Each of our apartments - one on the ground floor and the other on the third floor - in our century old traditional Montreal triplex offers easy charm and comfort. Our third floor apartment is unusual for a Montreal triplex in that it is not organized in the traditional layout of double rooms and long corridors. You climb up a first flight of outside stairs and then complete the next flight of stairs indoors. You come into the centre of the apartment and from here you see how the apartment is organized around the central sunny and open living space. One bedroom is to the front of the apartment overlooking the street and the other, in the rear, overlooking the garden. The walk-in shower has the beautiful skylight just above it and there is a washing machine and dryer for your convenience in the same bathroom space. There is a little balcony looking on to the street with table and four chairs and another small balcony in the back, with a second table and two chairs and BBQ. This looks out over a 2nd floor terrace below. The kitchen has all amenities and is bright and cheerful. There is a TV and Bluetooth sound bar in the living room. We have high chairs and folding cribs in both apartments for visiting little humans. Pets are welcome. We are on a quiet residential street close to transport. There is street parking, nearby buses on the intersecting street and we are close to the metro transport system. There are two metro stations nearby: Beaubien (13 mins walk) and Jean-Talon (10 mins walk).
We lead a bit of an unusual lifestyle. Elizabeth teaches at a UK university and we are there in term time. We come back to Montreal outside of semesters to be close to family and friends. We have travelled extensively across Africa and Europe, love being guests and know the importance of a warm helpful welcome to guests coming to our home.
Yes, Montreal is well worth the hype! And our cozy apartment - on the 3rd floor with the characteristic outside stairs of our century old traditional Montreal triplex – offers easy charm and comfort. We have been hosting for ten years and guests love visiting Little Italy, Montreal’s prominent Italian community, known for its fantastic bars, glorious shopping and authentic Italian fare. We are also close to the Jean-Talon Market, the largest public market in North America opened year-round. Yup, we – like most Montrealers – are enthusiastic foodies. Le Super Qualité, tasty Indian street food and snack, is literally 2 mins away. Luciano Trattoria is 2mins in the other direction. Automne boulangerie – 5 mins walk – has amazing croissants and bread and the coffee is some of the best in Montreal. Canada’s no.1 best restaurant ‘Mon lapin’ is just a 15 mins walk along rue St Zotique. On Plaza St Hubert, 10 - 20 restaurants at under a 10 minute walk. And, no, there is not only food. We are close to vibrant Jarry Park which offers a magnificent view of Mont Royal and is known for its world-class tennis stadium. This unique urban ecosystem centred around a lake is alive with birds and wildlife. People play cricket, jog, swim and fly their kites. Not far away is Zero Latency, a unique virtual reality gaming experience. And then, there is, of course, all the rest that Montreal has to offer.
