Entry: Self check-in. Lock box with keypad code. Your unique 4-digit code is sent 24 hours before arrival via the Guesty guidebook, together with the parking garage gate code, your assigned ski locker number, and the Wi-Fi password.
Your Space: Entire 2-bedroom condo. One assigned space in the heated underground garage. One dedicated ski locker in the lobby locker room.
Shared: Outdoor hot tub, grill deck, lobby lounge, elevator.
Check-In: 4:00 PM. Check-Out: 10:00 AM. Early arrival or late departure â message us in advance and we'll confirm if the calendar allows.

The Neighborhood:
Black Bear Lodge sits in the Mt. Crested Butte base village on Hunter Hill Road, directly across from the West Wall Lift and Westwall Lodge. This is the closest cluster of condos to the West Wall chair â you walk outside, cross to the Westwall courtyard, and take the skier tunnel to the lift in about 3 minutes, no shuttle needed.
Surrounding base area (5-min walk): ski rentals, equipment tuning, casual restaurants (burgers, pizza, tacos, coffee), aprĂšs-ski bar, and a general store for groceries or last-minute supplies.
Downtown Historic Crested Butte: 3 miles down the mountain (8-min drive, or free Mountain Express shuttle). The original mining town has been preserved â Elk Avenue runs 6 blocks of painted Victorian buildings, independent restaurants (casual to fine dining), craft breweries, art galleries, live music on weekends, and the farmers' market in summer.

⥠Summer (JunâSep): Wildflower Festival in July, hiking + mountain biking from the base, Evolution Bike Park, fly-fishing on East River.

Airport: Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional (GUC), 28 miles south, ~40 min. Direct winter flights from Denver (DEN), Dallas (DFW), Houston (IAH), Chicago (ORD). Driving from Denver: 230 miles, 4.5 hr via I-70 and Hwy 135 (watch for Monarch Pass in winter).
Altitude: 9,375 ft at the condo. Plan on a low-exertion first 24 hours and aggressive hydration.
Getting Around:
â Heated underground parking: 1 assigned space per reservation (included). Access code sent via guidebook.
â Walk to West Wall Lift: approximately 3 minutes via the outdoor tunnel at Westwall Lodge (no shuttle required).
â Walk to Mt. Crested Butte base area: ~5 minutes for shops, dining, rentals.
â Free Mountain Express Shuttle: stops at the base village, runs every ~15 min to historic downtown Crested Butte.
â Drive to downtown: 3 miles, ~8 min.
â Drive to GUC Airport: 28 miles, ~40 min.
â Rideshare (Uber/Lyft): available but limited coverage, especially in winter early mornings. Taxi service also operates locally.
â Rental cars: available at GUC airport. 4WD/AWD strongly recommended November through April.
â EV charging: not currently available at the building â nearest charging is at the Lodge at Mountaineer Square (5-min drive).
Garage size heads-up: the underground garage is built to mountain-condo scale. Standard SUVs, sedans, and crossovers fit with room. Full-size pickups and vehicles with roof ski racks may need to use surface parking (first-come) if clearance is tight â fold your side mirrors on entry.

â” Elevation â The condo sits at 9,375 ft. Altitude symptoms (headache, fatigue, poor sleep) are common the first 24 hours. Hydrate aggressively, go easy on alcohol night one, and pace your first day on the mountain.
â” No A/C â Mt. Crested Butte stays cool year-round (summer highs ~75°F, nights drop to 50s). Windows open.
â” Heated underground garage â 1 assigned space per reservation. Garage is sized for standard mountain-town SUVs. Full-size pickups or vehicles with oversized rooftop ski boxes may need surface parking (first-come).
