The Jeff is a boutique hotel and private oasis located on Charlottesville's historic Downtown Mall. Nestled above the world famous Jefferson Theater, you'll find sleek spaces, soaring archways, and subtle luxury with a rock and roll edge. Once you're inside these soundproof walls the world recedes like a dream – until you're ready to emerge, refreshed, with the heart if the city on your doorstep. To ensure privacy and true getaway vibes, The Jeff was designed to be entirely self-service (no front desk or need for check-in). Upon booking, you will receive a unique code that gives you access to your room.

The Jeff offers:
"Suites" with king beds w/additional living area
"Studios" standard king bedroom

Jeff Studio 303: Each room is individually furnished, with a distinct personality. Think effortless cool, creamy suede, and desert colors with pops of quirky humor.
The Jeff Hotel Studios feature a luxurious, custom-made king bed - perfect to settle down in after a hard day's rockin' with a flat screen TV. A Marshall amp speaker is provided to kick back and enjoy your favorite tunes. Each room is equipped with Nespresso coffee maker with pods, an electric kettle for tea that is also provided plus mini-fridge. Our spacious en-suite bathrooms boast high ceilings and walk-in showers.
Purchase of each room comes with one, single-use parking voucher ($12 max) for the nearest parking garage – about a 3-minute walk from the entrance. Being on a pedestrian mall the hotel has no on-site parking, but we think that having Cville's most popular bars, restaurants and music venues mere steps away is a great trade-off!

Exceptional Overnight

See review of Jeff Studio by me. I booked two rooms. One for my husband and myself and one for a friend. I cannot give this room a high enough recommendtion. There was a refrigerator in the room as well as a steamer! And parking was free. The location was perfectly wonderful! The room was immaculate, comfortable, quiet and exceeded any expectation for the price!

No-frills, perfect location

This is a PERFECT location for someone who wants a clean, safe, and nice place to stay and won’t spend much time in the room (which is very small and only has two small windows near the ceiling). You will not find a better location downtown. The only downside is how you can hear everything from your neighbors in the hallway, so light sleepers beware, but the white noise machine they included in the room was a delightful touch!

How it Should Be

Property exactly as advertised. Cute, clean, functional and great location. Easy and short walk from parking garage. Well worth the effort to be on a closed off street. Communication could not have been better. We will surely be staying again.

Great Location

Clean light and bright, close to restaurants. No elevators, so be prepared for a short walk from the available parking and up a few flights of stairs.

Great room in a great location!

We were in town to see a concert in the Jefferson Theater, and this boutique hotel above the venue provided the perfect overnight accommodations. The location on the downtown mall is ideal, in easy walking distance to many cool shops and restaurants. The room was exactly as described, neatly furnished and included a mini fridge and a Nespresso machine. Would definitely stay again and recommend!

Great spot for a show

Instructions for the equipment were thorough. The property was very clean and well appointed. The only thing preventing 5 stars is that a couple of the electronic devices did not seem to be functioning properly (amp and white noise machine).

Great location

This is in the heart of downtown C'Ville. Nice decor and as small as advertised. Not a spot to hang, but plenty around to make it enjoyable. All in all, it was a good experience.

Great Location, Studio is Accurate

Went to a concert at The Jefferson Theater so this was a perfect spot. Probably the smallest and darkest hotel room I've ever stayed in, but it served its purpose. Maybe a bit pricey considering the size.

Best Location

I stayed in the Jeff for a week in Charlottesville and it was the perfect location in the downtown Mall, close to countless restaurants. The walk to the UVA campus was an easy mile. The room is tiny but cozy with good coffee and a small fridge. Very comfortable bed and great shower. The stairs (up 3 flights) were fine but those with mobility difficulties would have a hard time. Finally, the staff was attentive and thoughtful. Great stay.

Not for out of shape folks

No elevator made it a challenge to carry overnite things up 2 flights of narrow stairs. My wife has a bad leg so I made the trip up and down for each bag. If we stay here again, I will be better prepared.

Great Location

Fantastic location for a fun one night trip -- very convenient to go right upstairs after a show downstairs. The mattress was comfortable and the bathroom and room clean. Everything looked like the pictures. I would stay here again but try to get an end room, as the room next to ours turned out to be a mirror image of ours, which meant the headboards of the bed shared a wall... and you can guess where this is going here. The rooms are advertised as sound proof, but that doesn't apply to the percussion of our neighbors' headboard hitting the wall during their extensive midnight and somewhat shorter 7:30 am "bedroom activities." I think if the headboards were secured to the wall this could be prevented.

Very poor communication, they never replied to me about my issue!

The night before we were set to check in, my farther passed and I emailed that night and went onto Virbo to cancel or see if we could postpone. I emailed 2 more times the management directly and have yet to get any responses! Very unprofessional and poor communication on their part.

The bad made good

Overall my stay at The Jeff was good. It is in a GREAT location and the property manager I corresponded with was wonderful. Since The Jeff is a historical landmark, it does not need to have an elevator or a separate fire exit. I didn't realize how much of a concern this would be for me until I got into my tiny 3rd floor room. When I reached out to the property manager, she accommodated a room change. Even though I was charged a fee, I was grateful for her genuine care and concern and her speedy communication back to me on what they could do to move me to a different room. The rooms are immaculate and even though you're staying downtown, the building is very quiet. The beds are super comfortable, nice linens. I would stay here again.

Wineries tour

We stayed here after visiting several wineries in the area. The location is perfect as there are lots of restaurants, pubs, and other things to do within walking distance. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. We thought it was going to be loud given the lively nightlife, but it wasn't. We will definitely stay here when we do another wineries trip.
