Beautiful timber-framed house with over 3900+ square feet, plus another 1100+ square feet in the guest house. Includes both buildings and 550 feet of private lake shore. It is located at the end of a 3 mile long gravel road. Quiet. Secluded. Private. Come enjoy a beautiful escape on the south shore of Lake Superior. NOW with high speed wifi! This home was built entirely from locally harvested white pine in 2002. Approximately 100 feet to Lake Superior's sandy shoreline. 10 Queen beds with three custom made bunk beds will be enough to fit your whole family and then some.
Sauna, swimming, camp fires, and star gazing... all to your heartsâ content at this secluded retreat.
Great place in south shore superior! We had 10 adults and 8 kids have a blast here for a crisp fall stay.Great location just outside of Twin ports making it easy to go visit those places. We made a day trip to Bayfield and was a great drive there.Rooms had enough space to have portable cribs.Already looking forward to our next visit with our crew!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Finally we found a rental home that provided ample room for gathering, quiet time and enough bedsâ no need for making up the couch, but it would have been a comfortable option if needed. The kitchen was well equipped, and everyone could be accommodated for seating during family meals. The game room, and outdoor games and fire pit provided fun for all ages. The home is beautiful, and the setting serene. Certain courageous family members took morning dips in the lake and followed up with a sauna. We all took walks on the beach and to the mouth of the Amnicon River.Noise does carry throughout the main house. Light sleepers may want to bring along ear plugs/noise cancellation gear. Also, be aware that the final 3.5 miles of the road is gravel.
This was a gorgeous, spacious home for our group of 17. Check-in was a breeze and our extended family had an awesome get-together. We appreciated the different common spaces both inside and outside. The lake access was great (though the last bit of the path was a little too steep for some our oldest). The nearby Amnicon Falls State Park was beautiful and very accessible.Kitchen-wise: Two coffee pots and the extra frig/ freezer in the guest house came in handy. The grill was a little tricky to operate (pellet rather than more familiar gas) but especially good for low & slow grilling. There were plenty of bathrooms but it would be great if two more of the bathrooms were adapted with handheld shower nozzles in the tubs.
The house is as pictured. We loved the two big tables to all eat together. If you have tweens or teenagers they will love the basement with all of the activities. The beach was nice. Very quiet and saw lots of deer up close. I love that they recycle. The owner was very responsive. Everything was great.
It was a great place for our families to be together. The grandkids loved walking down to Lake Superior and walking in the water and gathering rocks. They also loved the lower level with pool table and all the things to play with. It would have been nice if there had been one more shower but we worked it out. Thank you for renting it to us.
Love the vibe of the house and the beauty of the private beach. We also went into Duluth or Superior every day and did the Aquarium, breweries, bike trails, fishing excursions - it was lovely.
We had our children and their families for Memorial Day weekend. Plenty of room for all of us and the separated houses was nice. The kids LOVED the beach. Too cold to swim but they loved the sand and driftwood. We definitely enjoyed the beautiful view! Kids had plenty to keep themselves busy.
Lots of room. Easily hang out together or head somewhere for some space.Beds and bathrooms very clean. Basement had some small items left on the floor from previous guests (beer bottle tops, unsmoked cigarette). Some of the furniture showing wear and tear. Games available but many pieces missing so can't play several of them. Baby gate was missing a bottom part to secure it so that was a bit stressful with a little one running around.Drive into Duluth is reasonable with lots to do there.missing misding so can't play them. DVD pla
Exactly as described. Perfect place to enjoy the beautiful scenery. The kids had fun hiking and exploring. Going down to the water, then relaxing in the sauna and hanging out at the bonfire.
This house is great for a large group. It has a nice sized kitchen (which includes many kitchen appliances including a waffle iron, panini maker, hand mixer, etc.) and two big tables for eating. A great room that can fit many people and a downstairs area with a pool table, ping pong table, and an assortment of board games. There is a beautiful view of Lake Superior (at least in the winter with no leaves on the trees) and it is just a short walk through the woods to the lake. Overall a great stay. The only thing of note is that even though the house accommodates many people there are only 3 showers and one of those showers is accessed through the master bedroom. Two of the other bathrooms just had bathtubs. But, if you don't have a lot of people who need to get through the shower all at once, you should be good.
Spacious, comfortable, entertaining -- all around excellent
As each family arrived, they commented some variation on 'wow, this is nicer than the photos!'We visited for a long weekend with four families (8 adults, 13 children) to ski nearby. There was plenty of space to spread out and lots of room for the children to play - ping pong, darts, board games, snow fort building etc. The sauna was lovely and could fit almost all the adults. Plenty of seating, plenty of blankets and pillows, plenty of beds. Kris was very responsive and helpful. It snowed while we were there, but we were able to make it out of the driveway and gravel road. Overall a top-notch place to stay with a crowd.
The team had a wonderful stay and really appreciated all the amenities. We've stayed here for the past couple of years and have enjoyed every year since.
This was the perfect location for a large group to relax and welcome in 2025. We enjoyed hiking to the shore, games, and enough space for all of us to gather around the fire. The kitchen was adequate to feed everyone and there were seats enough for all to enjoy meals together. The large TV downstairs was great for a few wanting to watch a football game.
Our family of 7 adults and 4 littles had the perfect Christmas stay. Tons of room to spread out or all hangout in one space together. Lots to do to stay entertained and busy, with plenty of room to sneak away for a nap or to get a good night's sleep.
Great place for extended family gathering! Basement had pool table and ping pong which was fun got multi generational games. Massive leather couch was great for sitting in front of the fireplace! 2 of bedrooms upstairs had a wall that didnât go to the top of the ceiling so not private.
The property was PERFECT in accommodating our large family - it was quite a feat getting all of us together to celebrate our Dad's 80th birthday!
Both houses were clean and extremely comfortable. All the amenities you could ask for were provided, from extra towels to lots of ping pong balls and paddles. The hearth in the main house was gorgeous and cozy.
The location of the property was great for us. Secluded and quiet, with a short walk down to the lake. We were gifted perfect fall weather for our stay. We were also fortunate enough to get a harvest moon while there. It was breathtaking over the lake.
I highly recommend this property, especially for those with large groups!
Perfect !! House was more thab big enough to hold all of us!! Plenty of things to do at the house to keep busy and being so close to the lake was the cherry on top!! We even got to watch 6 deer chasing and playing
Everything about this place was perfect, the views, the house, the layouts, it made forba perfect family vacation and we even got married outside by the woods it was perfect. Will definitely be planning another trip back!
Beth, Jake, and Kris Hoffman have dreamed about owning a small slice of the north shore life. 15 acres with a timber frame house on the shores of lake superior was too good to pass up. We would love to share our special place with you and your family.
If you're looking for a house with a ton of character you've found a great place to stay. It was hand built in 2002, finished with mortice and tenon joints.
Accents like the spiral staircase and upstairs railing were salvaged from the original Superior, Wi train station. All white pine logs are from within 20 miles of the house. The main fireplace is made of locally gathered rock, as well. Tons of character abounds from every room, and built by master craftsmen. Please come and enjoy our majestic cabin on the shores of Lake Superior.
Deer, eagles, and all types of wildlife abound and can be seen walking through the front and backyard several times a day. Feel the stress melt away as you watch the flickering flame in the main room's hearth. Come and swim in one of the most beautiful lakes and rural areas in the United States. With multiple National Parks and State parks within an hour drive. 30 minutes from downtown Duluth. You can have a little bit of everything.
And did I mention the world class Steelhead fishing in the Brule River just ten miles down the road? Or the yearly salmon runs up the Amnicon, a short half mile from the front door of this house? Resident Walleye are found every spring, as well.
Whether wildlife, relaxation, or outdoors activities are your passion... There's definitely something for everyone.
