Truly stunning house which has been beautifully and meticulously restored. The incredible pool provided welcome much needed relief from the August sun and was in constant use by children and adults alike. Weâve never stayed anywhere quite like this and are grateful for precious memory-making as three generations on holiday together. Itâs a very special place - thank you Elisabeth and Mathieu for sharing it.
A perfect place for a group of friends and family. 4 families (15 people) spent a lovely week, relaxing by the pool, eating big group meals outside in the courtyard, swimming, fishing and kayaking in the river. 8 teenagers not once bored and plenty of delicious local food and wine in the friendly local bistro and vineyards for the adults. Highly recommend the property and the friendly, helpful hosts. Would definitely stay again if the chance arose.
I am a retired professional whom some might call a citizen of the world having travelled and lived on 4 different continents. I spend most of my time these days in Latin America but maintain strong ties to Europe, especially France, with whom I share a special bond.
I discovered "La maison de l'Arche" in Eynesse in 1972 where I spent several summers in what was then the home of my godfatherâs French family. Little did I know that my indelible childhood memories of this remarkably lovely house on the Dordogne river and the beautiful surrounding region would lead me to purchase this property nearly 40 years later. Accordingly, we have endeavoured as far as possible to keep the original interior style intact.
I have many happy memories of my childhood in this house and the nearby countryside so when the opportunity arose to buy, I seized it without hesitation to the delight of friends and family. I hope you will also have a chance to appreciate its charm and its outstanding potential
