Want to experience what it was like to ride in a Pullman car while crossing this great country of ours? The 1894 Private Palace Pullman Car will give you that feeling and more! Theodore Roosevelt used this car on one of his trips to the 6666 Ranch in North Texas. It is believed that the Indian Chief Quanah Parker has also ridden in this unique Pullman Car. History surrounds you in every nook and cranny. This wonderful antique train car was built in 1894 by Pullman for the Quanah, Acme and Pacific railroad. Not only is the car historic, but it is very Romantic and perfect for a "Just the Two of You" Getaway.

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location is good and very walkable to some great restaurants, main street and groceries. The train car was way too cluttered, difficult to find a spot to set down a bag, the main bathroom had a rotten out door because the shower leaks so much, quite dusty and felt dirty. The AC unit did not cool down the bedroom or kitchen of the unit - and we were there on a 92 degree day, not the heat of TX summer. The idea is great, but execution mediocre at best. Needs quite a bit of TLC as someone else mentioned last year.

A unique opportunity

We very much enjoyed our stay in the train car. The AC kept us cool, it was very quiet, and a close walk or drive to everything in town.

Romantic cozy stay

The Pullman is an interesting step back in history. The preservation of the railcar character adds to ambience. The Pullman is a nice place for a romantic getaway. Only drawback was the people trying to use it as a background for photos. The steps are a little step to the entrance but not horrible

Great unique place to stay

The rental management company was very helpful with questions about the property and about things to do in town. The property itself was very clean and surprisingly spacious. It’s a wonderful unique place to rent filled with history. We can’t wait to go back next year!

Really Cool

This property is like stepping into the past. Seeing what it was like when this beautiful car was created. The bed was so soft you melted into it. Loved this train car experience.

Unique and Lovely Experience

This was one of the most unique stays! You have to stay here on your stay in Fredericksburg! The train car was decorated in authentic (or what appeared to be) furnishings, especially highlighting President Theodore Roosevelt. It was bigger than expected. The days and nights were very quiet and peaceful. It will help if you bring a small flashlight to use if walking back at night because it can be dark as you approach the train car. The hall/walkway down the train car is narrow, so it would not be comfortable for overly large individuals.

We stayed on a train!

The property was even more than expected. Felt preserved to the original vintage state but very functional. Have already recommended it a friend. Extremely clean and comfortable- the mattress was unexpectedly spectacular.. Thank you!

Post wedding/mini moon

This was the best place to rent post wedding. I wanted to find something you wouldn’t expect to find in Texas and I had no idea this Pullman car existed—having been born and raised in Texas. My husband and I met back East and moved to Texas in 2021 so I love finding things/places he wouldn’t expect to see/exist in Texas.

Unique Getaway!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We absolutely loved staying in this unique antique sleeper car. It was so interesting and fun. It is a few blocks to Main Street which we were able to walk in about 15 minutes. There is an HEB in walking distance and a lunch and dinner restaurant very close that we enjoyed Thank you for the wonderful experience. We had everything we needed and the communication was excellent.

The train was something I never dreamed of doing but found the Pullman Train Car during a search of Fredericksburg lodging.
