The Space:
Ocean's Edge Retreat by Tiny Away is a cozy tiny house just outside Portland, Victoria. Tucked between our family home and a large shed, it still offers plenty of privacy and peace—perfect for a quiet escape. You’re just a short walk from Yellow Rock and only eight minutes from Cape Nelson Lighthouse, where whales and orcas are often seen in season.

What's more, the coastline is known for whale sightings, with Southern Right Whales from May to October, Blue Whales from November to May, and even Orcas spotted this year. Just 21 km away, Cape Bridgewater is a great place to take it all in, with a stunning 4 km sandy beach, a beachside café, cultural sites, and access to scenic walking trails like the Great South West Walk.

The Tiny House is currently positioned next to the main house due to temporary ground conditions, but privacy will not be affected.

After a day out, enjoy evenings by the fire pit, make use of the BBQ, and feel free to bring your pets along for the adventure. This cozy 139-square-foot tiny home features easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette with cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. These include an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste holding tank, a hand basin, and a gas-heated shower—making it a perfect choice among relaxing holiday homes.

Guest Access:
Guests can access our cozy tiny home, except for the land host's private residence. On chilly winter days, they’re welcome to warm up and enjoy a game of pool in our pool room.

If you’re interested, pre-orders are available with 24 hours’ notice:

- Firewood and kindling costs $20 per night
- Extra bottled water: $2.50 per 600 ml bottle
- Transport to and from town is offered with extra cost
- A full-day kayak rental, including a life jacket, costs $20

The Neighborhood:
Ocean's Edge Retreat by Tiny Away is near Portland’s town centre and a short drive from Crumpets Beach and Point Danger Gannet Colony, where you can see Australasian Gannets from July to April.

You can also enjoy scenic drives to Cape Nelson Lighthouse and explore local attractions like the Portland Cable Trams, Powerhouse Motor and Car Museum, Maritime Discovery Centre, and Portland Museum of Art. For a day trip, Cape Bridgewater is just 25 minutes away, featuring beautiful beaches, blowholes, and cliff-top walks with stunning ocean views.

If you want to explore more of Portland, you can also visit Yellow Rock, The Lee Breakwater, The Enchanted Forest, The Great South West Walk, and Portland Fauna Park.

Getting Around:
Getting around by car:

- We are about 1 hour from Warrnambool, Victoria.
- We are also about 1 hour from Mount Gambier, South Australia.
- Our property is located approximately 6 km from the town centre. Accessible by car, motorbike, or 4WD.

By public transport:

- Portland is accessible via bus services.
- Taxi services are available within Portland. If available, I’m happy to pick up guests from public transport.

- We have a cat and two friendly dogs
- No unregistered guests or visitors allowed
- No smoking inside the tiny home and outdoors
- Smoking is allowed in the open area outside the tiny home
- Kindly ensure everything is clean and in order before checking out
- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge
- Telstra, Vodafone, 2degrees, and Spark have strong signal coverage, while Optus has a weaker signal
- Maximum of two pets (cats or dogs) is allowed with 24 hours’ prior notice. Additional fee applies for each pet over the limit, per stay
- Pets must be kept on a leash at all times. The full pet policy will be provided before arrival


Important note:

- No BBQ grill and outdoor firepit during a total fire ban
- Due to the nature of the property, abundant wildlife may be present
- For stays of 5 nights or more, an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain our cassette toilet and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests. We appreciate your understanding.
