I've never felt more welcomed anywhere! From the 'your room is ready!' message, to the 'how was your first night?' message, Liz went above and beyond to make me feel at home. The studio is very well organized, the bed is so comfortable and she has thought of everything you might need for a few nights' stay. The room looked exactly like the photos in all its quaint charm. The fruit bowl and home made granola were such a treat! The room was lovely and warm the whole time and I had a good range of areas to sit which was needed as I was home most of the time doing a self-guided retreat. I barely knew there was anyone upstairs (except for occasional episodes of the dog's excited tail wagging on the floor. Too cute!) Close to the city, no need for a car, and surprisingly quiet and secluded. The birdsong in the morning was lovely.I had a wonderful three nights and would highly recommend this property.
This is an absolute gem, hidden just minutes off from bustling Ponsonby Road. The room/bathroom has been clearly thought-out for maximising the space, and has everything you ever need (including homemade granola, fresh milk, and water). Liz (as well as Rick & Avery) take great pride the property, and are truly what makes the stay exceptional. I loved our little chats we had, and they were always wanting to go over & beyond. Don't miss out on a brilliant stay!
For Rick and I, it was love at first sight, our house started life as one of the original workers cottages in Freemans Bay in the mid-1800s, since then it has been added to and renovated time and again until reaching its current form; it doesn't look like much from the street but you might say it's bigger on the inside. The site is steep, but your room being nestled at the bottom of three floors and backing onto a valley gives it a level of seclusion that's hard to find in central auckland, though the stairs may prove a challenge for some (we're happy to help with your bags, just give us a heads up).
We love the area, we're a few minutes walk from Ponsonby Rd with it's Cafes, Restaurants, & shopping; or you could head down to Wynyard quarter which is just a stones throw away from bottom of the hill with more eateries than you can shake a stick at.
And when you're done for the day, come back & relax in an uncommon solitude in the heart of central auckland.
Bag End is probably about the best balance you'll find of convinience and seclusion, tucked away in a hidden valley while only a few minutes walk from the heart of Ponsonby
