Lake Cabin in the Heart of the Hiawatha National Forest
One bedroom cabin with a newly remodel bathroom and porch. Our cabin overlooks 16 Mile Lake in the heart of the Hiawatha National Forest. We are only 11 miles from the beautiful Picture Rock National Lakeshore in Munising Michigan. Thirteen miles from Au Train, a great place to canoe or kayak. Close to beaches in both Munising and Au Train. It's a nature lovers paradise!
We truly enjoyed our stay at this cozy little cabin right on 16 mile lake. We had everything we needed. It was about a 15 minute drive into Munising for all of the "touristy" things. The cabin has wi-fi, and we were able to send and receive texts, any calls needed to be made while we were in Munising (we have Verizon). The cabin does have a land line for emergencies. This cabin is on an unpaved road, but it is very well maintained, and we had no issues even after significant rainfall. This is a great place to stay if you want to be a little more remote, but not feel completely cut off from the rest of the world. We would recommend it to friends and family looking to stay near Munising.
Excellent for a getaway! Enjoyed fishing, kayaking and playing in and on the lake. Easy trip to Pictured Rocks and waterfalls. The description and photos accurately describe and depict the cabin and property. Communication with the host was great. Would definitely stay again!
We had a wonderful stay in this adorable cabin. Quiet, peaceful and clean, with a comfy bed and furnishings. Our lovely hosts surprised us with delicious local treats and we cooked several meals in the kitchen. Kayaked the lake almost daily and spotted 2 eagles and all sorts of wildlife. Close to Munising but away from it all. We hope to return next year!
Excellent location with great views from the porch and dining area. The cottage had nice updates inside, especially the bathroom. Just the right size for a couple. Nice natural landscape in the yard. Very quiet and relaxing. Good communication with the owners. Very clean with a nice cottage feel. A good location to explore the many attractions in the area.
Overall we had a great week at this cabin in Munising. We enjoyed using the kayaks and appreciated the availability of a canoe and paddleboat. The reason for less than five stars is twofold: the air conditioning was only a window unit in the living room. That meant that at night we had to choose between staying cool and keeping the bedroom dark. The second reason is that the lawn was poorly maintained. The grass was a foot tall and going to seed and there were weeds everywhere.
This was the perfect place to stay to explore Marquette and Pictured Rocks. The sunsets over 16-mile lake were amazing and the cottage was so comfortable.
My husband and I stayed for a week at this cabin. It was everything we wanted and more. The bed was comfy, the views spectacular but most of all, very clean. We had everything we needed.
The cabin was as listed. Loved the lake views and pulling out the kayaks and being on the water. Was close proximity to Munising where we were able to see some beautiful waterfalls and enjoyed some great hiking. If you enjoy rail trail biking make the trip to Marquette. You won't be disappointed. The host was a text away and supplied some good info about the area.
We really enjoyed our stay at this property. The view of the lake is beautiful, and there is a paddleboat, canoe and kayaks available to use. It's only a15 minute drive to Munising. The sauna and outdoor fire pit were added bonuses.
We had a lovely stay at the cabin for 3 nights. The lake was stunning and we definitely had a wow factor when we arrived, with the view straight out onto the lake. The cabin had everything we needed to feel at home, including useful local recommendations.
This cabin was just about everything we had hoped for. It was clean, comfortable, very well equipped (a welcome washing machine, lots of towels and kitchen supplies, etc.). Our hostess even left us a jar of local jam. She could be contacted by phone (text) with questions after we arrived.
The cabin is right on the lake, with a small dock and several boats for us to use if we wanted. Lots of places to sit and enjoy the lake view: a screen porch, and both lawn chairs and a picnic table outside.) There were more houses around the lake than we had expected, but the other lake dwellers were pretty quiet. (except for the fireworks on the Fourth, which was an unexpected treat to watch over the lake.) The only thing we could have used is better reading lights next to the bed. Overall, a wonderful week!
We felt immediately at home upon entering this homey cabin on a quiet lake in the heart of Hiawatha Nation Forest. My wife and I loved our 4 day stay and plan to return next Spring!
If you want a getaway where there's peace and quiet, this is the place. We arrived on a nice Saturday afternoon and were amazed at how quiet everything was. No one was on the lake and we only saw 1-2 people on the road in and out all week. Loved it.
The cabin was very nice, comfortable bed, large rooms, and a great view of the lake.
The host responded quickly to any inquiry we had before the trip. Fortunately we did not need her while we were there.
The cabin was about 15 minutes from Munising so easy to get to gas station and a few restaurants.
If we ever go back to the UP, we probably won't look anywhere else. We would definitely recommend staying here.
The cabin is quaint and wonderful. The cabin is on a lake and about 15 minutes from downtown Munising, MI. The cabin was clean and comfortable. Has a fire pit, canoe, kayak, & sauna. Would definitely stay again & would recommend to family & friends!!
My husband and I spent the weekend at this cabin for our 10 year wedding anniversary. It was absolutely beautiful! The cabin had all the classic charm but with modern updates to make it very comfortable. It was an easy 15 minute drive from all the attractions in Munising. It's the perfect place to rest and recharge. I would highly recommend and would stay here again.
My husband and I also live on the lake and enjoy the beauty this peaceful area has to offer. I was born and raised in Au Train Michigan and grew up on Northwoods Resort, so have a rental came naturally to me. My husband and I met here on 16 Mile Lake as his parents own a home here as well. We enjoy the outdoors and all that the upper peninsula has to offer. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.
Air conditioning! Kayak right from your shore, enjoy a fire and sunset at night, or coffee in the morning out front. Relax and take in the beauty of this gorgeous area, and stay connected to the outside world with free WiFi.
