At the same time, everything else is close by. Wander down to the nearby oval to watch kangaroos grazing, or stroll into the centre of town for cafĂ©s, restaurants and shops. Itâs a balance thatâs hard to findâcomplete immersion in nature, with the convenience of Halls Gap still within easy reach.

The Space:
Kangaroo House offers a rare way to experience the Grampiansâwhere the landscape begins right at your back door.
With four bedrooms, two bathrooms and space to spread out, itâs a comfortable and well-positioned base for families and groups exploring the region.
Designed for shared stays that feel easy, spacious and deeply connected to the outdoors, Kangaroo House offers four bedrooms and two bathrooms, comfortably accommodating families and groups and giving everyone room to spread out without feeling on top of each other. The layout works well for multiple couples, families travelling together, or extended stays where space and flexibility matter.
Each bedroom is fitted with its own split system air conditioning, allowing everyone to set their own comfort, while double glazing throughout keeps the home quiet, warm in winter and cool in summer.
Mornings here tend to start outside. Step out the patio doors and literally into the Grampians National Parkâthe transition is immediate. Wildlife moves through regularly, birdlife fills the air, and the mountains are right there, not just in view but within reach.
For families with kids, this is where the stay really comes to life. The walks are close, accessible and variedâshort enough to keep things easy, but with enough to explore that the sense of discovery never fades. Rock pools, creeks, bush tracks and open space mean thereâs always something new just beyond the door, and the wonder of it all feels very real.
From here, the rhythm of the day opens up. You can head straight onto the trails, wander down to the nearby oval where kangaroos are often grazing, or take an easy walk into town for coffee, breakfast or a relaxed lunch.
The living area is open and relaxed, designed for coming back together after time outdoors. Itâs where stories from the day are shared, plans are loosely made, and everyone naturally reconnects.
At the centre of the home, the kitchen is set up with groups in mind. A wide range of cookware, crockery and appliances makes shared meals simpleâwhether itâs breakfast before a walk, lunch in between outings, or dinner together at the end of the day. A large fridge, dishwasher, cooktop, oven and microwave mean you can cater comfortably for both small and larger groups.
As the day winds down, the home opens back out to the patio and backyard. The connection to the national park becomes the focus againâless about what you did that day, and more about where you are.
Itâs not about staying near the Grampiansâitâs about living within them.

A DAY AT KANGAROO HOUSE
Mornings begin with the outdoors already waiting. Step out the patio doors and literally into the Grampians National Parkâthe air is fresh, birdlife is constant, and kangaroos are often nearby, moving quietly through the landscape.
Some mornings call for movementâa walk to Venus Baths, Bullaces Glen or Clematis Falls in season, or a climb towards Chatauqua Peak and beyond. Other mornings are slower. A wander down to the nearby oval, coffee in hand, watching kangaroos grazing as the town gently comes to life.
From there, the day can go either way. Head deeper into the ranges, or stroll into the centre of Halls Gap for breakfast, a browse through the shops, or an easy lunch before returning to your own space on the edge of the national park.
Afternoons roll into evenings without much effort. The light shifts across the mountains, the pace drops again, and everyone finds their placeâinside or out. Meals come together, conversations stretch, and the connection to the landscape remains constant.
By the end of the day, youâve likely experienced more of the Grampiansânot because you went further, but because you started right where it begins.
Youâre not planning around itâyouâre already in it.
