Sunny Sarasota with easy access to Lido and Siesta Beaches and downtown Sarasota
A charming 1925 Spanish style home beautifully furnished with books, art and beach charm. Less than 6 miles to the amazing Lido and Siesta beaches and sunsets. Located in Arlington Park neighborhood on a busy street with a public pool and tennis. Five minutes to downtown historic Sarasota with theaters, museums and restaurants. The Legacy Trail is 9 blocks from the house. Bike to Venice, 19.2 miles. 2.5 miles from Orioles spring training stadium. Near Southside Village with bistros, bars and boutiques. Enjoy the newly landscaped and fully fenced private backyard swinging in the hammock, fire pit and outdoor shower.
The house is a large two-bedroom home, with an additional den/study. The decor shows a lot of thought and excellent taste. The kitchen has everything needed, and the backyard has lots of comfortable patio furniture and a grill which we used. Itâs near Shade Street, so an easy, short drive into the downtown, and we walked to the restaurants in Southside Village, and to the Yoder restaurant in the other direction. This is a property I would love to revisit!
It was only the two of us, so more than enough space. Our favorite was the private back yard sitting by the fire ring. The street is very busy as the host stated. We had to wait for a red light on Shade Ave before we could back out. We felt secure during our stay. The house was very well equipped with dishes and glassware. The laundry served us well. The location worked well for where we wanted to go. We slept in the rear bedroom away from the street noise allowing us to sleep well. The hosts supplied beach chairs, towels etc which we put to good use on the beaches. As with all the VRBO we stay at, I would recommend the hosts to check in to see how the cleaning staff does. My wife is a clean fanatic and spent the first two hours wiping down light switches and door knobs. etc That's something we normally do at all our stays.
Sarasota has become a very busy city and the location was handy, but on a busy street with traffic noise. If you are accustomed to city noise, it probably won't be an issue. We are country people and not used to this much activity. We used the bedroom at the back of the house to minimize the street noise and the bed was quite comfortable. The house is old with some recent updates, including a nice bathroom. The kitchen is a bit small with little counter space, so we learned to use it wisely. Utensils were adequate for meal preparation. Having the bicycles was nice, but we used them less than we planned because of the traffic in town. Piper was easy to communicate with and responded to our few needs in a timely manner. The bike helmets were missing when we got there and she ordered new ones right away that arrived a few days later. We would have liked a real table and comfortable chairs for dining and working at a table. As older, retired people, the wooden benches became uncomfortable quickly. We did bring the outdoor seating cushions in and sat on them.. :)
The house was great. So well set up, all the comforts to enjoy a Florida vacation, including outdoor tables in the garden, outdoor shower etc. Nice big dining table inside, comfortable beds and couch. The AC works really well, especially in the bedrooms. We cooked at home almost the entire time, with such a well set up kitchen it was easy to do. It's about 15 minutes from Lido beach and maybe 10 from downtown.
We've been traveling to Sarasota for 30 years. Over the past two years we have been slowly renovating a 1925 Old Florida Spanish stucco house. We continue to explore all the amazing amenities in Sarasota and the surrounding area. We haven't come close to getting everywhere. Our most recent discovery was the Siesta Key Rum distillery. Great way to make an amazing Mai Tai or Pina Colada. They do tours. We'd love to host you.
Close to everything; downtown Sarasota, walk/bike/drive to Southside Village both featuring multiple bistros, bars, restaurants and boutique shopping. 5 miles to St. Armand's and Lido Beach and 6 miles to Siesta Beach (2 to the Key). The Legacy Trail bike route to Venice is now at Shade Avenue, 9 blocks from the house. The neighborhood is residential, close to schools and CORE SRQ but on a busy street. There's also a community pool, tennis courts and park in Arlington Park, about 4 blocks. Trader Joe's, Publix etc are a short drive. Downtown Sarasota with its many restaurants, shops, Farmer's market, theaters, art galleries, Whole Foods and on and on is less than 2 miles.
One of the few remaining Spanish style homes from the 1920's, our house boasts old Florida charm with wood floors (squeaky), stucco and archways. The backyard was landscaped spring 2022 and is fully fenced and gates for a private yard providing lots of options from al fresco dining, sitting around the fire pit, reading or napping in the hammock and taking a refreshing shower outdoors in the Cape Cod outdoor shower (enclosed).
