Just look for the green shutters on the Beach road at milepost three in Kitty Hawk! We are so excited to bring our home to the rental market for the first time, we look forward to sharing it with you. We know our home will be your favorite getaway on the Outer Banks. Enjoy a unique semi-oceanfront vacation home with 100% unobstructed views of the ocean and vegetated dune line.

This home includes:

· A kitchen stocked with everything you need to cook a 5-Star Meal
· 8 TVs throughout the home – one in every bedroom, the bar Area, the Living room and a TV in the Tiki Bar for sunday afternoon sports.
· Gas fireplace in the living room and grand master suite
· Three wine coolers, 2 commercial ice makers
· Professionally decorated with custom furniture
· All upgraded mattresses for the most comfortable night’s sleep Ever

Additional Notes:
· The electric awnings over the grill and in the back of the house are not for renter use due to prior misuse

Direct beach access with pedestrian friendly crosswalk

Pool is open April 15-October 15 and is NOT heated. Hot Tub available all year for guest use.

PET INFO: We do allow you to bring your four legged friend with you and have a fenced in backyard and dog crate available inside. We do only allow ONE dog with a $150 non refundable pet fee and ask that you please clean up behind your dog. Please note that each town has different leash laws for bringing your pets on the beach. We found a lot to love about Herbst Cottage! While the layout is a little unconventional (the huge master bedroom is the only direct route in and out of the house to the back decks and pool), the spaces were big enough for 10 people, and the places we were most interested in, which were the kitchen, backyard/pool, and beach access, were really great. Well equipped with the exception of broken dishwashers (both indoor and tiki bar were broken most of the week) and a leaking ice machine. Response by the owners was quick, though we had to hand wash a lot of dishes, not their fault. The house has a great deal of space available underneath (weather protected), and the pool and backyard were truly a great hangout space for all of us and the dog. Yard games, beach chairs, great seating everywhere you look. The Tiki Bar was a unique and consistently used space. If you like cold beverages, you have many options for cooling them off in this house! Beach access was a short walk, not much further than the oceanfront houses enjoy, with the East Wilkins beach access a literal stone's throw away. Restaurants and groceries (including a Super WalMart) are very close, as you would expect at MP3. Getting on to and off of the island is also super quick and easy from this location. Check in was simple and easy, the house was clean on arrival, Wifi was strong and easy to access. Everyone loved this house and it's location.

Great family vacation house! We are a family of 10 and we all loved this house and would definitely stay there again. Loved that you just walked across the street and you were on the beach, pool and hot tub were enjoyed every day! Bathroom in every bedroom and extra one by the pool. Outside shower was a plus. Ice machines are another plus.Nice yard, corn hole games every day, and plenty of room to throw the football.The house had everything we needed, and was very clean! Also was so nicely decorated. We had a great week, wish it was longer! Thank you.

We had a Wonder Stay Made ton of Memories the beach being so close to the home was a Plus for us with kids and I Expecting any day now! The home is huge! And very spacious perfect for a big family! Pool and hot tub a hit for kiddos as well! Have no complaints and 100% worth the money go book your stay with this wonder family! We will be booking again

Great Location, Spacious Home

We very much enjoyed our stay with our pups. It was a spacious, clean home with all the necessary amenities and communication with the host was prompt. Location can’t be beat with the beach across the street. We had a wonderful time, and would highly recommend.

Excellent Vacay Beach Home

We had 9 family members. The home was lovely, spacious and had that pool which was used a lot. The house is near the ocean, shopping, restaurants and points of interest. The only con would be more umbrellas/shade sails by the pool and the multiple decks. It was really hot while we were in Kitty Hawk!

Love this Property

This is our 2nd year. Great location. Great for family vacation. Nice home with lots of amenities. We love the tiki bar with TVs and the kids love the large back yard for corn hole, throwing football etc. We definitely will be back next year! Thank you!

Ideal Outer Banks beach house

Myself, my wife and our dog, along with my brother, his wife, 4-year-old son and my parents, had a wonderful stay at Herbst Cottage! The location was especially ideal for us, being right across the street from the beach and close to all the stores, restaurants and entertainment we wanted during our weeklong vacation. The house was incredible, and we especially enjoyed the pool and the tiki bar. We also appreciated that there were lots of different nooks and crannies on the property to sit and enjoy the views or to play games together. The host was incredibly helpful and promptly responded to all of our questions. We would love to stay again sometime!

Excellent home for families

We are a family of 9 and found this home to have all the amenities we hoped for and more. Well stocked kitchen, close to beach access, pool, (not heated), comfy furniture, and very clean outdoor furniture. We appreciated the host family’s communication and quick response time. In sum, this home exceeded our expectations. If there was a con worth mentioning it would be that we had no bar soap or any toiletries for the bathrooms. Easily solved, though, with a quick trip to the store. Thanks for the use of your lovely home.

Wonderful

We had a wonderful trip! The house had everything we needed and more. The house had lots of room and was very clean! We really enjoyed the pool and hot tub and the easy access to the beach. We had mom, dad, 3 kids ages 3, 9, 10 and grandma. It was perfect, everyone had their own space and plenty of room to all be together! They responded to any questions we had right away and were incredibly nice.

Love, Love, Love

For the most part all was good. The windows could use a little more attention, as obviously there had been a large dog there and had left nose prints on the windows, no deal breaker for sure and the sliding glass door, bottom rail needed some cleaning. The door was difficult to open and close due to the build up. We actually cleaned it a little our selves. I am definitely looking forward to staying at your home again. It is absolutely perfect for our group of ladies.

We had a group of several adults, two babies, and two toddlers, and a dog. The house was the perfect accommodation for our needs. They promptly assisted us with a couple of minor issues that arose, and their excellent communication made our experience even more enjoyable. The house itself exceeded our expectations. The bedrooms were comfortable and allowed for privacy, and the common areas were spacious enough for everyone to gather and relax. The house provided several large items which allowed for easier packing. One of the highlights of the house was the well-equipped kitchen. It had everything we needed to prepare meals for our group, including a high chair and baby-friendly utensils. This made mealtime a breeze, even with the little ones. The location was also ideal, with easy access to the beach and other local attractions. Overall, our experience at this VRBO vacation house was excellent.

Wonderful for families

We had a fabulous time! The house is perfect for larger groups. We loved having the option to split up and stay at pool, or cross street to go to beach. The tiki bar was a great touch- the automatic ice maker being one of our favorite aspects to the house! Check in was easy and the house was ready a few hours early, which was a delightful surprise. Hoping to book again for next summer if there is availability!

There was more than enough room for all of us there, and having the pool was a lifesaver because we were with an infant, and we spent a lot of time at the house. The house was well stocked with everything we needed. We had a great week.

A Great Place for a Family Vacation

The house was perfect for our first family vacation on the Outer Banks, including our dog. The tiki hut was a huge hit! The house had everything we could possibly want. There were a couple of small glitches, but they were immediately taken care of. The host was greet and wanted to make sure we had the best experience. Nailed it!!!

Perfect getaway

My families first ever family vacation and we chose the perfect house. Steps from beach access was just what we needed! The weather wasn’t in our favor but the house has two enjoyable bar areas that kept us entertained the entire week.

Memorial Day Stay

Our first trip to OBX. This house is perfect - too many perks to name. 5 bedrooms with 5 private bathrooms, big great room with tons of seating, pool, tiki bar + several outdoor gathering areas, easy beach access, multiple refrigerators (indoor & outdoor), ice maker, fully stocked kitchen…look no further, this is your house! We had 3 toddlers and appreciated the security on the gates to the pool/backyard. Also the carpet was very comfy and clean which was great for little ones. Our weather wasn’t great but the family time was priceless. Excited to book the same home again next year.

Amazing Beach House

We stayed early May 2023 for 4 nights. The house was clean, well stocked, and had and plenty of supplies. Lots of room for the family to spread out. The hot tub was nice and relaxing. The location was great. Beach was just across the street. The beach was nice and quiet. Not crowded at all. We saw dolphins, pelicans, and sanderlings. Host was quick to respond to questions. Great places to eat nearby like Art's Place and OBX Bagels. We lucked out and happen to stay during a week they were having a car show in nearby Nagshead. We got to see many classic cars I have not seen on the road in years. The family enjoyed going to the Aquarium, golf carts, mini golf, aracade and shopping. I give this rental a 10 out of 10!
