We had a lovely stay in this beautiful house, which was very comfortable and had lots of charm, along with a fabulous garden. The only thing that we didn't like was that it was very difficult getting out of the drive onto the road outside as you can't see oncoming cars and just have to hope there isn't one coming when you pull out. It is also worth noting that the room layout on the second floor is slightly quirky but we soon got used to it.
Beautiful old property and gardens - well equipped and with loads of space for all six of us. Ideally located for all the Normandy sites. A massive thank you to Catherine and Christine for making our stay so great.
Simply charming home conveniently located just outside of Bayeaux. Excellent communication with landlord. Appears as advertised. Wonderful stay! We will return!! Thanks to Catherine and Christine!!!
Our family of five stayed in the house for six nights. It has a lot of charm: the old floors, layout, and doors are very well preserved and integrated with modernized comfort. It is quiet and comfortable, and well-equipped. It is also very well situated to explore the region. We warmly recommend the house.
We love the history of the area especially the D-Day beaches they are on the doorstep. The house itself was so easy to settle into and all beds we used were comfy .our host Catherine was most helpful when needed and we are hoping to go back next year .very private property and sitting in the garden was lovely.plenty of safe parking a big plus as we had three cars with us .Susan and family .
Excellent period fFrench county house. Sympathetically restorated retaining many original features., layout a little quirky upstairs
Facilities are in the main contemporary both inside & out. Would have no hesitation in returning. Host was most helpful & communication was first class
We had a wonderful four days at Peter and Tomâs gite. The grounds were lovely and the attention to detail in the house was greatly appreciated. We loved Mary and Wally the resident dogs and they loved us too. Only a 10 minute drive into Revel where we could shop for groceries. A great few days to re-charge. Thank you so much.
We had a wonderful week in the mansion at Tracy sur Mer. The communication with Catherine was easy and very fast. The charming mansion in a tranquil setting was very nicely renovated with all necessary modern amenities and a huge garden. There is a very nice terrace with a stone grill place on the back of the house which faces the garden. The wooden stoves in the living and dining rooms can be used and make a very cozy warmth. There is much to do and see in the area, and Catherine provided us with a lot of information about activities but in a week one might only manage to visit the major sites.
Over all, we had a great time and can highly recommend this mansion for a visit to the Normandy.
If you want to experience French Country living, look no further. This house has ripped right out if a novel. One piece of advice. You are in the country, so please do not expect high speed internet. The house is solid concrete, and although there is internet, not all rooms receive it. You are forced to truly unwind, which is a good thing now a days.
Four adults stayed five nights in April 2023. Great location to reach DDay beachs and memorials, Bayeus. !-1/2 hours drive to Mont St Michel and Honfleur. Grocery stores (Lidl and Intermarche) were both close by. As we had heard from others, a bathroom in France may not necessarily include a toilet. On the second floor, there are three bedrooms. There was one full bath (toilet sink tub) attached to a bunk room which was not slept in. The middle bedroom had no ensuite bath. The largest bedroom had a partial ensuite of sink and shower. The powder room was located on first floor. Stone stairs between first and second floor. The sunroom is a lovely addition. Beds were comfortable. We felt safe in this area and in the home.
Farmhouse style accommodation with character in a leafy setting
The ferry service timings to Cherbourg (from Portsmouth) suited us better than Caen & only took 1.25 hours by car to the accommodation (mostly dual carriageway ). The house-keeper Christine came to meet us & showed us around in a friendly manner despite it being nearly 9pm & with France playing in the Euros (give the owner good notice if you're going to be that late in the day). Only 2 km inland from Gold Beach, the accommodation & grounds were more spacious than expected with Napoleon being a popular feature on the walls !
We were 4 male friends on a D Day beaches / Pegasus Bridge tour so we did fill the bed capacity with 2 doubles & a bunk room being available . Only inconvenience was occupants of the doubles had to go downstairs to use the toilet overnight.
One of the doubles has a wash hand basin & shower & the the bunk room has an en suite.
Catharine (the owner) & Christine offer some good restaurant recommendations. Try the extensive Normandy Platter in Arromanches & the local apple ice cream floating in Calvados is a treat.
This was an amazing, spacious, comfortable, clean, authentic place to stay for 3 nights while visiting the beaches of Normandy, Mont St. Michel, St. Malo, and Bayeux. Our family of 4 adults fell in love with the region and our accommodations! This beautiful, old-style country home provided everything we needed to explore the region and to then return home in the evenings for fun, quiet dinners as a family as we reminisced about what we did during the day. The location could not be better - so close to Bayeux and Arromanches, yet set in the open country! Bathrooms were clean and updated so we felt right at home. The kitchen had all of the amenities we needed to either bring in dinner or make our own. We were grateful for the laundry facilities as we each carried just a few outfits in order to not have to check bags. We were easily able to wash and dry our clothes. But, the best part was the spaciousness of the home, the comfort of the sleeping accommodations, and most importantly, the authenticity of staying in an older French country home. This place is true to the pictures, and even better. We also found the property owner to be responsive and helpful. Loved, loved, loved staying here and would definitely return if ever in Normandy again.
The house was charming, comfortable, perfect! Very helpful host and support staff. I could not recommend it more highly; we wished we could have stayed much longer.
