Had a quiet couple of days- enjoyed the house and the serenity of the mountains,House had all the amenities needed, and the kitchen well stocked..Host was very attentive.
This is that rare property that exceeds the owners description. The design of the property takes full advantage of its surroundings with large windows looking out over the trees. The 400 year old cedar lit up at night in front of the living room windows was magical. The thoughtful decor enhanced the overall experience. You will not find a better property in the area.
We had some unexpected weather challenges during our weekend, and John truly went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of. The house is meticulous and is the most well-appointed rental home at which I've stayed. We had a lovely, cozy weekend playing board games, enjoying the hot tub and exploring Idyllwild. A morning coffee with freshly ground local coffee was the perfect touch. We will certainly be back!
Beautiful home with all the amenities that you will need for your stay in this beautiful mountain town! Very easy access to downtown. The host was very accommodating. Would definitely stay here again.
The home was very welcoming - easy check in process. The location is perfect and the views from every window are spectacular. The kitchen was well stocked which made it very easy to cook. We loved the games and books and fun places throughout the house to sit and relax! The decor is well appointed and designed. We cannot wait to visit again!
We wanted to get away to do some hiking with our family and our dog and this was the perfect place to stay. The house was beautiful and well maintained and the creek that ran right behind the house was so amazing to hear. Great suggestions from the host about trails and restaurants which was very helpful.
Thank you for opening your home to us.
Perfect in every way. Beautiful, clean, comfortable, centered in and around nature. The location is ideal, 5 minutes from amazing restaurants while also being 5 minutes from incredible hiking. The windows stare at peaks we hiked to the top of during our stay. This home and host are everything you wish for in a vacation rental. A truly lovely experience.
Several serious issues:- After booking our two-week stay, the host contacted me to say it would actually be an extra thousand dollars because he hadnât configured the tax correctly in his listing.- The hot tub did not work and was not able to be repaired during our stay, despite quite a bit of discussion with the host and property manager.- The primary bathroom had a cracked bathtub. I found water in the room below, and reported the crack and leak to the host, who declined to address it during the stay.- The shag carpet in the living room was very dirty and had several choking hazards stuck in it. We had to roll it up so that our toddler and dog could be safe in the room.- The host was disorganized and was confused about our departure date. He then had the property manager contact us about watering houseplants.- The primary bathroom has inadequate lighting. Itâs not bright enough to clip your nails or see your face in the mirror.- The kitchen didnât have a pot large enough to cook pasta or beans. Also, for anyone considering booking, the third bedroom is an unenclosed loft above the living room, and none of the bedrooms have shades that darken the room, so bring an eye mask if you plan to sleep past 6 or 7 am.
From booking until checkout, John was extremely communicative, and his attention to detail is on another level; it is present in his communication with his guests and the immaculate care and design of his cabin. I would highly recommend his vacation rental.
There were 6 of us total, 3 couples, who have been friends for over 25 years. We just wanted to get away for a few nights and hang out together. It was a stunning VRBO - one of the nicest we have ever stayed in. Everything was so modern and up to date, and the house was stocked impeccably well! It was gorgeous - we don't have a single complaint. Thank you for the lovely time. We all agreed we would definitely stay there again if we come back to Idyllwild.
Truly amazing property. The views of the mountains - which are right on top of you - are incredible. The stream out back provided the perfect soundtrack for our relaxing getaway. First class amenities. Extremely responsive communication with the owner. Very close to Humber Park with two great hiking trailheads. Look no further!
This is a beautiful house with so many windows in all the right places to drink in the views of the surrounding forest. John was a helpful, responsive and communicative host, thank you for all the Idyllwild tips! Our family enjoyed this luxurious âcabinâ; we used all the decks and enjoyed all the little touches included in the decor and furnishings. I even read the apostrophe book :) I would highly recommend this home and we hope to come back another time.
Great house, modern and very up to date!
Loved feeling like your in a tree house.
Super organized and clean!
Need some wine glasses and blinds in downstairs bedroom.
John and Dan were easy to work with...class act! Loved the condiments (especially the cooking oil, tea varieties and spices). Felt like we were staying in a hotel with the plush robes...a nice touch that you usually donât get with rentals!
If you are looking for an upscale home in Idyllwild this is the one!
Our family needed a little extended weekend getaway before our children went back to school. Finding Haven Idyllwild proved to be the perfect choice for us. The beds were comfortable, the shower had great pressure, the kitchen was well appointed and well organized. Overall, we were quite comfortable and the property made for a wonderful home base.
The owner with whom we communicated was available, communicative, and quick to answer any questions we had. They also checked in with us during our stay to make sure we were enjoying our stay.
One thing of note for future guests: we received check-in instructions on check-in day that indicated the lack of cellular coverage at the house. They mean in. And while it's not a problem once you're there, my suggestion it to make sure you have those instructions available outside of the vrbo app, somewhere that doesn't require cellular service; otherwise, you'll find yourselves driving back down the hill and into town to get those instructions. Maybe that was just an "us" thing, but thought it worth mentioning.
Altogether, we would recommend Haven Idyllwild to just about any appropriately-sized group. We enjoyed our stay and it made for a wonderful getaway. My family indicated a desire to return next time we are in Idyllwild.
HAVEN is a beautifully designed custom hillside home with an open floor plan with high ceilings and is a nice mix of traditional and modern design. A lot of thought was put into the designed in the way the panoramic windows in the main room and master bed room frame views of the San Jacinto mountain peaks.
The location is ideal since it sits on a large heavily wooded lot on a small cul-de-sac street off Upper Fern Valley Rd. There are neighbors on either side of the house but the back of the house faces a valley with a beautiful mountain stream running through it and no homes in view on the downhill slope giving it a private quiet feel. I think that this is best location in all of Idyllwild best because you really get the mountain/alpine feel as a result of the large mature pines & fir trees, rocky mountainous terrain and views of the peaks in the upper Fern Valley Rd area. The location is 5 minutes away from Humber Park trailhead which has some of the best hiking trails in the area and 10 minutes to Idyllwild town center.
The house has nice furnishings with a chic mountain design. There was beautiful artwork throughout house. Kitchen appliances were high end and the kitchen was well stocked. Also appreciated the instructions affixed to everything so you can easily operate things like the fireplace and hot tub. Beds were very comfortable and bedding was of high quality. The bathrooms had spa type soaps & shampoos. The house was very clean. There are stairs to
As an avid traveler and having visited over 60 countries, I have a deep appreciation for travel and unique getaways. Creating unforgettable vacation retreat experiences is a way for me to share that feeling and excitement of travel to others. Haven is unlike any other in the mountain areas of Southern California. There are certainly more expensive stays, but nothing with the care, detail and cabin chic luxury modern-meets-eclectic signature of Haven. This is the premier cabin experience in all of SoCal.
From the unbelievable setting and views, the Japanese onsen style cedar hot tub under the 400 year old cedar tree, the location overlooking a forest and seasonal creek on property, the carefully decorated home, art, and decor, the unique signature bedrooms, chef's kitchen with every detail and spice a foodie would desire, two new beautifully renovated modern-lux bathrooms, walking distance to Idyllwild's best trails, a large selection of unique books selected just for Haven, over a dozen popular games and cards, the custom made designer foosball table, the 7 ft teak bench style dining table for big dinners with family, the 5patio decks throughout the home and the open, spacious bright interior with views all around, and cozy wood burning fire place always stocked with wood... you simply cannot beat Haven for epic (yet cozy) cabin experience.
