Though many days can be spent from sunup to sundown shredding fresh powder nearby, there are year-round activities throughout the area that will not disappoint. Head into Banner Elk and you will find a plethora of restaurants, shops, and grocery stores to stock up on needs during your stay. For a bit of hiking, make your way over to Grandfather Mountain State Park (nine miles) and check out the Mile High Swinging Bridge!

Won’t Return

Great location. Beautiful view. Stains on rugs, furniture, sheets. Broken sliding screen door, window in bedroom. Had to remove the screen to open the window. No AC but ok do to coolness of mountain.

Updated Mountain Condo

Very nice updated condo with a decent kitchen. Cool furnishings and great location 10 minutes from the slopes. You can see the slopes from the windows. No washer or dryer which was a surprise.

It is horrible

My family had Christmas nightmare. House is very cold. Heating system is not working well. We stayed for 4days with 4 people. They just provided 5 towers. I asked to give more three times, but never answer. This house located remote, but they didn’t clean the slow, so we had hard time to go out. The shutter bus stop is far from this house. We asked a lot to clean snow because the road freezing, the manage didn’t answer. My husband got rid of snow for more than 5hr to go home. It was terrible!

great family getaway!

we absolutely loved our stay in this little condo! it was the perfect size for our family and so close to everything (sugar mountain skiing, restaurants, grocery stores). try to arrive before dark in the winter because it can be super foggy going up the mountain. we will definitely stay here again!

Pretty, but not perfect

Multiple misses on this rental impacted our experience, such as only 1 garbage bag and 3 dishwasher tabs provided for a 5 day stay. In addition to these items, Renters should plan to bring kcups for the Keurig, plus basic kitchen cooking items such as Olive Oil, Salt & Pepper since none of these types of items are offered with the unit. We ended up having to go out to purchases them items to cover the days of our booking, but if we had known in advance we would have brought these from home. The listing indicates that a hair dryer is available on premises, but it wasn't. The top bunk had a blanket but no sheets, and the fireplace didn't work and a small temporary 'fireplace' heater tried, but failed to replace the fireplace experience and to heat the unit when temperatures dipped below freezing. Finally, while this rental indicates it is a non-smoking unit, it doesn't mean the neighbors follow the same rules. One of the neighbors did nothing but smoke cigarettes and marijuana during our stay and the unit smelled horrible the entire time. We ultimately left early because we couldn't take it anymore.

Perfectly decorated and stocked Mountain condo!

Loved the subdivision and spaciousness of this beautiful condo. Easy to park and easy to use lockbox. Once inside, there is alot of natural light and comfy seating. Great to have 2 full baths.

The decor was an A . We had trouble checking in as the provided lock box code was not valid. Took an hour and half wait on the phone to get the property management out to give us a spare key. The hot water was not set up and required an additional hour long phone call to find out that the breaker had not been turned on by management prior to our stay. The fireplace did not turn on and this never really got handled. The provided instructions did not work and at that point was too frustrated to remain making calls back and forth to fix it, instead of enjoying our vacation.

Fun weekend getaway

Great property and close to Sugar Mountain ski area - you can see the slopes from the deck! Everything was clean and like the photos. Would have appreciated a few more bed pillows and sheets for the fold-out couch but otherwise perfect.

Great location and style of home

This condo was in a beautiful mountainous location! It was a mile up on Sugar Mountain and overlooked the ski resort. The home was well decorated and the beds were super comfy. We had difficulty figuring out that fire place for heat, so we had to use space heaters to keep warm during our stay. Also, providing a few spices (salt, pepper, olive oil) would have been nice to help with buying essentials for the stay. Also, not very much paper goods were provided. Only 3 rolls of toilet paper for 2 bathrooms for 5 nights! We had to buy toilet paper and paper towels to get through the 5 nights. Other than those few suggestions, a great place to stay.
