Lakeside Retreat With Panoramic Views Like No Other
Our lakeside home is the perfect vacation spot for families. A bright spacious family room gives visitors a space to hang out, play games, or read. An extra table in the family room is the perfect spot for card games or extra seating at mealtime. A wall of windows allows for maximum sunlight and plenty of lake views. The kitchen has both a bar with seating for three and a dining area with a table for six. The bedrooms are spacious and living areas give plenty of room to spread out. The house sits on two lots and boasts a spacious backyard with a beautiful shade tree. There's plenty of room for the kids to play tag and the adults to sit and enjoy the lake or play a game of corn hole. Free wi-fi, a full kitchen, washer/ dryer, and a pier for sunning will be all your family needs to enjoy a quiet vacation in a homey atmosphere. There are also 4 kayaks for house guests. Lake Waccamaw is the perfect place to "get away" for a quiet retreat, and a change of scenery.
Three generations of family had a fabulous time at the lake house. Our favorite part was the ease of getting into the water and having the kayaks in tip-top shape made the water play even more fun. The interior met our needs as well.
We had a lovely stay at the lake house celebrating my 27th birthday with all my closest friends and family! We enjoyed the views, the wildlife, the property, and the weather. Thank you so much for sharing this home with us!
Our group thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had plans to go to the beaches and other activities, but the house was so warm and inviting that we stayed in and relaxed. Missy was available immediately to answer any questions we had. We plan to book their again.
This lovely home was just what we were looking for! Rustic charm with more modern elements as well. Very spacious, nicely appointed, all the amenities you needâŠâŠAnd the viewâŠâŠ Breathtaking!!
Very nice property. Great place with family and children. We attended a wedding nearby so unfortunately did not stay at the house much.
Weâll be back to enjoy boating and sunsets!
This is an older home that has much character. One thing we especially liked is its view of the back yard, lakeshore and dock are unobstructed so we could watch the kids from anywhere in the common areas of the house. The price was very reasonable and we had a pleasant experience.
4 work colleagues had room to spread out and enjoy this lovely lake front property. Beds were very comfortable, a relaxing tree swing, kayaks, and more! Fast wifi was icing on the cake.
We had an awesome time staying at Sunnyside Up at Lake Waccamaw. The cottage was clean, inviting, and comfortable. It met the needs of our entire family from the youngest to the oldest. Missy (the host) was exceptionally helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend Sunnyside Up to another family.
This property is just as described in the listing. Even though the weather didn't cooperate we managed to have a wonderful time visiting with our family. Thanks so much for sharing your property with us! Have a blessed day!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sunny Side Up! Missy was more the great to work with and very accommodating. We hosted our sonâs 1st birthday party in the backyard and when your family has more kids than adults this is the perfect setting! Swimming, yard games & grilling out made for a relaxed and fun weekend. The lake is shallow which is perfect for kids & adults who want to play baseball in the lake. The house was spacious, wi-fi great & the kitchen was equipped well. Missy even left some kid friendly snacks & juice pouches! We will return every year if able. Highly recommend for a family fun week/weekend.
The property met all our needs and was totally adequate for our purposes. There were 7 of us. We were able to easily schedule bathroom times for showers so only two bathrooms was not a problem, and we prepared food but with such a great porch and backyard we always ate outside. Part of the house is old and dated but not a serious problem. The slab floor in the older part is interesting.
We arrived on property a few days after a tropical storm hit the area. We booked the house to stay w/ family & friends for our daughter's wedding that Saturday. We were surprised to find the grounds flooded & no paved parking or sidewalks! We had to remove shoes, walk thru squishy mud & wipe feet in house. Repeat each time we went to car or house! Not great for events where you are wearing formal clothes! My parents had to leave & find another VRBO as it was too messy for them.
Also, only 2 bathrooms & 1 did not have an outlet. With ladies needing to get ready for a wedding, not good.
If you book the property, know that it is very rustic. I didn't dislike it. I liked the relaxing environment & amazing views. It was comfortable & clean. It was close to town & the alligators were mesmerizing. I gave the property an overall 4 rating because it is was it is advertised to be. I just wish I had known about the no driveway/sidewalk issue.
Additionally, I wish the dock had seating on it. We would take towels out to the dock to sit on while we watched the sunrise.
I will add that the owner was extremely quick to respond.
This property is way oversold in the listing and way over priced for what you get. It is very old and it is run down. I am sure many happy memories have been made there, but it should be listed as an older, well used property. We had to go life jackets as the ones there were so old and torn. The floor slopes so badly it made my Aunt's vertigo act up. There were torn screens, cobwebs, and dust. It is really only two bedrooms. There is a twin loft bed immediately when you walk into the house and one of the rooms doesn't have a real door. Bath towels were hard to find and there were almost no little amenities if you needed something just to tide you over until you could get to a store. Figuring out what switches did what, even with the labels was a huge challenge. Again, if the property had been a little more forth coming in the listing, I don't think it would have left as bad an impression. If you are looking for an older, well loved and used home, this is perfect. If you are looking for a lovely lake retreat, keep looking.
This quaint little lake house was just the get away we needed on Veteran's Day weekend while we checked in on some property. I booked this home after reading the reviews and still feel it was a good choice. There was plenty of room for everyone (7 total). It was cold and wet outside so we didn't get much use of the property and pier but the views while lunching on shrimp chowder, sipping cocoa and coffee and just enjoying our time was amazing! We had some small issues to contend with however, our host was quick to respond and went out of her way to try and make it better. All in all, I'm sure we will return. As for the details, here are a few to make your stay enjoyable.
1. Clorox wipes should always be in your bag.
2. Expect water bugs by the water.
3. It's an older home with older home charms. Set your expectations accordingly.
4. If something goes wrong, contact the host. They are more than happy to address any concerns.
5. There is great wi-fi but try to make time to just enjoy the views and each other.
Not as expected; Disappointed; Only 3 bedrooms not 4
Overall, disappointing.
The listing states that there are 4 bedrooms. That is false. There are only 3 bedrooms. One bedroom is actually the foyer and the playroom and it cannot be closed off from the living room. They have blinds attached to one wall to "separate" it from the living room. Not cool if you are expecting/need an actual 4th bedroom.
Additionally, not all of the lights in the house were in working order and several of the ceiling lights did not work or had burned out lightbulbs in them. Although there were extra lightbulbs in the kitchen, we did not have a ladder nor do we believe it should be the renter's job to get up on a ladder and replace the ceiling lightbulbs.
Also, the ceiling fan in the master bedroom made a lot of noise; definitely could not sleep with it on.
It was a good location, clean, and appeared to have a pretty well stocked kitchen, although we did not cook any meals while there.
Overall, it was disappointing. We would not rent there again.
Growing up going to Lake Waccamaw holds many dear memories. We would stay at our grandparents' house and spend countless days on the lake fishing, boating, and tubing. We feel Lake Waccamaw is North Carolina's best-kept secret. With over 2,000 acres of state parkland, the lake has remained very residential with little to no commercial development. Four generations have enjoyed funfilled summers on the water.
