lot of history and reminded me and my wife of our childhood. Very clean and organized! Appreciate the hosts for there efforts in making us welcome. We would recommend this location to anyone and would come back if the opportunity presents itself in the future. The only one negative thing we would say was that the showers did not have great water pressure. I would recommend the shower heads be replaced.
The opportunity to stay in a home built in the 1800's was fascinating! This home has so much character. We felt engulfed in the history that this home has seen and the owners have included inside the home a book that has the history of Deersville. Within an hours drive, you have the town that Clark Gable was born. A little further down the road is where Dean Martin grew up. Heading South into West Virginia we enjoyed the dog races at the local casino. Our exploring introduced to some wonderful people, shopping, and local foods. A must stop in 2 doors down from the home which is the town store and they have all you need for your stay... a must is having some ice cream. Great home, owners were very accommodating, the house was supplied with all you need. Note- plan on seeing an over abundance of deer. Truly enjoyed our stay!!!
This is a beautiful home with vintage charm and all of the modern conveniences. The adjacent general store offers tasty sandwiches, salads and supplies. The staff are warm and helpful and the ice cream is over the top. I would highly recommend this charming home. Thanks for a great stay!
One of the most memorable stays we will have as a family! We loved every bit of this place!!! Thank you for opening this amazing historic house to people and allowing our family to enjoy it!!
Our family's stay was great. Check in and check out was super easy. The house was laid out well and a great size for seven adults. Everything we needed in the kitchen was readily available for our two nightâs day. The family loved the hot tub and the general store two doors down with a wonderful homemade ice cream. We were in town for a mud run, but we also visited tap in lake for the day and did hatchet throwing which was a lot of fun. Would definitely come back again and recommend a family and friends.
Thank you for your hospitality! You've thought of everything to make us comfortable. It was so relaxing at the house that we only left to stock up on tasty treats from the general store. Can't wait to come back!
This beautiful, well maintained Victorian home immediately embraces you with its peacefulness and serenity. My daughter, four teenage grandchildren ages 14 to 18 and myself with my two small dogs had comfort and convenience in every regard. I recommend Hillside Haven Historic Home.
So close to the lake and plenty of room for our family, air conditioning was excellent in this holiday weekend and all the supplies you could think of!
