We really enjoyed our stay here. It was really comfortable and included everything we would need for our 2 night stay. I really loved the decor. It was very colorful and truely out of this world. We would definitely stay there again. Also it is easy to find if you use the instructions given.
If you are looking for a quite get away this is the place. Its 21.5 miles from Terlingua just off 183. Great location. My family and I loved staying here. It was clean , easy to get to and great for star gazing.
Great place to stay to visit Big Bend. The house was fun and funky. Itâs new and clean and has everything you need. The owners were always quick to respond to questions. We enjoyed sitting outside on the porches looking at the night sky. Internet worked well inside when we were there. The property is about 30 miles from the park. Would definitely stay here again.
The description and photos of the property are very accurate. The place was very clean with an open concept, and more than enough room for the two of us. Internet worked inside and on the porch during our stay. Nice remote location, so bring food, and drinking water. Really enjoyed sitting on the porch in the nice, quiet evenings, and looking at the stars at night. Beautiful country.
Only 20 or so minutes to Terilingua and just a little more to Big Bend.
Host was responsive and helpful when we inquired about sleeping accomodation for third person advertised, as the third adult in our party could not sleep comfortably on the sofa, and she provided a futon mattress which worked quite well. She also helped us light the gas fire place. Location is quiet, convenient to the park entrance and grocery, functional kitchen, washer/dryer. Made an ideal and cozy base camp, prior to backpacking trip!
We stayed here over spring break and really enjoyed it. Very spacious 1 bedroom barndominium type accommodation. We had 2 adults and a 10 year old girl. We slept in the king size bed and she slept on the couch. You could put 2 kids on the couch easily. You've got everything you need running water and cold AC and Wifi. Full kitchen (no dishwasher) and grill on the porch. It is 20 minutes from park entrance so that did add to the drive but not a huge deal. Plus you save a little bit of money that way. The property manager was quick to respond. Clean and no problems at all. I would stay here again.
We stayed at this property while we explored Big Bend National Park. It was difficult to find as there was NO house number on the property, even though we followed the directions given to us by the host.
We definitely overpaid for this property in which we felt like we were camping as we were constantly improvising to get by, especially in the kitchen. Other things:
Smoke detector was taken down and was without battery
Many lightbulbs were burned out. We ended up changing several ourselves.
Only a miniature pot to cook with
No lids for frying pans
Broken screen door handle
Spotty internet
Grill was so dirty we couldn't use it
NO CELL coverage in this part of Texas so a land line should be standard for emergencies.
We've rented properties all over the world and this one, by far, was most disappointing.
This location worked for our week vacation in Big Bend. Itâs a bit of a drive each day so plan accordingly. The listing indicates a washer and dryer and that was one of the reasons for booking this location. We wanted to pack light and be able to do laundry, especially our hiking clothes. Not until after we booked and paid did we find out that the washer and dryer are not for guest use. This should be taken off the amenities list so future guests know when searching for a place to stay.
Beautiful stars and sunrises are such a great part of your stay here! We heard the coyotes at night, so we really felt âout thereâ. The property is remote and peaceful with very cool decor, including some unique repurposed pieces. The high ceilings give it a very open feel. We had easy access to kayaking, zip-lining, and hiking at the state park. If you want to get away from it all, this is the place. You are in the desert, so plan and pack accordingly.
Accurate photos and description - a great open living arrangement with quirky decor about 20-25 minutes from Terlingua, and only a few minutes more to Big Bend. The patio was great in the evenings and a small fire pit available for use. Owing to the remoteness, it's fairly quiet other than the road, but also means you should come with food and charcoal (including drinking water - water on site is not potable).
The setup is great for 2 people, but can definitely fit more if the hosts allow. Would highly recommend for a quaint desert retreat that's close enough for convenience, but far enough away for the solitude.
