Foothill Retreat in the Sierra Nevada Mountains

The perfect place to getaway or to “work at home” away from home in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, minutes away from Jackson and Sutter Creek. You can relax and enjoy the beautiful views of the valley in your own 1150 sq. foot 2-bedroom guest house complete with a full kitchen, living room with a wood stove fireplace, smart TV, WiFi, desk, private bath and deck with a grill. Relax by the private pool during the summer months. You will be surrounded by nature, peace & quiet. We have your health and well-being in mind at our mountain retreat cottage. Our luxurious, ultra-comfortable beds meet rigorous standards that minimize off-gassing. They are made without harmful chemicals such as formaldehyde, heavy metal and certain flame retardants. All the linens and towels are all certified organic cotton.

We love that our guest house is dog friendly. Please review the dog policies (below) and understand that there is a $20 per day per dog (limit 2) additional fee. if you bring your dog(s) you must agree to the house pet (dog only) policy via the messaging system before booking. There is a $25 per day per dog additional fee. No more than 2 dogs allowed.

The pool is available for your private enjoyment during the summer months. It is heated by the sun so the temperature of the water is dependent on the weather. (see pool rules below). There is also a grill on the private deck overlooking the valley.

Infants and children are most welcome. We do not have a crib or pack n play for infants. We will take out or put away anything you feel they might get into or result in injury. There is a brick setting around the fireplace. I have extra blankets and pillows that can be placed around it for safety. I also have metal fencing to prevent injury from the wood stove if you make a fire in it.

We do charge a cleaning fee but ask that you leave the guest house tidy as it was when you arrived. We do an in-depth cleaning and disinfecting. Any way you can help us is greatly appreciated. We ask that the dishes and kitchenware are cleaned. Also if you use the grill, we ask that you clean it as you found it. There are cleaning supplies (and a vacuum for dog hair) in the hall closet and under the kitchen sink in case of any spills or excessive dog hair shedding. Used towels and the robes (if used) can be placed in the laundry basket in the bathroom closet. We will, of course, change the linens on the beds.

Additional house rules

No loud partying or music is allowed. This is a peaceful, tranquil neighborhood and we ask you to respect that.

The pictures in the house are for sale. They were taken by local photographers of the beautiful surrounding scenery. If you take any pictures of them they may not be reproduced.

No outdoor fires allowed

Pet Policy
We love dogs here but there are some basic rules that we need you to agree to so that there is no misunderstanding for the care of our guest house and property. As I mentioned above, we are so happy to accept pets as we have always appreciated places we could go to with our furry babies.
There are 2 dog beds that have removable covers that we wash after we have had pets here. Also, we have 2 dog dishes for food and a larger dish for water.
No more than 2 dogs are allowed and you agree to the $25 per dog per day extra fee. You agree to pay at the time of booking through the reconciliation process. If you have a Service or ESA dog you must provide proof of certification.
1. You agree to pay for anything that gets damaged. (We have this rule because we have had the screen in the screen door to the deck patio completely pushed out and torn from dogs charging through. The entire door had to be re-screened.) There has been other damage, too.
2. You confirm that your dog(s) is/are potty trained.
3. You confirm that your dog(s) is/are trained to NOT mark in the house.
4. You confirm that you dog(s) is/are human and pet friendly.
5. You agree on arrival to let your dog(s) go on the grass before bringing it/them inside. Leashes required.
6. Dogs barking outside for extended periods is not acceptable and you must insure they quiet down. All dogs bark occasionally, including mine when. You agree to this responsibility.
7. You agree to cover the furniture with the sheets provided if you cuddle with your dog(s) when sitting on the furniture.
8. You agree to cover the comforters on the beds with the sheets provided if your dog(s) sleeps with you. Please make sure you spread these out right away if they like to jump up on the beds.
9. The white towels in the bathroom are for humans only. There are towels for dogs and muddy feet as you enter in the laundry room cupboards if it rains or you visit one of the nearby lakes. You agree to make sure you clean their feet before letting them in the main area.
10. You agree to report any accidents so I can ensure they are cleaned up properly and do not encourage future guest’s dogs to pee there.
11. You agree that your dog(s) must be on a leash at all times outside of the fenced in play area. This is for your dog’s safety and the safety of the wildlife.
12. If your dog(s) sheds a lot of hair you agree to vacuum to keep up with the shedding. (there is a Dyson vacuum cleaner in the hall closet.)
13. You agree that your dog(s) may not be left on their own unless they are left in the main entrance laundry and hall area with all the doors closed and acknowledge that they do not do any damage when left alone. There is a sliding door between the main area and hallway. They may be left in the outdoor fenced dog agility area if you think they will not escape. They must be used to being left outdoors and not bark continually. You will be contacted if this happens and you agree to come take care of them.
14. You agree to pick up all dog poop on the lawn, pool area and in the fenced agility yard and discard in the designated can.

-No candles inside or out (I have an essential oil diffuser and some oils available)
- No fireworks or sparklers.
-This is a non-smoking and drug-free property. Smoking inside the house or anywhere on the property will result in the loss of the security deposit. No illegal drugs are allowed at any time.
-No daily maid service. Plenty bath towels are provided, but daily maid service is not provided. A free washer and dryer is on site if you wish to wash your bed linens. For stays of 7 nights or longer, we will arrange to have our cleaning service visit at a time that is mutually convenient, however there is an additional fee of 75.00. We do not permit towels, robes or linens to be taken out of the guest house.

Swimming pool rules:
-No jumping or diving from the cement (only the diving board), running, rough play, or glass in the pool area. Snacks are allowed as long as you clean up before you leave the pool area.
-Children are not allowed in the pool area without adult supervision.
-Beach towels are provided. They are in the laundry room cupboards above the washer and dryer. No white towels allowed in the pool area.
-Pool hours are 10AM to 7PM.
Please make sure to take the floats and any other items out the pool. Goggles, etc need to be removed from the bottom of the pool so the sweep does not get jammed.
-Do not take the pool sweep out of the pool. To do so could damage the pump.
